I love falafel, who doesn’t ? Great recipe ! I love Lebanese food and gastronomy, it’s the best in the world. I’m from Norway, I got the chance to study Arabic at the American University of Beirut eight years ago, it was wonderful.... beautiful country, people, rich culture and history. This is Lebanon in a nutshell. Shokran!

I love falafel & thanks for telling us the correct way to say it. I also like how you made the sandwich on the entire flat bread, & wrapped the filling, instead of cutting it in half, & then filling in the pocket. This way, it holds together better. I like to fold the bottom edges up 1st, & then fold the sides in, to make wraps, in general, less messy to eat - especially with wanting to hold in chopped veggies, & a delicious sauce. So many pockets rip along the edges when they're cut in 1/2 & then filled, making eating them without falling ingredients ending up on your clothes a challenge, or requiring leaning over the plate.
I'm wondering if you made a mistake in saying to add in the baking soda in just before cooking. As I understand it - and I'm no expert falafel maker, by any means, but do enjoy cooking, the way I heard it, the baking soda is added to the water when soaking the chickpeas. Then, after the pulverized mixture has been chilled, just before frying or baking, is when we add chickpea flour (optional), & baking soda to the mixture.
This way allows the baking powder to interact with the previously added baking soda, to lighten the mixture, as when baking things like cupcakes, cakes, cookies & breads.

your demo shows the chickpeas soaked overnight and then directly fried in oil or baked. isn’t pre boiling needed?

I use a gluten-free flour mix that's 1:1 substituted for regular flour. It works with any flour you want because it's a very small amount just to thicken it and make it more flaky. I hope you subscribe soon as I'll be doing more vegan dishes for sure!

I am making these today but now I'm confused, you mention not to use canned chickpeas because of the moisture level and how adding flour to compensate completely ruins the texture of the falafel. Then later when you're actually making the falafel with soaked chickpeas, you add 2 tablespoon of flour, which is not listed on the ingredients for the falafels on your website. Please explain!

You can freeze the cooked falafel for up to 3 months. Place the cooled falafel on a baking sheet in the freezer until they are completely frozen. Then transfer them to freezer bags or an airtight container. To reheat the frozen falafel, bake in a 350°F oven for 5 minutes, or until until warmed through and crispy.

If you use that kind of bread, I can really recommend, to tear it apart, so that you have two round sheets. Then wrap everything in one of the layers and then the other layer around. It holds better like this and the bread gets a nicer consistency. All the good falafel stores here make it like this.

Thank you for doing real subtitles!!
It takes time and effort which is why so many channels use auto caption and never even bother to do a quick proofread, but when subtitles are done right it is REALLY, REALLY appreciated.

Don't do what I did and add a tablespoon of salt! The recipe list needs updating, it's half a teaspoon!

I'm just watching and checking comments in the meantime, she does add a tablespoon of flour to "suck up the moisture" then she adds half a teaspoon of salt. Either they updated it or you cross them by mistake. Glad I read your comment you'll save many from losing track of the details!

I love making falafels ..I like that you added a baking option...also I will try grape seed oil for frying..I love to add Jalapeño to the mixture for an added kick to make falafel taste like “felefel” .... Love your video...

Hello, appreciate the receipt and all the details (I've had fried Falafel from several restaurants), but i was looking forward to the instructions on baking it. I don't see any other videos about baking it by you. What temperature do you set the oven for and how long should i let them back for?

I've been making these for a while now but came back to see about baking them. Thanks. Turned out great. I cooked extra and used them, cut in quarters, as "croutons" on some lentil soup.

FYI: adding (regular) flour to your falafels does not make them gluten-free.

    • @Feelgoodfoodie
      @Feelgoodfoodie  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The flour is optional, and you can use any gluten-free flour in the recipe to make the gluten-free. It's essentially a gluten-free recipe

I made this recipe today. All from scrach, the falafel, the pita bread and the tahini sauce. It was the best falafel that I ever made. I loved this recipe. It is easy and tasty. Thank you for sharing. Next I want to try the houmous with the mince meat and pune nuts.
