My second favorite thing to do with labneh in oil in jars is to use the oil to make vinaigrette/salad dressing. My favorite thing is obviously to eat the labneh.
So cool to see you in my home state! It's been too long since I've been to Dearborn and it's way past time for me to go. My sister who is in Romulus will bring me things I ask for. Looks like I'm missing some great new stops. I remember Greenland Market but they were a small grocer 25+ years ago. Meijer, which is a midwest grocery, carries some Ziyad products but not nearly enough. Can't wait to see the trip into Hamtramik. Been more than 30 years since my sister and I happened into a Polish restaurant there complete with a Polish grandma running the kitchen. lol We tried to make ourselves sick with all that good food! I so miss the ethnic food scenes living in the north now.
Blanche, you have made me crave for that Kunafa sandwich. Have not had one since a Lebanese friend from Montreal had made the most delicious Kunafa. She also made the Eshteh, the most delicious. Now it is time to move to Dearborn, Michigan.
Oh my God!!! Blanche ! Now that you showed all these yummy sweets you HAVE to give us the recipes especially this sweet you had after the kunefe in sesame bread I can't remember the name of it !...eshta? Pleaaaaaaase it looks so yummy ! I wish I had a place like this in where I live!
The sweet I had after the kunafa was mind blowing. I have never made it before, but I need to experiment and try to make it taste the same--and yes it is semolina with eshta. I hope you get to visit this place some day! ;)
Hey if you guys pass through Chicago stop off in Bridgeview which is right next to Chicago and go to Prince Sweets or AlBasha they're just a few blocks apart they make some good Kanaffa. Prince makes some great Baklawa and Borma among other stuff.
