and true ! a girl in her 14/15 years old wrote a letter very destailed about her father’s abuse to her to Mission! she also said that their music was what kept her on. moved, they wrote this song for her! few years later she reached the band again to tell them that now everything is alright and she’s great in life!
I'd been a Mission fan for three years at this point - these were the first gigs I went to (at the time, of course, I assumed my last too). I'll never forget my parents writing me out of 6th form so I could travel to London and stay with family and attend these gigs: Best 18th birthday present ever, every night was brilliant! :-) J x
Such a great band, who should be as big as any other band out today. THIS song got to me when I first heard it. And recently when I found Carved In Sand again. The anguish and HEART in this...and actually all your music...is fucking fantastic. LOVE The Mission UK!
Daddy says "Come and sit on my knee" Daddy says "You're the only girl for me" 'Cos Amelia, "You're Daddy's favourite girl" Amelia, "Daddy loves his little girl" Daddy comes in the dark of night Daddy say "Don't be scared, it'll be alright" Amelia, "Daddy hates to see you cry" Amelia, "You're the apple of Daddy's eye" Daddy says "Dry your tears and give me a smile" Daddy says "If you're good I'll hold you awhile" 'Cos Amelia, "You're Daddy's precious girl" Amelia, "Daddy loves to love his little girl" "Daddy, tell me Daddy Is this really love?" Daddy says "Don't tell Mama what I did to you" Daddy says "If you do I'll beat you black and blue" 'Cos Amelia, "You make Daddy feel like a man" Amelia, "Daddy loves you more than Mummy can" "Daddy, tell me, Daddy How can you call this love?" Amelia Damn you daddy to hell
Ye love the name..and would of loved to of called my little princess..after the tune..?but on account of the subject matter ..I just couldn't...she was thirteen a few days ago ...and it wouldn't of been good saying to her ,,listen to this,,I named you after this song.....sorry ..miss Cadendhal... but I do love your name ..very old fashioned sounding also...partly why I like it.
Yeah, one might say my parents had a different take on it. They loved the song and they loved the name, there wasn’t much other thought behind it. My brother’s name is Jeremy too, so.. 😅
Jeremy after peal jam tune..( a guess) .. YES DIDN'T MEAN NOTHING BAD BY IT AMELIA...YOUR RIGHT TAKEN AS JUST A NAME .WITHOUT THE REASON OF WERE YOUR NAME WAS TAKEN .,THEN ITS A LOVELY NAME ( UNUSUAL ,AND RARE) .. BUT I WOULD OF ALWAYS KNOWN AND RELATED IT TO THE SONG ..IF I WOULD OF CALLED MY GIRL IT....SOMETIMES I THINK .I WISH ID NEVER HEARD THE SONG .....ANY WAY ..WE CALLED MY LITTLE PRINCESS...BROOKE.....( LOVELY, UNUSUAL AND RARE .) TAKE CARE MISS ,,,STAY SAFE... AND ABOVE ALL HAPPY.
Quien no conoce a the misión dicen que héroes del silencio fueron mejores jajajaja the misión sentaron las bases de ese sonido que en cierta manera se copiaron hasta en el atuendo y estilo musical
This song is blunt, ugly and repulsive, as is the subject. A brave choice, hard for some to hear, a good song to use the power of song to highlight issues such as this. Downside, but actually maybe a positive, when I listen to this song I can ony think of a close friend who was abused!
Absolute Masterpiece.
Album version..is awesome...classic album ....best they did....
This song stirs my anger into energy to struggle against and combat such abuse...
"Daddy, tell me, Daddy
How can you call this love?" -great song about abuse.love Wayne's voice

The voice breaks in Amelia’s parts make this song all the more heartbreaking to me. I KNOW kids who talk like that, man..
I was there at Shepherds Bush,London,a truely G8 gig,Mish on top form, crowd ecstatic!
Can the drummer rush this song any more than he is. Jesus
How long before Die Antwoord does a cover of this?
Love this song so much! Was gutted that The Mission clashed with Metallica at Download this year :(
Well surely that's a no brainer, fuck Metallica !!

Anyone else out there who was named after this song?
i went the other way.
i flatly refused to even consider naming my daughter Amelia due to this song.
