I was Doc's Conductor & Pianist from 1978 - 1983. He was & is still the greatest trumpet player in the Universe. Every legendary trumpet star came to our shows over the years - and the admiration & respect that they had for Doc was consistently on display. And Doc had inspired & further many careers of his fellow trumpet players. Always a Class Act...I was also glad to hear Doc thank his Manager , Bud Robinson, upon receiving this award. Bud was a friend & mentor to me as well. He was very proud of Doc's accomplishments.
