First of all great Desk build! Loved the previous one and this one is just as fantastic! Question? How do we use the Discount codes in Europe? The link you have is for the store in the states, which does not ship to Europe, and in European stores the discount codes don't work 🥲
Dang, that's an awesome build. Really looking forward to future desk builds, they are always so inspiring. As for the welding filter in the video: I always liked the way you showed welding, but if some people get happier with this filtered way, so be it.
after drooling over your previous table for 2 years, I now have a new table to aspire for. I wish I could have kept it but for my tiny apartment, my projects would be strewn all across the place much to my girlfriend's chagrin, but your build actually inspired me to build an electronics workbench/mini pc/3d printer enclosure out of an ikea wardrobe that could tuck away my current project mess with a close of a door. thank you for the updated table! it looks amazing!
Perfect hobby desk right there. Just use the pegs to slap on some easily accessible outlets and USB ports for powering/charging tools and additional lights then you're golden.
Amazing work! Metalwork, woodwork, 3D printing and desk setups are 4 of my favourite things to watch on TH-cam and you’ve managed to combine all 4 into one entertaining and well-put video. Also you awesome welding skills!
My friend, from being a now retired 20 plus year mechanic and someone who has never stopped working with tools, you do some clean work. Great build and I am in the process of designing my own. Great job!
As a fellow welder. I'd say that the filter is definitely a nice addition. The desk looks stunning and minimalistic, with plenty of space to implement your own personality into it if you want to. (I am a gamer as well. So I do see lots of potential.) Loved your last desk. And this is honestly a really nice upgrade for it. Even though this one is for the workshop. Amazing job! Much love from the Netherlands
Thanks! Yeah I think you could do a lot of interesting stuff with that back wall besides storage. I think it would be cool to cover it completely in plants (like those moss walls you sometimes see in fancy offices), maybe something for another project
I have to TIG weld a lot of stainless 1.2mm box section like this and oh my god it's such a pain. We don't have a fixture table but the boss still wants perfection. Grinding corners and realising you've gone too far and it's as thick as tin foil so instead of chasing the hole while welding just cut the corner off and replace it xD
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I'm honestly just blown away by your attention to detail and craftsmanship. Even something as small as taking the legs off before moving the table top and putting them back on after shows how much you care about the quality of your final product. I also really liked that you repurposed the box to make the bottom of the drawer! I started watching desk build videos because I'm trying to figure out my desk - I have a massive corner desk with lots of tech toys on it but my back would prefer it to be sit/stand now that I use it more. I wish I could find a sit/stand converter that met my needs a little more exactly. Custom might be the answer! You're very inspiring =]
i think i follow you since probably 6 years or so. I have to say still super impressed on how much your skills have improved and consequently the overall quality of your projects. Very happy you still find the time and will to: film, edit and share with us some of the stuff you do. Very inspiring. LG aus Berlin
Sorry folks I have to say it in German: Wie geil ist dieser Tisch bitte?! Wahnsinn! You're living err building the dream and just got a new subscription!
I love the tiny-PC form factor, especially for a shop environment. As long as it does what you need it to do and doesn't take up a whole lot of space; perfect.
for flat finish I have started using 3M cubitron 3 fiberdisc's (came out this october). They are little pricey but the longevity and speed makes it all up.
FYI to those who may be thinking of building and/or watching the belt grinder series-by far, it's the best series I've seen. Maybe it's why I watched it 3 times. 🤔 Re: this standing desk build-great content Phil and a 👍 as always. God bless.
Well... I didn't come here expecting to buy a 3-d printer but now I can't live without one. Are you kidding me? Those prints are CLEAN! Excellent video, subbed.
The only video I have ever seen from your channel was the last desk video. I'm so glad TH-cam sugested this one to me. And I'll definitely be here for the next one!
I've been online shopping for ideas for a custom desk, and the drawer's organization left me speechless. The desk is on point and the use of the peg board is smart and thoughtful. It's a pity I can't solder, I would have loved to make something similar with slight modifications to suit my needs. But overall great desk
Bunch of amazing ideas even for us normal gamers that just want a clean and easy desk for our setup. I was blown away by the coiled extension cable... I can't believe I never even thought about that being a thing, I'm getting one right now! Amazing video, amazing setup!
Wow, that is a clean looking work statuon. So many good innovations here. The custom printed angled tube plugs are such a simple concept but they really make the finihed product stand out.
Wow Phil that desk is really sweet. Normally one doesn't get to wound up about desks but this is super clean convenient and very very well planned and executed! Your fab and creation skills blossoming unbelievably! Keep up the good work because well it's fun to watch!
re: welding light in the video, I recently got an HDR monitor for the first time, and one of the requirements of HDR is that the screen needs to be capable of putting out a lot of light to reach the bright end of the dynamic range. Welding flashes didn't used to be a problem for me, but now they are actually very intense. I would still say the main problem is how sudden they are; people will certainly disagree. I appreciate the filter!
Yes I also think it depends on what situation you watch in. In bed at night with a bright screen I can see the flashes being annoying, but in a well-lit room less so
Awesome project, and I was so happy to see someone else in the world that realizes how the large size cutting mat makes an excellent "mousepad" while also being able to work with cutting tools for small projects. I've been using one for years and it's so functional.
Hi Phil, that ply is essentially a fancy formply which gets used for concrete formwork. The phenolic sheet is to prevent concrete from sticking, you can buy it very cheap as formply, bearing in mind the sheets are almost always bowed as it is normally supported by a timber frame. The birch sheets used for furniture are much nicer but also much more expensive.
I don't think it's the same stuff you're talking about, these are straight and the ply is very high quality. A lot of people here use this for functional furniture because the material is so durable, it's also quite expensive
Do not put yourself down. You are a superb engineer and have got some really great ideas. I run a full business in two countries using mini PC's. They are fantastic and portable if you need to pack up and go. I wish you were near me in Vietnam as I would contract you to make a desk setup for me. Keep up the great work. Regards, John
Very impressive Phil, so many great design features and really well executed. I can't even begin to imagine how many hours work have gone into this, very impressive. Cheers, Jon🏴
This is fantasic! The light on the first one didn't bother me (I expected it), but the filter is really good nice. Much easier to actually see what you are doing. Thank you!
Well this is a really well done video and presentation of drawings and options for fabrication. Once you pulled out the welding table i knew i could not do this but the quality of video made me stick around to watch. And the welding table, it looks like it would be at NASA space station some of the tools you use i have never seen.
Thanks, you don't need the welding table to do this at all though, as I mentioned in the video it's complete overkill for this kind of project. A normal bench and some welding magnets would be enough to weld up a simple construction like this
This looks amazing.I saw your older desk build last year and mentioned how it looks similar to the cosair platform 6 desk. This one looks even better.Im slowly getting into woodwork and it feels like working with metals is even further out my reach. My only hopes to getting a desk like this is via Cosair, but a guy can dream. Great video and explanation!
It might not be as far out of reach as you think, maybe watch some beginner/introduction videos about welding on YT. It's easier and cheaper to get into than many people assume! That being said you could theoretically build the frame out of aluminum T-slot extrusion which doesn't require welding
Great build video! I especially appreciate the welding wisdom. You are an absolute pro, and Im sure you'll be doing some epic builds and designs on your new desk.
Two additional improvements I’d recommend: 1. Get a set of heavy-duty caster wheels to mount the desk on, so you can move the desk around the room, have easy access to those windows, etc. 2. Get a small UPS to mount to the desk to power and protect the more sensitive gear like the computer and any test equipment. As an added bonus, with both 1 & 2 implemented, it’s *really* easy to unplug the UPS from the wall, wheel the desk to a different part of the room, then plug it back in without having to power down-then-back-up anything.
First time here and I can say I'd definitely be interested in the back shelf as a product. I already have a fairly wide standing desk from autonomous and something like this would be very useful for decluttering
When i saw ur ig story I said it's time to watch some creative stff .😊 Ur video/idea and projects r all fun to watch and get inspired!!! Andbthis one Very elegant and creative amigo 👌🏼, love ❤️ it !
Thank you for dimming the footage for those welding shots. It feels dumb to say that a *picture* of someone welding is painfully bright, but, well, it does still bother my eyes when the footage is just raw. Part of it might be a matter of contrasts over time- if my screen is all pure white, it's fine, but if it starts flashing white in a small area, that's where it becomes a problem. Your current solution works just fine, but if what I just said lets you realize something even better, then I'm happy to have helped.
This is my first time watching one of your videos, and I'm blown away that people complained about the light 😂 🤦🏻♂️ anyways I'm impressed with your craftsmanship sir, amazing job and i have subscribed, you're a brilliant creator.
for your design to hold pliers, have an opening in the bottom so the handles aren't just wedged at the top, but are allowed to fit through, then wedge- if that makes sense

The idea with the coiled cable for powering the desk is really clever
I literally yelled "I need this!" when I saw it. Time to go shopping.
Did I miss that? I even rewatched half the video. What idea?? :'D

Same. Although the entire desk is sweet. I thought the coil was a nice touch. And way better looking then the "vertebrae" that most people use.
I didn't clicked the play button but i already know that this is gonna be my dream desk from now on. Amazing work, Phil. Cheers from Brazil.
I have zero need for this, but am still in complete awe of your design and thought and implementation.,, a great watch, thx
You're one hell of an engineer man. Great desk!
Inspiring build. The idea to use a spiral extension cord and a magnet to make a pretty power cord solution was very clever! Thank you for the video.
Thats what I call a nice sunday morning!
Dang, that's an awesome build. Really looking forward to future desk builds, they are always so inspiring.

I always solder at 420 degrees.
Nice work, always enjoy your videos. Thanks!
tried soldering at 69420 degrees before?
No tool is overkill if it does the job perfectly! You have it, you use it. Nicely done.
Yeah 1.2mm sounds tough, this is 2mm so a bit more margin for error
Woa, amazing desk for a technician or assembler. So clean and useful.
Thank you for adding the welding filter.
Very nice weld design.
5:35 - the magnetic lock for the fume hose is an excellent idea! I know it wasn't a main part of the video but it's an idea I'll be borrowing...

You must be very happy, because i am LOL 😅
Mother of all desks !
Das Spiralkabel ist einfach die Kirsche auf der Torte. Sehr geil - alles.
A nice, simple weekend project. Looks like something I could do in my small condo

You can actually make a similar frame from aluminum T-slot extrusion without any welding. All you'd need is a hacksaw and some patience ;)

@PhilVandelay can't wait to watch it, thanks bud 👍🏻
