L Entite is my favorite song from First Fragment and I think the album art for Gloire Eternelle is INSANE. Really excited for the new album. Great podcast as always!
the new album is finally out bruddah, and every single fking song is an absolute banger, and i usually never like every song in albums, all the songs are on their labels youtube channel, Unique Leader Records.
Dude, the SMN forums were crazy back then lol. I joined in ‘04 when I was 15. Mostly for the Decrepit forum, but found so many cool projects and talked to so many cool people on there. I went by InvoluntarySlaughter on there. As for the episode, Phil seems like such a cool dude. And is an absolute shredder. That new single is insane.
I was Stench of Death on there. Mostly lurked but the days when Majewski was a regular forum poster were nuts. Nuts like skeets bare ass moose knuckle on a fixed gear bicycle.
Actually, this is making me super depressed. Clearly I'm not a "real one"... Still can't deny the absolute joy I get from listening to Gloire Èternalle though. My God do I have my homework ahead of me retroactively listening to and learning about a fuck ton of music...
Phil is amazing on guitar, such a chill humble guy. I took some Skype guitar lessons with him, he’s very patient and taught me a lot. Awesome guitarist and person.
Tougas Family History French (Normandy): variant of Tougard, from the Norman personal name Tougard, derived from the Old Norse name Thórgarthr, composed of the name of the god Thórr (see Thor ) + garthr 'fence, defence'. The surname Tougas is very rare in France, where it was in the past found e.g. in Eure. He's a literal Viking, descended from the Norse god Thor...too awesome
The fact Phil isn't just canadian tech death (or power death) but he's French canadian tech death just makes him even more tech. Like you have to speak another language to get on this guy's level
phil /first fragment is so fucking smart. Guy is a wizard. His music should be called DeathWizardry Here's the Elegy demo he was referring to, they are from the Netherlands th-cam.com/video/zXa2DROwcXE/w-d-xo.html
Everything Phil touches turns to gold. New VoidCeremony is gunna be guud!
Legit biggest hero of mine, absolute legend

At 42:30 Phil makes a very good observation of the scene nowadays. There is a growing divide, interesting to see what comes of it.
Shout out to that Allan Holdsworth boxed set, I have the vinyl one!
Chthe'ilist is amazing, hope to hear more soon
Great episode. Even more excited now to hear the new Firt Fragment album. Would be so killer to see them live one day in the US. Cheers lml-_-lml
