I have a set of lights with the same problem and I was just going to open the controller, remove the processor and tie the logic lines of the 2 or 3 drivers to 'always on' but your solution is a lot less invasive. I'll give your solution a try. Thanks for the interesting videos.
Brilliant! A string of lights I just bought do not work at all on "continually on mode" (also on sale and probably a returned item) I have no idea why they don't sell continuously on for many of the new LED lights... Blinking lights are cruel LoL

Is there a solution (controller) that would deliver an always on signal to the string? I have a separate power supply and controller in-line with the same problem as described. Unfortunately there is no place to put an Elton as demoed here. The transformer delivers 6v so I’m just looking for an always on for the string that can accept a 6v supply

Because i couldn't agree moren that the blinking is the most anoying feature ever applied on christmaslights. Can i send you the picture?
11 months later, here is my reply: If there is no switch at all, I'd say converting those lights to be constantly on might not be easy. It might be easier to replace the whole power supply/controller with constant on -type. I'm replying to missed comments. Thanks! That's right, soldering 24C02 without programming was all it took to make these lights usable. The EEPROM was salvaged from another circuit and had some data in it, but it didn't matter. These lights write the eeprom when mode is changed and retrieve that same data next time power is turned on.
The unit works by reversing the polarity of the output connected to the led string. If you connect the led string to 30V DC, only half the leds will illuminate.

Glad to hear there was such an easy solution! I've seen lights with that function as well, but they didn't have any mention of it in the box/manual, which is weird. It's always worth testing that kind of tricks, whether they were advertised or not.

I too hate the fact that it defaults so the combination. Mine are on a photo sensor switch. Some areas I want solid, others I want some sort of effect (like twinkling white lights on a bush) but I can't do anything but *all* because of that d**** controller resetting every time.

I believe I used vise and slightly squeezed the seam of case and lid. That cracked the glue and I was then able to use flat-head screwdriver to pop the lid off. I'm replying to missed comments. This might not come in time for you, but maybe for viewers who have the same question.
Not clear at all! I am not an electrician and would prefer the video of what he was actually doing. Not helpful for me, actually quite annoying because it seems very easy but i still have no clue what to do
I'm not an electronics person either, but he clearly showed the empty area on the circuit board, then soldered an 8 pin chip onto it (the id of which he mentions but I'd need to listen again to get it) which he also showed. It's not a dead simple fix, but that's not his fault.

Love your video...I have the same plugin without the selection button. Any idea how to override multiple blinking to get constant on stage?

Can you just cut the controller off and re-attach the plug unit to the lighted cord?
Then they probably won’t work at all, you can but you have to connect transistor to GND or VCC(depends on type of transistor) through a resistor

I'd probably have just shorted the output transistor to get steady light ...... But the EPROM fix looks great for keeping other favorites too :-)
It works by changing polarity, shorting the transistor will light up only every 2nd led.

Did you try holding down the select button on the setting you wish to program for 6 seconds?
You had me excited for a little while there. But unfortunately, that doesn't work on either of mine.

You need a generic 24 series eeprom 8 pin ic chip for this to work
