Synopsis : Prahlada Charitram is a famous story from Srimad Bhagavatham depicting the love and devotion of Prahlada, a young boy. Prahlada was the song of Hiranyakashipu an egoistic Asura. Nevertheless by the blessing of sage Narada, Prahlada grew to be a child full of virtues. Prahlada was a Gnani who learnt to see God in all. Once when his father c questioned his wisdom, he fearlessly spoke the truth about the Lord. Tainted with pride of ego, Hiranyakashipu tried to kill Prahlada, his own child, but in vain. The Lord protected in all ways possible. Finally questioned the existence of the Lord, Hiranyakashipu stuck a pillar and Ho!.. From the very same pillar Lord Narasimha appeared. This avatar of Lord Vishnu killed Hiranyakashipu and re-established dharma. Victory be to Lord Narasimha.

Yes, Ma'm. She is blessed, perhaps, some credit due to the disciplined life style, devotion and sustained interests of generations of her ancestors. We are blessed too to listen to her in our life time. I was lucky to be able to attend her Upanyasam in person in Chennai, even luckier to be able to listen-watch her Upanyasam abroad, several times every month due to the wonderful invention of U-tube..... sometimes the same Upanyasam several times, over and over again, same degree of tears shed....... It has not occurred before to the same degree.....

I agree, I had listened to talented lady-powranikas on All India Radio, such as Thanjavoor Kamala Mami and Trichy Alamelu Mami, each very good in her own way. So, any comparison is unfair, perhaps, odious. But this young lady's musical talent and level of energy she brings may be the reasons she is mesmerising, in my case, for drawing such copious tears from my eyes. On her energy level she surely excels even many male powranikas I know of.

It is not easy to do what Vishaka Hari is doing so well - planning the Narration, selecting the suitable Shlokas, points to make, selecting the songs, ragas, fitting all of this into the allotted time.
Another most interesting feature is she breaks into her Ragas - a good mix of them - without hardly a pause while doing her Narration, an amazing ability.
In this Upanyasam, she switches from Reethi Gowlai, to Kalyani, to Shanmukhapriya, all of which she sings so beautifully.

The Kalyana Vasantham, Vishaka sings is always the Cherry on top of the icing on the Cake....... Icing consists of her string = Mala of Ragas...... She brings tears in most as she sings, especially, Kalyana Vasantham............. Violinist AnantaKrishnan adds to the great experience. He is excellent too.
