@@RocknJazzer Yeah, they really have an amazing interplay between the individual instruments and some very interesting time signatures. Hellmut is the only bass player I have ever seen who plays sixteenth notes with a pick. He did however, get rid of the Rick (giving it to Karthago's bass player) and use an Ibanez for a while. I forget what kind of bass he uses now.
Wow, I never knew Peter played glissando guitar. Makes perfect sense now from the sound of the recording. These guys were über-tight. I would not miss the mimes;)
Nice bounce on the bass guitar there. A small Pastorius vibe there.. The mimes look just like the mimes in the film Blow Up,( the tennis scenes). The same outfit etc.
Yeah, zis is schprockets and I'm your host Dieter..... the music is pretty good for its time though - something tells me the guys from Kraan got a couple of good laughs out of those mimes!
Don't waste your time trying to convince me that not even one musician up there didn't want to swing a guitar or drumstick across the head of one of those mimes. Don't even think about it.
Saw Kraan live three times around the Frankfurt/Mainz area back around 1980. It was fantastic. The first concert was ion Mains Eltzer hof with the old drummer: fantastic. The second was with Gerry Brown: incredible! The third was with Gerry on drums and a vocalist who always played the keys. Still great, but I didn't like it as much as the other concerts. Still: when Ingo Bischof started hitting the keys, he brought the house down. Wonderful musicians throughout, great wacky German jazz-fusion.
@@RocknJazzer Your comment is hilarious; it shows that you are either remarkably ignorant, or hugely dishonest. Either way you're a wretched and desperate little man who is so full of shit that you may be reincarnated as colostomy bag

I'm sure they aren't mimes but dancers painted like mimes. Real mimes would eat them alive. Second, I'm sure they weren't Kraan's idea but rather some tv producer's. Either way the music is fantastic.
Was war das denn? Eine wildgewordene Horde Marcel-Marceau-Klones meets Rockjazz? Ach ja, so waren die 70er eben, immer mal gut für ne Idee eines übereifrigen Musikredakteurs...
Kraan is playing a good, acceptable jazz-rock and the clowns are playing a chicken without wings trying to fly music style, really strange, that moving arms pair is amazingly idiot pay to enter, pray to go away...
Such a great band, still touring and making new music. Truly one of my favorites!
Kraan in the studio = ok.
Kraan live = absolutely magnificent. One of the best bands ever.
This song is so terrible

That 7/8 groove is so good. I can't believe that bass line and the sound he gets.
Rickenbacker basses are so awesome!
Just a Rick with a Pick, ala Chris Squire of Yes long before this

I've only just discovered Kraan, and I am really just.....amazed by how incredible they are!
I just realised after almost 7 years of this being uploaded that its alternating phrases of 7/8 and 8/8 on the improv. Cool!
Yep. Especially Ingo's trademark wacky/funky virtuoso playing and typical sound. What a great keyboarder!
Fantastic bass line.
Agree to the previous comments. Completely cool + perfect track, the clowns disturb a bit. ;-)
Pantomime, längst vergessener Zeitgeist der 70er ..
That bass line was cold blooded.🙏🏾

I was scrolling through the comments til I found someone who mentioned the mimes. What the fuck were they doing? The music is amazing but really.

Gosh - sooo tasteful and characteristic!!! Love it!!!
Ed Wynne sent me here. Well, I have to say, he wasn't kidding. These guys are amazing!
I just knew Ed would be influenced by this band! I love ozrics, and obviously kraan!
Another great group, the Ozrics!
Some musicians play fast just because. This makes all the sense in the world and it's sounds awesome 👍🏾😎
fantastic music!!! love it.....love it....love it! thanks for upload!
This is absolutely awesome! Why hasn't anyone told me about Kraan before?!
I was trying to get ahold of you to tell you but you weren't answering.....🤷♂🤷♂
@@ChristopherJanisch-cc5nc WHAT! When was this??

I love Kraan. Thanks for posting. I miss Pappert from this line-up though. :)
That's actually a technique called 'glissando guitar', invented by Daevid Allen of Gong.:)
Steve Hillage also implemented glissando...

Holy crap, listen to that bassline....does Hellmut have four fingers on each hand, or more? Oops, he's using a pick. lol

great guitar trick with that screwdriver...
Gliss guitar that Gong was doing.

totally! i hate mimes!
+Hector Cepeda Then what are those mimes doing there? Did they take a wrong turn at the circus?
Difficult to say. Kraan may have taken a wrong turn.
Sometimes drugs do things with people that not everyone understands....maybe....
mimeshaming!

I have to confess thats my favourite part too.. inspired direction there!
@observer127 gotta watch them live bro, you will never forget that experience
Just before the two minute mark, the guitarist was using a screwdriver to sweep the strings on the fretboard...interesting and nice.
That technique is called 'glissando'.
man great musicians but why the mimes? for the love of god, who thought that was a good idea?
G Funk yeah....mimes? Pretty lame...why distract from the band in such a juvenile and bizarre way?

Hattlers basslines are so awesome
Pappert? No Ingo Yes!
Each to their own though
I THINK ALL 5 !!
@Lachlanau no problem for Helmut Hattler, genial am bass
