PRO TIP: Dumpster dive for furniture to get free stuff, make them a slob so they're less miserable about being a stinky mess! Forage/fish if you can't steal food! I have thr most fun playing as a plant sim for this challenge
Also, it's free to build a roof for some reason and it still provides cover from the rain!

Every time I do this challenge I start off by dumpster diving for a day or so to get start up capital. Or if my sim is a kleptomaniac I visit people and “borrow” some stuff
my worst desicion is to watch Kevin at night when everyone is asleep. I keep on doing it tho

Woah weird I just discovered ambiguousamphibian last week!
How to do this in real life:
1) Get someone to let you use their address on a job application. (You need to pretend to have a home to get a jov, even if you don't currently have a home. Homelessness is awful.)
2. Beg on the streets until you get enough money to get a large backpack, a hard hat, some sort of steel toed safety shoes (maybe dirt cheap steel toed rubber boots) and a safety vest. If you can't beg enough money to get those things, buy a cheap kazoo or plastic wood wind recorder from a kids toys store. Even though buskers and homeless people look almost equally sad buskers look like they're trying and are somewhat entertaining, so people are more likely to give money to buskers than homeless people.
3. Apply to a temp agency. Do temp jobs. You seriously thought a business would employ your smelly homeless tuchass right out the gate? Also you need money to start coming in ASAP.
(Actually some temp agenices loan workers personal protective equipment, so step 2 might have been completely pointless. You will need all that stuff eventually though.)
Also most temp jobs are SUPER simple. Like if you ever wondered "that guy's so dumb and/or dysfunctional, I wonder what he possibly does for a living" the answer is probably temping full time.
4. Keep temping. Walk to and from work at different job sites each day to save money. Empathise more with the world's refugees and people in developing countries.
5. Keep temping. Get a knife for protection. Get a straighr edged knife that can double as a box cutter (useful on many job sites) to sve money. To keep yourself safe and to avoid your stuff getting stolen, avoid homeless shelters. (Sadly most homeless shelters have way too many selfish $#1+h€@d drug addicts that regularly hurt and steal from other homeless people.)
6. Keep temping. Buy like 2 or 3 different cheap pairs of clothes. Learn where the public laundromats are, especially the ones that'll let you wear the minimum amount of clothes while you're washing and drying the rest of your clothes.
Get a gym membershp if you can so that you can use the showers there.
Even though many places that employ temps have low hygiene standards (not all temps are intelligent or sane) even those places draw the line at too much homeless person stench.
7. Keep temping. Finally get a bus pass, moped and/or a bicyle with three U-locks and three chain locks to stop hobos stealing the front wheel for crack/meth/fentanyl money. Finally no more risk of your legs falling off!
(Fun fact: You can get a gas moped kit for like only $200 USD in America and a really bad wally's world bicycle for only like $150 USD in America. It's cheap and fast albeit terrifyingly unsafe transportation.)
7. Keep temping. Get a sleeping bag, finally no more sleeping quite so rough!
8. Keep temping. Rent a motel room and set up weekly payments. Tell the temp company/companies you work for that you moved from your "totally real" former address to the motel. Finally you no longer have to fear the CRA/IRS/[limey government tax department]/[your country's government tax department] will arrest you for using a fake address!
9. Keep temping. Apply for and move into a horribly run down shared apartment in skid row with likely undesirable roommates. Now you've gone from living like a hobo to living like a college student!
10. Keep temping until you can get a job with people you do temp jobs for regularly (alot of companies temporarily regularly hire temps because they currently lack enough workers) or can use some of the people you temped for and/or some people working at the temp agency as resume references. (If you were jerks to them then you're $#1+ outta luck.)
11. Eventually take like night time college courses and/or save up enough money to live on while you're in college so that you can eventually get a higher paying job. Once you get the higher paying job you can finally stop temping.
Remember whatever you do don't spend too much times at pubs. That never helped anyone get more money.

I had twins drown at the same time in Sims 3. Never had a sim drown in 4, but I've never used that water garden either. I did have a sims 4 sim die in the first 10 minutes by getting struck by lightning twice.
The fastest death I got was back in Sims 2 💀
