Awesome throwback conversation about MVC2! Philippines have already re-adjusted to Default (Level 2 Damage) since Year 2019 when FChamp hosted a series of tournaments in the Philippines.
We had a recent DC version local All-Tier tournament (I was not able to join though) and JR Bata was still the winner with his MSP. 3rd place is SilenceGuy that plays low/mid tier!

I was confused at first, thought this was a re-upload, then I quickly realized I was watching your channel. I really hope something comes of this, I really would like a modern way to play MvC 1 and 2. Thankfully I have my Dreamcast and both games still, so I at least have an option to play it.

I have my Dreamcast I’ve had since I was 12 and a half. (If you think I got it in the late 90s then uhh... I’m 15 lol.) I don’t have MvC1 or 2 though so I emulate MvC2. At least I have Ultimate MvC3.
@@Jeffmetal42 Oh it’s pretty simple I set it up nicely when I got it, though my controls stopped on Super Gem Pocket Fighter which was pretty weird.
The Phillipine setting is actually how me and my friends played MvC2 for years. We didn't like how quick the matches were over in normal damage. I actually still think this game shines at damage setting 1.

I still play it in my PS2 with my best friend and is always such a fun time. I really love this game my favorite of all fighting games ,there's always some glitch or something crazy that happens that makes you go "wooooohhhh". Great video, thank you Justin and Max for keeping it alive.
I think if it comes back, they should include a mission and tech mode to help new players get used to it a bit quicker.

They need a versus CPU mode.
They need endings.
They need an extra mode where we can costumise the characters and unlock tons of things.
They could also add a 1v1 and 2v2 mode.
They could add more songs and more stages.
There is ALWAYS sth to improve on, no game is perfect and we should always strive for improvement.
I would remove the game breaking bugs like gambit going off screen etc.
Seeing the same 3-4 teams played over and over is what made my lose interest in MvC2 back in the day. Seeing these goofy looking teams that actually work make me want to watch more.

@2:14-@2:40 the truest words I’ve heard! I can relate to that so much. Especially with the versus games like MVC3, MVCI & DBFZ. Playing those than going back to MVC2 between last year and this year, I’ve been able to optimize with my combos. For a second I thought the meta changed. But propel are playing differently. (Ref to low tier teams)
Being someone that's played consistently since it came out, on every platform, I will say this. For you and many others that is true. You can go play different games and come back to this with a different perspective or mentality and it will make you better with other characters but people who genuinely love the game, like me, play EVERYONE, which should be your goal in EVERY game, shouldn't take years to figure that out. Truth is, people who like this game have been maxing out their skills with every character and can say with confidence, the tiers are NOT changed and the strats are the same. What I mean is yes you can combo more comprehensively like with assists and conventional resets and whatnot but it doesn't change the other little stuff like Jill sliding, for example. Yeah you can combo and pressure but you WILL slide eventually, it's what she's good at if you don't, you're handicapping yourself. I work and play at the same arcade, sorry 😐 the #freemarvel had don't NOTHING for the machine. That said, if you see a machine, play it.
Definitely something like a ratio mode. The standard QoL changes like Rematch and Training mode settings. Hell, give it the option to save your favorite teams (with colors, order, and assist), just like Marvel 3 has. I know the impact the MvC2 soundtrack has had over the years, but I'd love to hear some classic XSF, MSH, and Marvel 1 tunes mixed in as well. Wouldn't mind older stages brought in either, but Marvel 2 stages are pretty iconic so I don't think they're needed.

If I could add anything to Marvel versus Capcom 2 it be to find out if there were any scrap characters do the time restraints that could be added back to the game
I played MVC2 at the mall arcade, and at the arcade as a kid. I didn't play it anywhere else, and when I got ps1-4 we got MVC3, i'd say MVC3 brought GENERAL gamers to MVC2. But most that played MVC2 ONCE, knew how great the game was. I'd try all my favorite characters and try and win. Nothing better.
I almost failed college when this game was in the arcades. Yes I'm old but I also love this game.
I think adding more characters by completing the sphere would be dope
Adding characters that are in UMvC3, MvC:I (hey it has some new characters at least), new Capcom characters and Marvel characters that have gotten popular. Sounds awesome. I’d definitely enjoy seeing Daredevil join.

When it comes to keeping the game as original as possible without changing anything from gameplay. The only main thing I would like to add into the game is endings for every character. Beating the game and only seeing the Credits doesn’t feel satisfying. Ik theres 50+ characters to make an ending for but thats the only thing I think of that could make it better than it already is if originality was to be kept intact.
If many changes were allowed. I would like to see what the game could have turned out if:
•All the animations from the prev games were kept intact
•If it was made as a 6-Button Fighter instead of 4-buttons
•If all the moves characters had in prev games were kept intact
•if instead of the 3D backgrounds. All the stages/music from CotA to MVC1 were brought over to MvC2
•If they would have gotten the announcer from MSH VS SF to reprise his role for MvC2.
•If they could have found some way to do a cross fever like mode for MVC2.
If theres some reality where all that was put together it would truly be a masterpiece of a Marvel fighting game.
It would likely be a Mugen though.
It would be cool if we could get like a remaster of the game with some new characters like Dante, Zero, Nero, Lady, & more with rollback as well. I doubt that would ever happen but I'm just saying it would be pretty cool if we but regardless #FreeMVC2
I kinda remember when mvc2 came out. I believe there were 3d fighters on the rise at that moment so I totally ignored mvc2. Thought it was a thing of the past because I was dumb at the time and thought graphics were everything. Mvc3 really opened my eyes to mvc2. I think I'm still more of a fan of 3 than 2 but 2 is one of the craziest most fun fighters of all time.
Balancing without question. You don't have to weaken the strong characters but you absolutely should strengthen some of the weak ones
My suggestions for marvel vs capcom 2 remake:
1. Have preview of the character assist moves at the character select screen.
2. Adding in more new characters into the game.
3. Have all kinds of character forms and able to transform during battle.
4. Nerfing the s tier characters attacks, so that they will be more equal as other characters.
5. Have random character select teams and compatible teams buttons.
6. Make abyss to be playable.
7. Allowing players to choose for HD or 3D graphics for the game.
8. Allowing players to power up, heal 20%-30% hp and changing forms with hypercombo gauge with 2 or more levels.
9. Making protege a dream match secret boss like in king of fighters.
10. Creating new games like marvel vs capcom vs snk and etc. Either with mvc2 or cvs2 style.
11. Allowing players to turn to the correct direction of the opponent during hypercombo, if the opponent were to jump behind.
12. Strengthening up some of the weak characters with better moves.
13. Make the assist characters to either execute random moves or moves that the ai thinks is the best for the situation.
14. Make nearly all the characters will be compatible with each other for team hypercombo.
15. Have infinity stones like in marvel vs capcom infinite.
16. Allowing us to parry like in capcom vs snk2.
We need X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom 1 back in the fighting game community, too. Not just Marvel vs Capcom 2. Marvel vs Capcom 3/Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Marvel vs Capcom 4: Infinite are not as good as X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom 1 and Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Crazy. In high school my group of friends only played the rules they play in the Philippines just because we emphasized combo’s if you wanted to win
All I know is I want my team of Cable, Spidey and Venom back to do arcade or play friends. We need this game. We got the great Umvc3 remastered we need this game too.
Ratio system sound cool, rollback, lp+hp/lk+hk buttons, match transition similar to mvci, voice chat, lobbies similar to xrd rev2
Yo, my cousin and I used to do our own tourney that involves the whole roster. Basically if you lose you have to change your team but characters you've chosen before, can't be selected anymore. Except for your last roster which leaves you with 2 unpicked and 1 repick.
Matches can be wonky but yeah gotta strategise when to play your top team.
Tier issues shouldn't be solved in-game because not everyone will wanna play it that way. But perhaps custom saved lobby rules and people can see the rules on a rulecard press square to see or something, so people can choose to participate in different lobby types. And those lobbies then, can implement a point system or ban system, but a point system needs to show all the char's point cost on the card.
I wouldn't call mvc2 perfect due to the lack of balance for the competitive roster.
But if the game were to be patched so that every character and team combination were good, then I do believe it would be perfect.
I still have my MvC2 for ps2 minty fresh.

ALL THESE CHARACTERS I CAN USE(and not just 8-10 options LIKE SOME GAMES NOW), the music, the u.i., the designs, the gameplay! I love this game!
Game was so fun back in the day but that's because no one locally or at my arcade was truly elite.
I tried playing on emulation. Anyone hardcore enough to play emulation is a pro that only plays top tier. They never drop an infinite and use TOD combos.
Game is super broken lol. If you both agree to ratio then sure it's fun since very few people put enough time to be godlike at that. But if you give ratio mode 5 years, it will be solved and they will figure out the top tier ratio teams and learn all infinites/tods. Right now ratio is cool because it's unsolved.
Give more characters freeform combos. That's what I'd do. Being able to do Amingo loops without the hayato glitch would be dope, and giving more characters access to stuff like that would only be better. Give people a reason to play something other than a top tier than "I like 'em".
Some changes for an EX mode off the top of my head:
-rebalance/fix characters (even if nerfing the gods to do so)
-all characters have at least 2 supers
-6 button, 2 assist layout (most modern controllers have 8 or more buttons)
-character themes for everyone
-old VS stages (and maybe some new ones)
-Rogue's kiss steals 1 special and 1 super move (like XvSF Akuma fireball/raging demon). Power up for kissing Rogue ditto
-maybe throw in some modern characters like Deadpool and dante
-maybe throw in random reps like Donovan and Squirrel Girl
***I know none of this will happen, but it's nice to dream...

But seriously, if all characters could bring more (or less) to the table, and if they'd actually listen to the community, I think they could adjust several things to make the game more fun and competitive for various teams. Example: Cable guard breaking and ahvb sniping someone to death with full health is some BS! It's funny to see, but c'mon...
On the other hand, Cable's second super looks cool, but is pretty much useless. I wish they'd fix/buff time flip, and nerf air hvb

When I first played the game I thought that 3 vs 3 was too much loll. I was like is 4 vs 4 next.

Have you seen Clayton's hayato stuff? The man made a 100% hayato combo without dhcing.
Also for the upcoming steam release that nobody knows about yet, can we please just get it as close to the arcade release as possible?
Currently you can backup the Xbox 360 game into USB without modded system and wait until Xenia emulator runs it without issues. Flycast emulator is also good for the Dreamcast or Naomi release.

As a guy who doesn't own a pc to game I would pay top dollar to play this again. It sucks being limited to what I can only play on the ps4 truly a missed classic for myself and many others.

I feel like with the capitol both Marvel and capcom have rn, if they wanted to, they could make mvc2 THE Fgc esport that’s FTP with cosmetics and a supported competitive scene with recognizable ip. They just gotta make the investment

And lastly, if there was a ratio mode, online or otherwise, would the ratios change slightly based on use? If Gambit or Hulk ended up oppressive as 2 points, would they go to 3 points after a couple months?

Max I must say I do agree with you if you remaster marvel versus Capcom two I would love to see that quick rematch button that rematch buying for sure after a match and also the ability to save your teams like you were in marvel versus Capcom three you were able to make three teams that you could save so you don’t have to spend so much time on the character select screen choosing your characters I like that option for marvel versus Capcom two hopefully it’s just a marvel versus Capcom for at this point but if they release mothers car come to that would be awesome if they did at the rematch Brian as well as the ability to save three teams

At the time marvel versus Capcom two came out Disney had nothing to do with us so you know I just don’t understand why they making such a big deal about it Disney deserves no money in the Marvel versus Capcom two deal or any game before that because Capcom already cleared these issues legally there that’s why we even saw the game in the first place why is Disney trying to you know interfere with the fans getting games that they love from this company I just don’t understand that it really upsets me as a fan that you know companies that have nothing to do with this are getting involved trying to get money where they really have no right to get money you know if it was a brand new game I could understand if it was a marvel versus Capcom for I can understand Disney getting involved but marvel versus Capcom who was already clear legally and they should be able to sell it however the hell they want and I personally want to purchase the collection right now and they holding me back from it and it’s not it’s upsetting

If Masahiro sakurai can put every character in the background for 1 stage and get 50 music tracks for a single dlc pack then there is no reason why capcom can't get together with snk to rerelease cvs2
