    Thanks for posting this. Also a BMMCC user. That battery solution is exactly what I've been looking for. Thanks for this tip. I was seriously considering shelling out for a vmount, but this might be the way to go.

      David Simpson seriously!! V mount plate and battery is around $300 but for 15% of the price you can power the rig for 3 times longer!

      the Animist films awesome! Thank you. I still have to get a speedbooster Ef adapter. I can’t afford a new metabones. Is there a specific metabones one for this camera or can I use any of their ef to m43? I’ve found some affordable used metabones ones but I’m not sure they work with the BMMCC. Is there a decent cheaper brand adapter I can get?

    Thank you so much for taking the time to read and reply to my questions! I look forward to the next video on BMMCC - it would be great if you could talk about choice of lenses too, as I am completely lost on what to buy, and I am trying to avoid splashing out on a speedbones metabooster, yet could do with wide lens capability.

    Also, as you know the Sandisk Extreme Pro 128gb SD card, either doesn't read in the camera, or drops frames! Please talk about this and your workaround.
    Thanks!

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      avalanwa my 128 works fine except for 60fps Raw 3:1 , it will start dropping frames about 30 seconds into a clip but it’s really not a lot. I use that card and that setting sparingly but when I do I use my frame recovery software to patch it. Check my channel for the video about that process!

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      avalanwa also I believe the V60 cards have never read in my camera. Ive has to search for V30 only but the 128gb I was talking about above was a micro SD V30

      @avalanwa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAnimistOfficial oh ok cool. Yea I use the v30 as well but, the newer ones are a hit or miss.
      The good thing is if your card doesn't work for you, you can call up Sandisk and they'll replace it for you for free. And if you're lucky, upgrade you.

    Awesome video man. Great setup too. I'm starting to look at the micro cinema camera now. Which would you pick between the bmcc 2.5k and this one for what you do?

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RiNus World that’s a tough one! I think the BMCC2.5K has better image quality and a little easier to handle in exposing for darker scenes but as for all around usability I’d go with the micro because it’s easier to rig for power and monitors. Even the LPE6 on their own is better off then the Bmcc internal battery. Plus in the Music Video world I don’t think I could live without a 60p option, which the Micro has. Thanks for watching and let me know what you end up getting!

    • @rinusworldzm
      @rinusworldzm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAnimistOfficial I'm considering getting both in the long run. Especially for That 60p option on the micro. I'm thinkingnIll pair it with the bmpcc. If I'm getting 2 I'd much rather the micro with the bmpcc. It's amazing How the bmcc has such great features but alot of filmmakers I've been watching are drifting to the bmpcc for its size and portability.

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      RiNus World the old bmpcc, micro and bmcc 2.5k have their own sensors that give them a magic touch. The new bmpcc all have the same sensors as zcams and gh5s’s so you lose some of that BMD magic but they’re all great tools and none is a bad option

    • @rinusworldzm
      @rinusworldzm 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheAnimistOfficial I agree. The new ones have "flaws" worked out so the uniqueness is gone. I'm drawn to the older ones. And they scale well to 4k too.

    • @TheAnimistOfficial

    • @sammymorales6838
      @sammymorales6838 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheAnimistOfficial I just want a new version of this camera, the biggest downfall of the pocket 4k/6K is that it needs to be built up but is not modular because of its shape and the damn screen in the back and battery placement so is a pain....I would rather have a Box shape like this one that is modular so I can build up how I want

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sammy DeGuido i hear you, everything is modular depending how you look at it but yeah there’s just a touch of magic in the micro. Honestly thinking about the Zcam E2 to keep my rig but get something more usable for ISO 1600. But BMD might surprise us with something to compete.

    Also - whats the difference between using your setup battery style, and a V-mount? So many people are talking about using Vmount plates and batteries - what is the actual difference (apart from price)?

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      as far as I am aware its just an industry standard to use v-mount or gold mount but i have never been one to justify purchases for expensive equipment if there isnt a value add between the two. Also V mount batterys usually have D-Tap and other industry connections but A plate alone is $100, Charger is ~$60 and 1 Battery is $300. all of that for one battery just doesnt make since to me unless I owned a UMP

    @animist I found this to be a great video, especially for a beginner - thank you so much for aiding my rigging process. I am buying my first 'cinema' camera and this obviously the BMMCC, in the meantime I am buying accessories, but I am really in the deep end as I don't understand a lot of the solutions proposed online. I would be grateful if you could clarify some of this:
    1. Battery solution - Using the TalentCell - does this require a dummy battery (what is the purpose of this), and if not, are you using one in the video above. Is it safe to connect the TalentCell battery to the camera directly - Does it emit higher than 12V?
    2. Which wires are used to connect the TalentCell battery to the camera?
    3. Does the TalentCell display when it is running out?
    4. What is the purpose of the breakout box in this connection process?
    5. How much battery life does the LH5T monitor, give running on its own battery? As I have read it may be unsafe to power two devices (camera + monitor) from one power source?
    Many thanks in advance

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Syed Khoja hey Syed, glad it was helpful. I’ll be touching on some of those points in a new video but the talent cell doesn’t emit higher than 12V, and it doesn’t use a dummy battery. It plugs into the breakout box. The expansion port on the BMMCC is a connection that can be fitted for a dozen different functions. The breakout box goes into that port and coverts it to a 12V Dc in connection and a remote trigger input (which is called Lanc) the LHT5 has lasted me around 2 hours on the smaller NPF battery but like I said I usually switch between powering the monitor and cam with the talent cell so I can hot swap batteries on both units

  •  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice video! I'm in love with my BMPCC (1st Gen) but the critical moiré in some situations makes me crazy. Since both cameras have the same sensor, does the problem persists?
    Thinking about getting a micro as well for the slow motion when needed.

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heráclito Rollemberg generally you won’t get moire straight out of camera, but it can be easy in some situations when you add anything more than modest sharpening in the grade. Some people agree the micro is generally a touch softer of a sensor.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nice! Thank's for the tip. Maybe they tried to fix the problem with the new camera.
      Really liked your channel. Keep with the good content!

    • @TheAnimistOfficial
      @TheAnimistOfficial  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ Thanks for the kind words! I'm not sure if its something they attempted to fix but if you film a detail dense building or something at f22 the most basic of grade would bring out moire but after uploading, the compression usually takes care of it. If your not over sharpening it could be your monitor making you think its aliasing/moire cause I ran into the same problems fixating on it with my 6D.
