This is the best high school half-time band show I've seen in several years. I had the opportunity to see this school perform live in Decatur, they did so good that I searched for a second helping on youtube. Kudos to all of the teachers, students and parents who have made this program successful. Thanks for the entertainment that brought us to our feet in applause! Can't wait to see what you have next year.
We took alot of pride in this show,it was one of the best our band has ever done. We are not professionals we are high school students who know how to put on an entertaining show that the crowd loved everywhere we went.
As a Member of this band...I can personally say that we put both pride and professionalism in playing such a good show! And like Anna said if we didnt meet your standards...please stay tuned for this year
Our show this year is "America A State of Mind" the line up My home is in Alabama,Comin to America,Smile,Boogie Woogie Bugle boy and closing with the madison scouts version of Empire state of mind.
we made all ones, best in class on everything, and they even had to make a class just for our us because of the size of our band at the hayden band competition this past year when we perfomed the beatles.
For this year I cant tell you right now because we havent had our full band at band camp yet just rookies, but this past season I would say like between 285 and 295.
Our version of My home in Alabama is pretty amazing, Smile is by Charlie Chaplain. Our Band Director writes all of our music himself, and has done an amazing job every year. Yeah I would love for you to send me a video of your show.
The opener, I like (depending on the version); Comin' to America, I have doubts about (granted that I can't find a decent video of it); Smile, if it's the Avril Lavigne song I guess it'd be good; Boogie Woogie, one of my favorite dance features; Empire State of Mind, I don't hear the melody well in their version, but the wall of sound y'all produce will more than likely overshadow that small defect. My band is doing a latin show this year (I will send you a video of it later if you want me to).
No last time I looked at the band count from our show this past season it was 327. This was also filmed by a parent not someone affliated with the band.
It includes everybody, we dont seperate our guard and danceline by saying they arent part of our large number, we make sure everybody feels that they have a place in our band.
Y'all meet more standards than most bands in the nation. All that I am saying is that there is a different experience when you see the close-ups versus the big picture.
Quite impressive, I must admit. I have my doubts about that number because Homewood is supposed to be the largest, but there are only 250 winds+percussion, but I would definetly like to see 2012 GCHS. What show are y'all doing this year?
If you look at the kids faces, it doesn't reflect the hard work that I'm sure has gone in to this show. I never said you should be nor that you are professionals, but professionalism is key to a perfect band. Some high school bands look professional, even in this state, and when you look at the faces, you get just as intense of a performance. I loved the show, but like I said, it's lacking certain things that an audience can't see.

That is very good, but still, how many winds+percussion do y'all have?

I removed that comment... Is it 327 winds/percussion or does that number include guard/danceline/majorette?
I am sorry we didnt meet your standards, maybe we can meet them this year.
This is a very good show, great playing too, but I don't see any pride or professionalism.
