  • Coyotes in the United States pose several challenges, impacting both urban and rural areas. These adaptable predators often cause issues by preying on livestock, pets, and sometimes even becoming a nuisance in suburban neighborhoods by scavenging through trash or causing disturbances. Their increasing presence near human habitats raises concerns about potential conflicts and safety issues, especially regarding the safety of domestic animals.

I understand that all too well. I live in an apartment complex located in a small, unincorporated, rural town in Southern NV. I've heard them howling late at night Especially, late at night when I let my Labradoodle out to use the bathroom. I leash him up. There's a wall on one side of the apartment complex that I live in. (On the other side of that wall is open, vacant land). Man is encroaching on the coyotes habitat.
I've footage on my local news of coyotes roaming around at night in packs on the roads of a suburb way north of me. So, it's getting a little too close for comfort with the coyotes in some parts by me.

FACTS: Most recent poll of coyotes killing cattle, showed that coyotes were responsible for killing about 0.02 percent of all adult inventoried cows on cattle ranches. They are more likely to try and kill chickens, however, if farmers are smart, they do not leave their chickens out to roam freely at night since that’s when coyotes hunt. If the chickens are inside of a coop with a high fence, the coyotes can’t get to them. Smaller animals such as lambs could also be at risk, but again, if they’re put up at night, they should be perfectly safe. A lot of this is the FARMER’S responsibility to keep their animals safe. As for foxes, they’re not much bigger than a house cat, so do you really think these foxes are attacking cattle? Foxes are VERY shy. They will go after chickens, but again, if the chickens are put away, they will be safe. This video is demonizing animals that should not be. Again, it just shows that you enjoy killing animals. There ARE ways to live peacefully with wildlife without losing your own property. You just have to understand the species that you’re dealing with and take intelligent and often SIMPLE steps in protecting your property. Then everyone can live happily ever after and no one has to die. 👍🏻🦊❤️ (I’m sure my comment will be deleted)
