Like @gensisg7022 I lived in Meridian Ms and in April 1976 dropped out of High School as a Solid A/B student and joined the Army. I earned a GED while in Basic Training and over my 20 year time in the Army earned a BS degree and traveled the world.
I retired and could not bring myself to return to Mississippi to save my ass. I have returned a total 4 times as well and on each visit could not help but shake my head as it continues to decay. I recognized the streets shown but my oh my how it has changed. I bet most of the victims shown here are still voting Democrat something I haven't done in 20 years and never will again either.

You can drive thru any city and only film the rundown parts of them. Notice that’s all this person filmed. He didn’t go into the nice parts of Meridian. It’s a shame that was his purpose filming Meridian. The south is beautiful and I’m proud to call Meridian, Mississippi home.

My mother moved us to Meridian from New York in 1975.
    I left in 1979(Army).
I only been back 4 times since then.
2 funerals and a wedding, and when I got out of the Army.
Best thing I did was to move to California. Been here ever since.
I still have relatives that live there.

I lived in San Deigo for 5 years. Oldest sister and parents still live there. Hated California, glad I moved to the south. And got away from the mess that is California.

Meridian schools along with police along with racist folk along with Ignorance along with no father figures along with not enough to DO .. THATS WHAT ON EDGE feels like MORE PEOPLE CAN RELATE IN OTHER city’s, I’m sure of this but it’s still something different about MERIDIAN MS. OUR CITY OFFICIALS MAY NEED REAL PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANCE FROM OTHER PLACES BECAUSE THERE’S NO TRUE HAPPINESS THERE ,WE’RE NOT LIVING THERE WE’RE SURVIVING THERE’S A DIFFERENCE

Most of my family is from Meridian and it used to be a really nice town. The things that brought it to this level is it has a very bad drug problem and a lot of jobs have left the area resulting in high unemployment.

Agreed. Like most parts of the east coast. I moved out Joined the Military to Serve and to get out of the east coast was a bonus. I prefer the Western Colorado, Wyoming area part. To each their own. I Love Snow. Europe is the best though for me. Travel people travel.....you shall see. It opens thy eyes. If you come back to the east coast than it's for you. Don't be afraid to explore other options. You never know......

Lol this person is being a bit dramatic. Rarely do you hear of stealing cars and gang stuff here. Yes, occasionally you hear about a crime just like every single city. The bad people stay in the bad parts of town just like every single city in America. The county is safe. The north side of town is safe. The crossroads area and downtown Meridian have recently gotten a lot of attention and new businesses. Meridian is up and coming. I literally have lived here my entire life and I feel safe here.

The bad thing with these states, ironically, is the low property taxes. I think alabama's can't be changed bc it's in the state's constitution, which leads to poor funding of schools. It also leads to higher sales tax.

Mississippi is a beautiful state. With a lot of friendly honest hardworking people. I challenge you to go back and film the beautiful parts if Meridian not just the rundown area. But of course your full intentions was to make the South and Meridian look as bad as possible. Too bad you can’t see any town except thru your biased eyes. I feel so sorry for the people that only see the bad in everywhere they go. Open your eyes to beauty and find that in the places you film!!
