    I was somewhat disappointed. Something seems a bit "off" about this home. One would expect it to be more elegant and impressive inside. It isn't so much the building but perhaps the decor? It comes across as "dingy" instead of opulent. The modern art pieces and some of the furnishings are sorely out of place in this classic home. Second Empire interiors are usually highly decorated with colorful wall coverings and details. This one is just white. Weird!

      You are right. This interior is not opulent enough, on comparison to the exterior architecture. Also, this clumsy mix of modern elements and antiques is really off-putting.

      I agree! I love the house, it's beautiful... but was very disappointed in the sterile decor! A more historical touch with natural woods is what I look for in a home built in the late 1800's.
