I love ur bookshelf. It’s so aesthetic. Seeing you attempting a Scottish accent warms my heart. We do have a very difficult accent to understand, even without all the slang words.
I'm in London right now and a few days ago I went to Waterstones in Trafalgar Square. This was my first time actually going into a UK book store and I loved it! I got Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, A Room of One's Own by Virgina Woolf, and Paddington by Michael Bond. At that point I had to stop myself as I was beginnning to drop things...
Just a note. Scots is not Scottish slang. It's a language that is now technically considered a dialect, but was its own distinct language with ties back to Old Norse and Gaelic. Lots of Scots still speak it today, even if only to a small extent, but it's fairly common up in the HIghlands.
L OShea I’m aware of the history of he language. I have a masters in Celtic and Scottish Studies. And it does have links to both languages and is closer to old Norse than English is. Also I never claimed that Scots and Scots Gaelic were the same language. Scots developed alongside English. And yes the two were historically spoken in different areas but they actually influenced each other as well. But thanks for trying to educate me.
Hi Sasha! I'm the girl that randomly met you in the London Waterstones bathroom. Hope you had a great time with your book tour. Kind of jealous of you for visiting all those wonderful cities and bookshops!
*I NEED TO GET THAT SCOTTISH HARRY POTTER BOOK* I have some Harry Potter books in the background of my videos and I feel like that book would embellish my background...yep that's my excuse to getting another Harry Potter book❤️
I actually checked out your book from the library I work at because it looked cool - it wasn't until today (several days later) that I realized that you wrote it!! Haven't started it yet, but can't wait to!
watching Sasha try to speak Scots made me giggle. I come from Ireland, but because bands like Hollywood Undead don't visit Belfast, I have to travel to Glasgow at least once a year to see them. Not everyone in Glasgow speaks it, but a good few of the people I met there did. You pick it up fairly quickly.
I love your videos so much!! I want to go to the UK so bad. That edition of Harry Potter looks beautiful. Scottish slang and Harry Potter sound so weird and cool. I recently purchased the entire Lunar Chronicles and I am so excited to finally read this series.
Hi Sasha, it was great meeting you and I hope you really enjoy the folklore book and I’m glad you can get more use out of it than when it was just sitting on my shelf! 📚 I love this list of books you got, it has a few I am looking forward to getting my hands on as well 😊 I haven’t started Zenith yet but I am going to in the next couple of days and I can’t wait!!!
Oh my goodness, Harry Potter in Scottish slang?! That’s awesome and so fun! All of these books sound so good and I haven’t heard of them before. Definitely have a few more to add to my TBR 😊
I live in Scotland, I didn’t know there was a Scottish Harry Potter edition. Roald Dahl “The Twits” was made into “The Ejjits” I think that is the most popular Scots Edition book.
Amazing book haul. Every where i go i really want to get a book at the bookstore to remember that it is a special book that i got from a different place
It was amazing meeting you in London! When I was there I picked up a sampler of part one of King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo which I'm very excited to read!
I have too many books that I bought I have about 20 to read. Considering you love Salem read Reflection of Fire by Annalise Azevedo. It's available online 😊
Hi, I really enjoy your videos, and I have a couple book recommendations. The first is Onyx and Ivory by Mindee Arnett. It hasn't been out super long, and I thought it was quite good. Some of the plot elements were things I haven't seen before from that genre, and both the platonic and romantic relationships were wonderful. The second recommendation is Vicious by V.E. Schwab. It's an adult novel, but I think would still be enjoyable to YA readers. It's about supervillains, and it's one of the best books I've ever read. This is a bit of a long comment, but if you decide to try these books out, I hope you like them!
You mentioned something about doing a video featuring recommendations of a certain genre that nobody knows of and it sounded very intriguing. Will you ever do it?
If you like reading stuff about Scotland read the Outlander series you will not be disappointed. Also the HP book isn't in slang, just fyi. It's an actual language that is still being used today.
I’m disappointed at myself that I didn’t even think to look for the Scots version of Harry Potter when I was in Scotland last year. I visited the Inverness Waterstones frequently but it didn’t occur to me.

The Scots edition is actually in Scots language, not slang, which is what the spoke in the Lowlands!

It's not Scottish slang, Scots is a language. There's also editions of some of Roald Dahl books written in Scots too. :)
lannapeanut Oh, sorry. I know nothing about Scotland lol.
It's fine, I just wanted to clarify since Sasha thought it was slang too and a lot of people make that mistake. :)
I recently purchased seven stones to stand or fall by Diana Gabaldon on my kindle app 🤓📚📱
More ofOutlander because I'm only on page six of the book!

Sorry, I'm so bad at spelling.

Just to note: it's not a slang Harry Potter book, Scots is an actual language. :)

We read Scottish dialect in school and it sucks because none of us kids speak in dialect
