@@christianhaleofficial Ha! I’m already ahead of you and going thru them now! Gold! You demonstrate and explain, but you go deeper and give your PHILOSOPHY behind it. That is really separating you from other mixing online coaches. It’s clear you’ve had some great mentors and are passing it on. Glad I’ve run across you, mate! Super helpful already - you’re changing my whole Vox game! 🎤 🔥
@@christianhaleofficial It’s great to know those highly polished and detailed methods. The other side is capturing spontaneity and not losing that thru an intensive process. Today, we n ultra commercial pop, you are nailing it! Is your method what is use in a bluesy alt rock / punk type song? No, but for rough patches you’re still offering great ideas to fix problems if a track can’t be re recorded. I’d love to see you upload a video on mixing the other extreme - a super raw, punk type vocal. Might be interesting to compare your approaches. Cheers!
Also, It would be great to have a video breakdown of how your getting your bass tracks on your music super wide and also full in mono environments. Love your music that your producing!
That’s doing the filtered intro thing you hear at 1:39. If you look closely, it’s automated to be inactive the entire song once the first verse starts. It’s not a part of my standard mix bus workflow, was just a song specific effect 👊🏽
That Ruby, you see most people have never lad eyes on or heard the DW Fearn equipment, found in a lot of high end studios, I have, that's what made me seek out Acustica audio, started with the orignal ruby years ago, hope they get the license for the DW Fearn compressor
You and I both man on the plug-in version of the VT-7 compressor! I’d heard Acustica started developing it, but Fearn (rightfully) has crazy high standards for the plugin to match the hardware, so they aren’t gonna release it until it’s dead on. Here’s to hoping they nail it for the sake of our mixes 🤞
@@jbva804 They are amazing, but the Acustica Ruby plugin version does an amazing job for a fraction of the cost! I'd recommend at least grabbing the trial of it to see what you think.
Yeeeeeeep. The DW Fearn / Ruby stuff is a real thing in certain LA pop circles especially. For good reason - it sounds amazing! Thanks for the comment.
Glad this is helpful! Yes, God Particle does it all. It was designed to be able to be the only plugin on your mix bus, but I obviously add a few other plugs on most songs. I have used it on it's own before with great success. There is definitely compression (and lots of other good sauce) in the plugin!
I’m not enough of a studio one expert to know 100% what the workflow is over there, so maybe someone else can help me in the comments. But essentially these plugins go on your master output / bus / aux that the WHOLE mix will go through. These are the last plugins to touch your entire mix.
This varies from song to song. Some mixes I don't even need the trim, and others I'll pull it back a few db like on this one. The purpose of the trim is to ensure the mix isn't clipping before hitting the mixbus plugins. I'll also sometimes adjust the input / output on plugins later down the chain for the same reason. If you look closely at Ruby in this video, you'll notice I did this so that I wasn't hitting the God Particle too hard on the front end. Hope this helps!! 👊👊
Love your Channel bro i have 2 Questions 1. What camera do you film with ? 2. What do software do you use to show the screen with you and protools please help love your style
Hi there! Thanks for the kind words! 1. I use OBS to screen record, and capture audio high quality through Loopback! Hope that helps.
I have handful of different projects. Since I’m known first and foremost as a producer / songwriter “Christian Hale”, I didn’t want people to be confused with like “wait he’s an ambient artist now?”. So everything I do in the ambient / instrumental lane is under “Christian Wade” (I also have @Christivn, @Outskrtsmusic as different projects with their own sounds and vibes)
Probably true based on how your session is set up / gain structure, but I work on a pretty big variety of genres using slight variations on these exact settings. It's all whatever works for you though!
Hah!! You caught me with my hand in the cookie jar 🤣 🍪. But forreal the Ruby in the moment made me think of my vocal chain, which is how many folks have first found this channel 👊🏽. Thanks for the comment!
lol you didnt even gain match and to be honest i would never do what you did on the mixbus with a widener and a 16k boost so it seems "better".... Your better off just making the sides signal a db higher in volume and in most cases you wont have to use the image/widenr or the 16k eq boost, youll get a more full, open sound just by doing that without the chance of messing up phase.
