    I gave myself one hour to go through my house and assemble a makeshift BUG-OUT bag and truck setup to get out of town in a disaster scenario. Remember, I am not a prepper and none of the items in this video were purchased with the intent to be used as part of a BUG-OUT setup so keep in mind that there are infinitely better options for each item (except for the Deuce...I mean come on! It's a Deuce!). As in a real emergency situation I missed a few things such as a first-aid kit and a sleeping bag (it's still warm here) but I think this video shows a decent effort for someone who has not prepared for such an event. Also, this picture was put together for the SilencerCo BUG-OUT picture competition called, "Living In The Red". If you enjoyed this video please give me a like and be sure to subscribe for future channel updates as I plan to put up a new video every week or two. Welcome to my channel BC's Deuce and Guns!

    Tow bar for cars you find and want to keep (doubles as storage/trailer). Tow a small found trailer to a secluded place, then ditch it when its time to move on. Tool box. Plastic 50 gallon water barrel in the back, another 50 gallon for fuel, dirt bike for scouting, tent under the tarp, rocket stove, cooler, gear locker. Boondock in it NOW to get used to locations and routes. Seems like fun, I need to get me one.

    The great advantages of this beast of a truck is that it is VERY RELIABLE!!! Yes it is a HUGE beast to drive around, it isn't the most fuel efficient vehicle and it isn't very comfortable. But it does get the job done. I would like to convert one of these into a vehicle with awnings off the side. Fold out tent on the cab of the truck, I would box the cargo area which would have a small living space and cargo space for everything and on top of the enclosed back section would be a racking system for various cargo.
    There's just so much you can do with a vehicle like this!!!

    If you had the cover for the bed you could just set up a small tent in the bed of the truck and use that as shelter und you wont have to worry about the tent leaking or flooding because the bed cover on the truck would help prevent that from happening plus it would help keep your tent insulated from the elements.

    For your own sake take your bug out "setup" up in the mountains this summer and live for at least 1 week. Just try it. Don't throw in any creature comforts or extras, just what you have here. Then keep in mind in a real bug-out SHTF a single week is on the absurdly low side.
    For an added bonus see if your Deuce will even get you from your home in the city to a reasonably comfortable campsite without haveing to "procure" fuel.
    Also don't put transmission and engine oil in the fuel; that's not what they mean by multi-fuel, you're going to have clogged filters before you get 100 miles. The reliability of military vehicles is a myth, they're designed with the expectations of a fully staffed and supplied wheel vehicle maintenance company to be available. In terms of MPG and meantime between failure or major maintenance any commercial vehicle will out-perform any military vehicle (In their defense military vehicles are more rugged and bulletproof).

      Because we don't know what that is. LOL! I sold my deuce and a half after I figured out what a big ol' albatross it really was. I'm not knockin' yer rig tho bro. Very cool and fun, if you can afford it. On a serious note, I can't really figure what a real SHTF "bug out" event would be. I know all us folks out in the country are pretty much geared up to take out the city folks that try to come where WE are. Can you imagine what "bug out day" is really gonna look like in town? Just about every young to middle age suburban male these days visualizes himself as the second coming of Rambo! Ha! I can just see it now: Its 2100 hours in early November, just about dusk, and CNN and FOXNews are reporting an imminent Soviet air attack. Suddenly, in a neighborhood near yours, every other side yard gate flies open, and a thousand 4x4 pickup trucks pulling 5th wheel trailers attempt to roll out onto the street at once....INSTANT TRAFFIC JAM, and everyone jumps out with AR15's to proclaim their preeminent right to be king of the road and master of all survivalists! Hahahaha! They'll all be eating MRI's in situ the following morning!

    I'd like to see a more in depth video. There's a ton you could do to set up that deuce for bugging out. You could carry at least 20 gallons of water in the bed or set up a RV style water tank under the bed. Auxiliary fuel tank, few totes with dehydrated food, tools tools tools galore... I could list off for a log time...

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's a ton (actually 2.5 tons) that you could do with a deuce. It wouldn't be hard to store a years worth of food along with water and fuel filtration systems in the back and still have a small sleeping area back there. In the future I'll do some, "what is possible" deuce bugout truck videos so stay tuned and thanks for watching.

(ta stop vehicles with), and I stocked up on my sniper equipment. VOILA! Even with all my SHTF knowledge about finding fuel for my all fuel truck, I wasn't seeing that as a very likely way to go. The Toyota, 4dr, 4WD, with my small trailer seems more reasonable (if we don't just stay here). Nice big ol' truck ya got there though bubba! ;^)

    Hey, a little tip here. Remove the damn speed governor, and the replace it with one that allows you to go 85 mph. If you really think about it, yeah, no other civilian type vehicle won't stand to this truck here, but it ain't incredibly fast either. In case of a disaster, or something, you need to be able to move quickly, especially if you got someone trying to take you truck from you because the are so damn desperate. My cousin has one, and changed the speed governor.

    You have that big ass truck and you haven’t figured out how to incorporate shelter into it? The bed is easily large enough to pitch a tent in at night. And the bed is thick metal, so fire (camp stoves, etc) inside that bed area is certainly not out of the question.
    Personally, I’d never consider such a vehicle - too big, too noisy, too attention getting (someone might shoot at me thinking I am the military), and far too difficult to obtain parts. I’ve chosen a smaller, more common, vehicle.

      Always a fine balance between capacity, capability, and stealth. Hard to have all 3. Jeep (capability & stealth). Motorhome (capacity and stealth). Deuce (capability and capacity).
      With the Jeep, you'll be out of supplies in days. With the RV, you'll be stuck at the first ditch crossing. With the Deuce, you have no stealth. Got to pick one...

    So much for the 5lbs bugout challange, this guys is going with the 15,000lbs bugout setup.
    Nothing "wrong" with an old duce, as a former Army wheeled vehicle mechanic I like them, but I would be cautious of drawing unwanted attention driving something like that when SHTF. I would opt for the old Toyota diesel truck (before they were called the Tacoma) They go anywhere, tough as nails, almost 40 MPG (yes we had one back in the 80s) and is not as likely to catch the eye of big brother when Martial law kicks in.

    Ukraine is apparently sell BTR-152's and I was wondering what your opinion as regarding employing one of these as a bug-out-vehicle?The BTR-152 is a wheeled 6X6 armored personnel carrier with the ability to accommodate up to 18 passengers plus two crew members. These vehicles are already armored against small-arms fire, have significant storage capacity, have proven themselves capable off-road vehicles in climates ranging from northern Russia to South Africa, can to fitted with litters (to serve as bunk beds), and are initially significantly less expensive then US surplus vehicles (not factoring shipping, which I have yet to investigate/calculate).

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They'd be more than adequate for a bugout vehicle. Admittedly, I'm not an expert on them but I'd assume they're probably poor fuel economy and good reliability. The only small issue I see is that they wouldn't be as useful truck wise once you've reached your destination. If you can get one cheap and they're fun to drive why not pick one up. Hope you never have to use it for a true bugout situation and only use it for fun.

    Now, how much life are you going to get out of your engine if you do just throw whatever you want into the fuel tank? I'd think that you'd want to be as easy as possible on something that plays a huge key part in your survival. Love the setup though. Maybe add a dual sport bike for scouting purposes. A lot you could do with a setup like this!

      +Colt Rice I'm trying to get a video up every week. It'll be a few weeks at least before I can get back down to the farm for a Deuce video. Congrats on the 5-ton by the way they are awesome trucks. I'm not as well versed in the 5-tons as I am with the Deuce but if you have any questions ask away. Also, I'm pretty sure you can download all the TMs from Steel soldiers on the M923 just like the M35 trucks.

    • @ColtRice17
      @ColtRice17 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I understand and thank you I will. I have downloaded all the TM's I could find most from Steel Soldiers and have printed off everything I could get my hands on. the only thing I am having problems with is I cant figure out which parts from the cummins 855 family will interchange with the 250. the reason why is I would like to find an exhaust and intake manifold and turbo etc to turbo charge this beast. yours looks and sounds great by the way. and your new video was great I didn't know that about the little bibles. I didn't really think about it to be honest.

I've got a lot of little things I'm planning maintenance wise for the Deuce as well as at least one or two small upgrades. Good Suggestion. I'll eventually upgrade when this Craftsman dies. It was of thoses, "I need a chainsaw asap" kind of purchases. For the price it's not bad. It's under powered and drips oil for days after being run but it was just over $100 and Sears was close. Thanks for watching.

      No problem! Awesome vid btw, but yeah I have one at work and at home, the farm boss is a big saw that's not huge but will cut through any tree you put it into. I was amazed because I think it's only like a 22" or a 24" but it cuts big pine trunks like its a 2x4. A little on the heavy side but shit there mean, just need to keep up on the bar and chain oil witch I'm sure a man of your skill could make from some sort of oil and a coffee filter.

And also, what oil would you use in the saw since there is no 2 stroke oil available? I know old saws made around the time your deuce is made used 30 weight motor oil as lube, but the saw only ran no more then 4000 rpm.

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      1/3 oil to diesel is a good general ratio. 50/50 would be fine in warm >80f and in an emergency 100% motor oil will work but will put a huge strain on your pumps. Also, unless it's super clean I'd filter it. I'll be doing a video on this at some point but for the occasional user I recommend the 5gal bucket filters that biodiesel people use.

    • @deuceandguns

      It could be converted to use woodgas. All the fuel pumps would need to be disconnected to keep them from burning out if they were to be saved and the engine wouldn't last long due to it using the diesel as a lubricant but for an emergency it would work.

      I've never worked on a Stryker but if you treat a Deuce right and keep up the maintenance which is a ton then it'll last for many many years with no issues. The main gremlin that shows up often is the braking system.

      +DEUCE AND GUNS Hmmm. Husky makes good saws in Sweden. Their high end saws are made there. Then their box store saws are made in "other places" and that is likely where the saw you got was made. There is not going to be any Craftsman saw made the same as high end Husky. Craftsman does make some good hand tools tho.

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you keep with the NDT tires $100-$200ish per tire. The rear tires last a long time but the fronts only about 10k miles due to the extra weight of the engine. Of course these numbers are dependent on the use, inflation, and surface they are driven on. If you go with a more modern tire they'll last much longer. Thanks for watching.

    Why or how does the duece run on any fuel? I just don't understand the fact oil can be used as a fuel let me know thanks

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The engine is a compression engine like a diesel but uses a higher compression ratio that'll ignite just about anything within reason. Regular diesels are also called oil burners because diesel is basically a slightly more refined oil and gasoline is an even more refined version of oil.

    • @Aj-tb5vm
      @Aj-tb5vm 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      DEUCE AND GUNS so basically you could get 5 gallon of gas and 5 gallon of oil and mix it and it would run good or sluggish? Have you ever needed to rebuild this? What engine do you have in it, i like the content you film you defiantly deserve more subs

    • @deuceandguns
      @deuceandguns  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A 50/50 mix of motor oil and gas would be fine but there would be a slight hit with both power and fuel economy because it's still designed to run best on straight diesel. The engine is a Multi-fuel engine built by Hercules and designed for the Deuce and a half and similar military vehicles.

      Not a Cummins. Technically, it's not even a diesel engine but it is a type of compression engine. This one was designed by REO and built by Hercules. By following a few rules it'll run on anything that'll burn ranging from used motor oil to moonshine.

      willem kauffeld Then we have a catch 22 situation - get a big off road truck capable of carrying stuff he wants - otherwise why buy/use the truck? Run out of fuel... the stuff you wanted can't be carried?
      It's also a target. IMO better to have hidden caches of stuff - rather than try and hump everything around in one big "come and rob me" target.
