- No Copyright Infringement Intended * One of my most favourite songs of all time, Wilson Phillips gained worldwide success with their debut single "Hold On". The song went all the way to the top of Billboards Single Chart in 1990 and became the No.1 Single of the Year. This live performance was from the 1st Annual Billboards Music Awards in 1990.
AS good AS in the Album Love that Song and the EXCELLENT vocals...timeless
The 90’s was pretty much the last decade of INCREDIBLE music. No one can tell me different.
Congratulations you just made a weirdo comment 😅😂🤣
I have to agree with you there sadly it was although i do like todays music i loved the 80's and 90s's music more
Sure they can ... You just won't listen ... Music is objective & subjective, thus we like what we like - no right or wrong ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
Well, through 1996. A lot of music sucked after 1996.
That’s not true though
Hear this song on the radio a lot. It’s great!
Nice group with beautyful songs
One of my all time favourites
I never got into the whole grunge scene in the early '90s. I love good music, and this is great music. I'm just grateful that I grew up with great parents who turned me on to a wide verity of music!
Class is timeless
No lip singing , so good ,insightful and energetic
Artists did lip sync back then sometimes
@@joewhitehead3 Milli Vanilli.
@@joewhitehead3 More than sometimes. They were doing it in the '80's.
OMG! I remember watching this. It feels like if it were yesterday.
same here
Awesome performance! And to think that Chynna was only 22 yrs old at the time; they were so young but so talented. :))
Love this!!! Still reminiscing about the 90s :-)
Crazy that I was about 8 months along when this aired. I’m now 28 and I’ll be 29 April 14. Crazy. I love this song.
Very NIce thanks for posting
I was 10 years old at the time this came out. And I'm blown away at how things have changed. I fucking love how the crowd gets into it! :-)
This album is in my top 5 favs of all-time. Pop perfection. Glen Ballard also produced another top 5 album fav of mine, Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette. This performance is great. A lot more energy and I prefer this arrangement over their Grammy performance of this song.
Damn! what a great performance for a wonderful song!
If this video is getting more and more views by the day is because of me. I've been nostalgic for the past 3-4 weeks and been on a WP binge. I can still remember the first time I saw them on tv. Imagine, they were a fresh act in the 90's, they all sound good, they're all beautiful (given fact) and the way they sound as one (Wilson Phillips) is so unique that it captivated me at 14-16 yrs old.
Saw Wilson Phillips live in 1990 in Utica NY War Memorial as opening act for Richard Marx. A very high energy show by all ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
what a beautiful and talented women...
They have chemistry in those days.
Oh God......please turn back the time..:'(
Right?! Exactly how I felt.
today's music sucks....actually everything sucks...:p
You should watch OG3NE. They are the new Wilson Philips of this time, cause they got beautiful harmonies too
Only Cher can do that ...
Seen them twice. Amazing!
Pure Talent! 😊
She was very excited
90s were the best
I love this song
y'all don't know what good music is
Awesome
y'all don't know what good music is
Jesus when the whole audience started clapping along I burst into tears. 30 years later LOL, get a grip.
That's feeling the music. Nothing wrong with that. Just try and hold back if your on the bus haha.
Polygrip may help ... tooth be told ...
Tears? Must be hormonal
I love this song
It's so obvious both Wendy and Carnie inherited Brian and Carl Wilson''s ability to harmonize. It was a big reason why the beach boys were so popular.. Now these ladies are following in their footsteps.
Yes!!! Thank you so much for sharing this video with us!!!
Sounds good live.
divine.
Chynna Phillips was in 1988's Caddyshack 2 She played Miffy Robert Stacks daughter.
It's from 1990 and wasn't recorded in Widescreen. whoever resized it into widescreen didn't do any of them any favors, why do people do that?
Oh well is it widescreened? Well I recorded this on my VHS and kept it until a few years ago when I transferred this to digital format with the same specs and made no alternations. I did not notice any difference, well maybe it's just me and my vision or whatever
By the way Carnie did look that wide (apologies Carnie I love you) it's not due to widescreen alternations
You must have not done it on purpose then, some people can't tell... but look at Chyna's face when the vocals start. See how her face is really wide and stretched out like a cat? The video originally would have been almost square but now it's long and wide like modern monitors. Instead of just putting black lines on the side, one of the video software things you ran it through stretched it out. Carnie was wide but she wasn't THAT wide give her a little credit :)
TO: @@LyonsArcade & tcleehk:
Indeed, there probably was some simple "check mark" when you did the initial upload onto You Tube, that was pre-clicked for "present in widescreen". The error was not made during your digitizing process. I encourage you, tcleehk, to bring back up in your computer this video transfer (if you still have the file) and re-upload.
Indeed, Carnie's back-end does look very, very bloated...more than it should be, as well as Chyna's, where she was fairly slim back then.
The widescreen/anamorphic process, usually takes the image on the outer most areas and renders it's stretching there, that's why when you see the drummer in the initial "static" shot (at 00:03) he himself doesn't look too stretched, because he is totally in the center view and the camera is not panning on him.
About the fact that widescreen was not available in 1990, is true and not true. True, in the sense that videocams and analoge video mixing systems were still pretty much recording in the 4:3 dimension (square box), but 90% of all films, were done in the 1:75.1 (standard widescreen) or the very wide 2:35.1 (letterbox) like "The King & I", "Ben Hurr" & even "Space Odyssey 2001" & "Dirty Harry"; but live Network TV telecast, not at that time...not at all.
When 16X9 came out in the early/mid-2000's, it created all kinds of video errors, incorrect synthesis & "fake stretching", such as we see here in the Wilson Phillips Billboard Music Awards capture.
Don't get me wrong "tcleehk"; thank you for bringing back this great moment in TV music history, but it made a wee bit too "wide" of an entry! (ha!)

Love CHYNNA’s Christian YT channel CALIFORNIA PREACHIN. I’ve been subbed for over a year now. She’s on FIRE for the LORD.
Chyna is so damn cute
Let's be honest. Chynna is not cute. She is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen...
She looks alot like her momma Michelle Phillips, when Michelle was young.
Chynnas THE VERY BEST!!!
Could you upload (if you have it) the band known as "Breathe" performing? I am pretty sure they also preformed at these awards the same year.
I don't recall Breathe performing on Billboard Music Awards that year, I only have Wilson Phillips and Nelson's performance but could have a look though
@@tcleehk I could be thinking of 1991, but I do remember seeing a picture in a music magazine I owned of breathe from after the show, I do not remember the year but I am pretty sure it was the early 90's, as Breathe released a few singles in 1990 that did decent in the charts.
Wow does Chyna look like her mom Michelle Phillips from the nomas and popa's here! Love that song.
Chynna Phillips rocks...
The Wilson sisters hold down the harmonies tight. Chynna is pitchey
I was 18 girl in 1990
👏👏💔🎶
2:21 OMG
Chyna is so damn cute
Goes on my strange addiction
“I’m addicted to plastic surgery to look like chynna in 1990”
Sounds good live.
🎅🎅🎅
RIP great music. These days are so full of crap.
Back then artists often lip synced
wow, not bad at all!!
I had a huge crush on Chynna that time.

Hmmmm, more difficult to be yourself then, rather than a knockoff cookie cutter ...
Chyna is about a hot as they come.
Most are pretty hot when that happens ...
Umm the lead singer tho, a touch flat here sorry to say 🙄, but other wise good memories of the times 💗
Слишком быстро... too much speed...
Ah, the early 90s. Such a confusing time for music lol...
+jname96 Yeah because everything was amazing, got a lot of us confused, today we can be more certain of how pretty much everything fuckin sucks.
Bahaha! You nailed it!
So true lol
jname96, you are so right. There is always someone who maintains that music should always have to change. Like Jann Browne said in the early 90's, [Tell me why]? Grunge was never necessary. Never. Some music is just timeless. Why does that have to be a bad thing? Tell me why? Again, jname96, you are on the money. Wilson Phillips were and are talented women. The apple doesn't fall too far from the tree.
You are exactly right... But look at it this way: the 90s was such a free experimental decade for music, artists in 1990 were A) tryin to shake off the remnants of the 80s,and B) trying wild new stuff to see what worked.
Aspect ratio fail this should be in 4:3. Makes Carney even wider than she should be.
is that Kim Kardashian on the keyboards?
No, Kim was on the flute, oh you know what kind ...
She’s wearing a bra for top!
Schlecht gesungen, tut in den Ohren weh❗🙈😱
Sorry but Chynna does not sound good. Very pitchy.
My ears hurt. Lol
