The fact that people can’t grasp that they’re NOT SEPARATE PEOPLE is wild. This movie explains how little regard you have for yourself when you’re offered something better. It’s like an extreme version of saying “that’s a future me problem” and then in the future hating your past self. You’re not two different people but you speak as if you are. Both Sue and Elizabeth accuse “each other” of not respecting the balance and phone guy tells them “So respect it.” Because it’s not you and her, it’s you and you. You have to respect YOU.
I agree I also feel like it's very reminiscent of the moms that are jealous of their daughters. Like they created a younger better version on themselves that they can't fully control and it's 'aging' them. Not in the literal sense but I think there's a message there too. Overall very layered especially with the repeated shows of all the OLD OLD men who are still rich and popular and famous surrounding themselves with young woman. There's a lot here.
@ yeah because there are two sides or multiple sides to every person. Also you’re not the same person you were when you were young are you? It can show two different aspects of a person who is the same person.
The red dress Elisabeth scene is so relatable it’s scary. Messing up the hair/makeup, hitting your head/face? Yall seen the video of the sisters in the bathroom and the younger one keeps getting her brush caught in tangles and starts hitting her head with the brush? Almost every girl I know has had that moment, more than once in her life. It was viscerally relatable
yeah, I found this scene to be the most disturbing part of the whole movie purely because of how relatable it is. It took me back to so many nights of my life that I ve felt inadequate just by looking at myself in the mirror.
I have OCD and my compulsions heavily affect my routine of getting ready for the day. That scene hurts me in a visceral way because I used to make myself seriously late for school by doing what was effectively self harm in front of a mirror, never deeming myself good enough to leave the house. It got really bad in my teenage years and I didn't even wear make up. To this day I avoid make up because I know I'd just create new hurtful routines for myself. I still have nightmares about being late to stuff :(
The ending when she's getting ready for the new years show makes me tear up. Because when Elizabeth looks in the mirror to get ready, it's with pure hate and self-loathing. With Sue, it's pure vanity. But at the end, it's so much softer. It feels like she's putting on the makeup and jewelry for herself instead of anyone else.
fr. like she was a weird fusion monster of both Elisabeth and Sue and yet that was the moment she finally felt beautiful. she saw all the ugly parts of her on full display and accepted herself for the first time
I think they DO remember, but it’s like when you’re drunk and do things you regret or wouldn’t otherwise. It feels like it’s another person, but it’s you.
Same as when you're procrastinating doing tasks and think "I'll leave it for tomorrow's me" and tomorrow's me thinks you're a moron and doesn't do the task
I feel like if she didn't remember what Sue was doing, Elisabeth wouldn't fall in complete dispair when going back to herself or wouldn't refuse to stop the experiment.
@@fabiolopes2271 Elizabeth was getting worse and worse she isnt a reliable narrator like the dude says they are one and the egg in the beginning spilts the yolk not the whites meaning its 2 bodies one mind she said herself at the end “you are the best part of me” and “i hate myself” so of course sue said bad things about Elizabeth she hates herself so her younger version also hates her
There was a singer decades ago who took it. He sang Paradise by the Dashboard Light and I would do Anything for Love (but I won't do that). I guess we know why he died now.
No, you don't? Wtf. That can't be the reason because it's not true? My lips LITERALLY DO NOT move at all to say SUE. if you need your lips to say the word SUE, then you're a toddler
@@marthastewwart .....dude......even a drunk braincell can feel your lips pucker ever so slightly when saying "Sue". To make the "Ooh" sound, your lips pucker out and form an "O" shape. Maybe you have some oh-so special lips that don't require that, but it's the common way to say a name like Sue. Why such an aggressive reaction? Not really something to get all defensive about, good lord.
Scene of Fred texting Elizabeth hurts. And it hit that nobody actually knows or cares about Elizabeth. No family members, friends, probably all left her or Elizabeth shut them out during her career 😢
People like Elizabeth in the movie push people away for their fame. People dont become alone for no reason. She has no one cause she put her fame before anyone and everyone.
I mean also too it show me that the media did her dirty when she was with Ashton… that said her knees looked old… like WTF so I’m glad this movie exists because we can’t drain ourselves to be younger…. All the surgeries show us too that it’s not worth it😂
The director of this film loves Cronenberg, Lynch, and has a direct affinity for saying "I know writers who use subtext, and they're all cowards." I can't say the film is my absolute favorite among horror films but it is one of most fun to discuss.
Ok I havent read this somewhere but I think the dress Sue wears for the New Year's show is inspired by Cinderella's dress which goes super well thematically too as Cinderella is a princess many girls want to be but she also has to beat the clock before she changes back into her normal -aka ugly- self.
I thought that also. I also picked up on the main colours of both Elisabeth and Sue’s wardrobe having subtle hints to the matrix and other self. Elisabeth mainly wears primary colours, she accessorised with purples sometimes but her main outfit choices were yellow, red and blue (usually navy blue). She’s the primary self. Sue wears primary colours as accessories sometimes but for the most part she wears secondary colours like purple, pink, green and baby blue. She’s secondary, only able to be made using the matrix. The Cinderella dress is one of the only times she’s wearing pure blue and it’s when Sue is experiencing the same desire to “fix” herself that Elisabeth had.
The "control yourself" read in addition to Demi waking up and screeching following Sue's abuse of the substance (the one right before the cooking scenes), and then Sue's growls as she goes after Elisabeth....idk, man, something about how they do them just screams, "You will never recreate the perfection of that line read."
6:10 they somewhat remember, they understand their actions but that doesnt stop them from being angry. for instance sue steals life from elizabeth and elizabeth gets mad, not because theyre different people but because when she was sue she was being selfish.
@@MarkunatorIt was the theme song for 2001 A Space Odyssey. Not even kidding. The last 30 minutes of the film ramp up the dark comedy aspects with absurdity like the music choice, growing another boob in front of the audience etc.

the fact that universal studios helped finance Coralie Fargeat's The Substance (2024) but deemed it as unworthy of releasing after a screening just goes to show what is wrong with the movie industry today. thanks, mubi for giving filmmakers a chance.

6:03 Not true, they *do* remember what the other one did. That's what the swapping does: it moves her consciousness from one body to the other. That's how Elizabeth recognizes Sue's motorcycle boyfriend. But eventually she starts to see the 'other' her as a different person, and distances herself from thinking they're the same.
Exactly. It was confirmed in the screen play that it’s shared consciousness. They talk about each other like they’re someone else the same way people talk about themselves negatively e.g. looking in the mirror and saying “YOU’RE so fat and ugly!” Instead of saying “I’m”.
It's like, a duplicate consciousness. They are the same person, it's the consciousness swapping but she did a bunch of stuff she should not have done with the switch and termination, so that happened. It would be like cloning the consciousness. But mentally she's never been able to hold onto the reality that they are the same so she can't see them as one. I think when they both awake it's supposed to be the climax of the self hate she has. This split of her identity and conflict of self. Who's the true self. She said smth about Sue being all the good parts of herself but when she's sue she hates Elizabeth when she's Elisabeth she hats sue. She hates herself. Because they are one she can't comprehend these 2 different lives are both her. All these actions she gets mad at were things she did but she's speerated it in her mind. (idk if I explain good lol)
ok but why would the movie also makes it seem like they don't remember what the other did when they're blacked out? Why would Sue be surprised and angry when seeing that Elizabeth just spends her nights in front of the TV and messed up the house with food? doesn't make sense.
@@MariaMacedowit's to show how they don't give a shit about their 'other' self. They swap and immediately ignore any consequences they might cook up for the other one. They resent each other, even though they're the same person, and we see the mess they leave for each other every time. This is the whole "self-loathing" thing - 'I hate who I used to be,' but in both directions. :) It's like someone being high and not giving a shit about their sober self, and their sober selves hating the damage their high self is doing to their body.
The part when Elizabeth is not able to go out cause of how awful she feels about herself and how she looks is so real. Very upsetting, and absolutely something that every woman has experienced before
I went into this movie blind. My mom liked the trailer and asked me to come along. And ho lee fuq brother, what a ride. My mom spent half the movie behind her hands, cuz the trailer sells it more like a regular suspense/horror type, not BODY horror. Neither of us were the target demographic. And while I wouldn't say I liked the movie, I am glad I at least experienced it.
I absolutely love body horror because of how much I can feel it. It's a bit different from gore heavy movies because it's more about our relationship with our bodies than what happens to it. It's the only time I want to be grossed out for the integrity of the story, honestly. I love Videodrome for that reason. I think the directing can make something disgusting more personal. To me, bodies are naturally "gross" so these values are placed on things most can't control. I personally think aging is more attractive because it shows you survived life. It's laugh lines, and getting stuffed during dinner, and the little bumps you made it through. A totally smooth person is boring. It's just a child. Thank you so much for doing this movie! It's so great to hear your personal thoughts on crazy shit like this. It asks a lot of good questions about image, and being way too critical of stupid things that only matter to a certain type of people who are way more fucking fowl than anyone else. Again, you would be a delight to watch shitty movies with. Critical, sarcastic eye is the best. Compliments to the chef! Stay handsome.
Same! The chicken thigh scene is so cathardic to me because it looks exactly what my knee feels like (it is permanently dislocated) and I can relate completely to that scene in some way. Body horror is definitely the best kind of horror imo
I could totally see that. I've had a lot of clients that I worked with in caregiving who just had lumps and bumps in random places because of trauma. Tough to ignore.
"I personally think ageing is more attractive because it shows you survived life." honestly, this is how I see things now. I remember my dad used to tell me to not dye my hair because I'll start to go grey earlier. Of course, old wives' tale, but I still dyed my hair, and I've started going grey when I hit maybe 27 or 28. It's only like one stripe, but I watched a lot of older trans people on TikTok, and one of them said, "grey means you're here". And that killed me, because yeah. Through all my trials and tribulations. I'm still alive. And I'm so happy I can get grey and grow wrinkles. Because there's people like me who don't get that opportunity.
If you’re a fan of body horror with a comical twist like this, How to Get Ahead in Advertising is one of my favorites for that. I’d wanna see GG cover that, too
I spoke to some friends after watching the movie, that each of us had taken a moment to stop and think that we judge ourselves too harshly. This movie really made us reflect in ways we didn't think we would, honestly a favourite of the year
The "burn" on his hand is actually a birthmark. The old version of himself has it, and they show that Sue has the same birthmark as Elizabeth. Sue was picked because you have to pucker your lips.
That birthmark being also on the younger version of the guy makes no sense though. If all your "defects" carried over to the 2.0 version what would be the use of the Substance?? It is supposed to procure a fresher and better in everyway version of you. Elizabeth's age and ailments do not transfer to Sue. The birthmark was just a lazy McGuffin bc they do not trust the viewer to make that connection on their own...
Love this movie! Side note... As someone who had a 12 hour Spinal surgery to remove a cancerous tumor... Idk how TF she is walking around after all that 🤣🤣🤣 Keep bringing the heat GG!
This movie does such a good job of making you switch between they are seperate people and then slapping you with no theyre not they are one. You start doing it with Elizabeth and Sue, you start seeing them as separate people and its so jarring when you are reminded. No, they are one. I love this movie
11:26 an IV that is left in place for a long time leaves a temporary scar on the skin, like the scar from a feeding needle that has been in place for 7 days.
They do remember, because sue knew to say to the phone 'its fuc*ing 503" to get the caller to tell her to switch to regenerate the stabilizer. That was from the memory of Elizabeth.
My theatre experience for The Substance was one of pure respect for the art and tension… and laughter when it mattered. Granted, it was an indie theatre and I’m grateful for that. A more mainstream audience would have made this terrible. Honestly one of the finest films I’ve seen on a big screen in a very long time.
The Substance was one of my favorites of the year for sure. Demi Moore destroyed that role. I really recommend this directors first film “Revenge” as well. It’s brutal but so good.
I saw _The Substance_ a few weeks ago. I'd heard it was body horror but even I was amazed at How Much body horror it was. I too wondered about there being No Payment, but I'm relatively sure there was a mention it was sort of like being a Human Trial for the procedure. By the time she had gone full Elephant Man, most of the audience was long-since laughing with the jet black comedy as I was. Did you notice in the ending credits the Special Thanks to all the background that got blood splattered...?
Went into the theater for this one with zero prep or spoilers - all i knew was body horror. Ending blew me away and the dark comedy aspect was flawless. Just a fantastic movie with a message that it sledgehammers into your head over and over. They used 35,000 gallons of fake blood for the finale I believe
...... I don't understand how anyone can think they have separate consciousness. They movie even repeats itself several times.... Elisabeth just dosen't have the presence of mind to handle being in a younger body again. They are one mind switching between two very different bodies and your body is the lens you experience the world and she couldn't handle it. Seems pretty obvious to me without needing it explained.
because the movie also makes it seem like they don't remember what the other did when they're blacked out. Why would Sue be surprised and angry when seeing that Elizabeth just spends her nights in front of the TV and messed up the house with food? doesn't make sense.
@@MariaMacedow yeah, its one thing if Elizabeth can't remember what happens in Sue's body because she can't handle being in a young body but why would she not remember what happened when she was in her origina body once she became Sue again? only explanation would be that transferring over causes her to lose her memories, which seems unlikely given other things that happened like Sue knowing about the food and schedule and everything, 503, the number to call, etc. they just did a very poor job showing that they share memories but Elizabeth doesn't want to acknowledge that they are the same person.
Yeah, "Sue" is just Elizabeth deep in a week longer bender under the influence of something she's addicted to, she's going to have different reactions, thoughts, and feelings when "sober".
I kept thinking Elizabeth was going to wake up in the hospital at the end of the movie & it was going to be revealed that it was a coma nightmare caused by her car accident at the beginning of the movie, but nope, the director went all in & I loved it!
My guy barely 30 and joking about being old gives the same energy as 12 year old me carrying around moms keys at a baseball game. JK, Gandalph the Crypt Keeper and the sea

so true about the recommendation thing lol. my mom was asking where to stream this because i liked it so much and i had to tell her “uh… you’re gonna hate it.” lmfao
I remember seeing the trailer after the festival run... Once I saw Coralie Fargeat's name, I was SOLD... as soon as a preview screening became available back in Sept (about 2 weeks before it opened), I jumped at the chance... I LOVED her first movie, "Revenge"... should check it out.
I watched the substance and could not tell you whether I liked it or not. It’s not bad! You really can’t say it’s bad, it’s artfully done and obviously you get the eating disorder/substance abuse metaphors, the escalation of it all, the amount of dialogue, the explicity of the awful disgustingness of self destruction, I get it and it’s very well done. But I can’t say I like it? Not in the way that I’d want to watch it again
I can say it's bad, at least in my opinion. Demi Moore's performance was the only enjoyable part of it. The sound design was exactly the same as every horror movie since Hereditary. It has absolutely nothing to say and no respect for its audience. It makes its point in the first fifteen minutes, and after that, it bashes that point repeatedly into your head, because it assumes everybody watching it has a ridiculously thick skull and needs to be told something a hundred times before they learn it. Yes, women (especially in the entertainment industry) are only valued for their looks and sex appeal, and once they "stop being attractive" to the mass market then they get discarded and treated as less than human. Most of us figured that out at the age of 15. It doesn't expand upon that point, it doesn't have anything unique to say, it just keeps reiterating itself over, and over, and over, and over, hoping to score brownie points because it is morally correct in the point that it is trying to make. The movie is a great big nothing. It isn't even good at making the point; half of the time we spend with Sue is just slow-mo shots of her body, nude or clothed. I understand that it isn't trying to be subtle, but you don't make a point about how bad something is by doing that exact same thing. I can't say "I'm against racism!! I'll show how anti-racist I am by saying the hard r over and over again, but it's okay, I'm the bad guy here!". The movie is not intelligent or innovative enough to be doing what it is trying to do. The Barbie movie had more poignant critiques of the patriarchy, and it was made for children. The actress who plays Sue is like trying to watch cardboard act in all of the scenes except for the one where actual horror stuff is going on, and the story makes absolutely zero sense. I'm not saying it's supposed to be realistic, I get it, it's supposed to be satirical, but come on; We have this actress whose biggest credit and achievement in life is that she hosts a morning dance show, and we're somehow supposed to believe that she has a star on Hollywood Boulevard? And now Sue is hosting the Los Angeles New Year's Eve show?? After what, two months of hosting another morning dance show?? I understand that you have to suspend your disbelief with movies sometimes, but the movie is so unrealistic that it breaks immersion and takes you out of it.
@@AlphaAceEX You can disagree with me, but your reply just proves that you don't actually care about discussion, you just had your feelings hurt and decided to be condescending instead. Keep coping.
I kept seeing this on a site I shall not name when I was looking for something to watch, and kept passing it by not thinking much of it. Then I watched the trailer one night because there was nothing else to watch, gave it a shot, and dear god. I was not expecting to see one of the wildest movies since Tusk.
I too had questions about that kick at 17:43. That was epic Seagal style i mean ok Elisabeth prob doesn't weigh so much but hell, right across the room??
thank you for promoting public libraries and the struggles they are facing! this was a great video and you highlighted such important facets of reading! love ur vids!!
How they get into a physical fight with each other, but not once even attempt to communicate with each other is beyond me. I did love how the entire films pace was kinda like "Requiem For A Dream" that whole intense, fast paced feeling. everything was going good til it gets closer to the ending. when you get to that point, you can feel the shift change from what the film was, to damn near pure comedy. I hate that because I feel like the ending could have been more intense and serious than where it went. I'm not even talking about the mutation she became, but the whole "Gwar concert" that the New Years Eve show turned into was not really needed was it?....IJS.
Something I noticed was that this film does not pass the Bechdel test. They must have been making a point about Elisabeth's loneliness with that. No friends, no female solidarity, not even once 😭 (Yes, one lady wishes her a happy birthday, but that lady doesn't get a name, so)
This movie is literally David Cronenberg style direction + Demi Moore reflecting on her 90s career × a theme about the abuse of performance/psychoactive drugs + a vibe like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde × the climax of Akira^Perfect Blue......
This movie hits a ton of notes that are on point for Hollywood/self image for women and how vein society’s culture is. When there’s good writing behind a movie like this, it really works. When bad writing happens with big companies (not gonna mention the mega corps name), they dump more money into backpedaling their ideas, reshoot for a year, or backpedal the PR side of things to keep their image clean for the majority. This movie needed none of that. It was made, it has a full plot line/resolution, and it all makes sense. I miss movies like that. Kudos for reviewing this.
I really like its depiction of substance abuse. I think she "Elisabeth" remembers what sue did but not fully just bits and pieces like every when someone is on any other substance. Its like seeing your drunk version on video. You remember bits and pieces but not all and you are whole different person and hate what you did when you were drunk. And like any other substance if you use it with moderation and control you could have its "bliss" forever. But if you start abusing it and overdosing then your "bliss" is longer but you are also eating away from your original self. No other substance abuse movies show this side of it. Its always overdose and you are dead. This movie is beautiful from theme to style to music. I love every part of it. Practical effects are just chefs kiss it looks so good and disgusting.
This is the craziest movie of the year, but in all the GOOD ways, and quite frankly, it's the best satire I've seen in a long time, and it struck very close to home for me. As a woman who had the great misfortune of growing extremely hairy after puberty (quite simply unacceptable in today's society), I have felt the pressure of social beauty standards, and it has destroyed my self-image. I've known the self-loathing, the self-hating, the internalized misogyny, deep depression, not wanting to put a foot outside, all of it. It's only after extremely painful hair removal procedures that I was able to be at a place where I could love myself and I'm quite a different person today, but really, I should never have lost so many long years of my life feeling repulsive and avoiding people, I should never have had to suffer as much as I did, mentally and physically, but this is was is expected of women. PS: About the mark on the male nurse: No, this isn't an adverse effect of the substance. Before Elizabeth goes through the process, they make a point of showing birth marks that she has too, and when Sue look at herself in the mirror they again make the point of showing she has the exact same ones. This is simply to show they are the same person... and for Elizabeth to later recognize the male nurse.
Honest to God my favorite modern horror film in a long time. Excellent writing, performances, and the special effects were nothing short of stellar. It's going to be hard to top this one, at least for me.
I was in the third act of this movie and i realised i was watching something truly brilliant. 80s insanity with current skitzo editing to the cronenberg nods. Cinema heaven. Or hell 😅 Movie slaps.
@ it can be a metaphor for many things. I agree, it’s also a metaphor about how society sees women as less valuable as they age compared to men. which is lame and unfortunate. Yeah, it can be multiple things.
@@bubble_gum_witch I am agreeing with your metaphor, but also saying it can more than just that one thing because you disagreed with my initial comment that it can be a metaphor about a mother and her child.
Yes when Sue mentioned having to go home to her sick mother, referring to Elizabeth. I can totally see it being interpreted that way. My mother wanted to become a nurse, but didn’t, if you ask her why she’ll say “because I became a mother instead” could she have still become a nurse with 2 under 3? Yes. But women are expected to give up their “life” once they have children because doing anything outside of taking care of your children is seen as selfish. And due to that, there are mothers that become jealous of their children, their youth, their achievements, their beauty. Feeling like their children robbed or even drained them of their youth. Kind of reminds me of that poem that goes “in another life I do not exist, but my mother gets to live”
I've been rewatching Courage the Cowardly Dog lately and then found your channel, seeing you wear a Courage shirt in another video and referencing him again here. Classic Cartoon. Dilly needs to bring him back, again.

Really good movie. I feel like there was more than a nod to Kubrick, especially with that long hallway with the 70s carpet that eventually gets drenched in blood being very reminiscent of The Shining. The general use of contrast and colour saturation also made me think of Kubrick.

I dont understand why demi Moores character would continue to become the other version of her self when she gets literally nothing out of it. No fame, no good times, no memory of what happened at all. What's even the point?
Because she lives out her dream life as Sue. It's like a drug addiction, you ride out the high until you sober up and get angry at your past self for fucking up your current self but you can't wait to get high again to stop feeling like shit. It's a nonstop cycle of self-destruction. It can be confusing to understand if whether or not they share a consciousness but they do. Because of Elisabeth's intense self-loathing, she sees Sue as a separate person, the perfect version of her. Switching to Sue is her high.

It makes me soo saaad
The red dress Elisabeth scene is so relatable it’s scary. Messing up the hair/makeup, hitting your head/face? Yall seen the video of the sisters in the bathroom and the younger one keeps getting her brush caught in tangles and starts hitting her head with the brush? Almost every girl I know has had that moment, more than once in her life. It was viscerally relatable
I felt that scene in my soul
I can't imagine how much more I would've done that as a kid if makeup and long hair care were part of my life :( such a sad, painful moment
being a broad must SUCK!
yeah, I found this scene to be the most disturbing part of the whole movie purely because of how relatable it is.
That part made me want to cry too
My girl was too grossed out to cry 😂

Same as when you're procrastinating doing tasks and think "I'll leave it for tomorrow's me" and tomorrow's me thinks you're a moron and doesn't do the task

i could not stop SCREAMING for Elizabeth’s character to realize how god mode her beauty still was from the BEGINNING
The director of this film loves Cronenberg, Lynch, and has a direct affinity for saying "I know writers who use subtext, and they're all cowards." I can't say the film is my absolute favorite among horror films but it is one of most fun to discuss.
"I have never exploded. But I know what it would be like. Don't ask me how. I just know. I've always just known."
god, that darkplace line really does sum up what i love about this movie lmao
@@seranathenecromancer3470 this is such a cool observasion! Honestly I loved everything about this movie!

@Daniel-om4ce I thought of that after I posted the comment but couldn't have been bothered to edit it at the time lol.
The "control yourself" read in addition to Demi waking up and screeching following Sue's abuse of the substance (the one right before the cooking scenes), and then Sue's growls as she goes after Elisabeth....idk, man, something about how they do them just screams, "You will never recreate the perfection of that line read."
6:10 they somewhat remember, they understand their actions but that doesnt stop them from being angry. for instance sue steals life from elizabeth and elizabeth gets mad, not because theyre different people but because when she was sue she was being selfish.
i’ve seen it compared to substance abuse, like “drunk me vs tomorrow me”, you know its a bad thing but you convince yourself just a little can’t hurt.
if theyre not different people, then its not selfish and not ´´stealing life´´. It is short-sighted.

They talk about each other like they’re someone else the same way people talk about themselves negatively e.g. looking in the mirror and saying “YOU’RE so fat and ugly!” Instead of saying “I’m”.
they are both awake towards the end though.
It's like someone being high and not giving a shit about their sober self, and their sober selves hating the damage their high self is doing to their body.

Not in the way that I’d want to watch it again
that's what's horrifying and sad about the substance that it sticks with u long after watching it
Well thats what real horror looks like, you just cant bear witnessing it again due to the implications given to your mind.

No friends, no female solidarity, not even once 😭
(Yes, one lady wishes her a happy birthday, but that lady doesn't get a name, so)
This movie is literally David Cronenberg style direction + Demi Moore reflecting on her 90s career × a theme about the abuse of performance/psychoactive drugs + a vibe like Dr.
Practical effects are just chefs kiss it looks so good and disgusting.
recommending for you to review - have you seen gingersnaps ? lucky ? would you rather ? the roommate ?

I'm staying subbed bc you're funny AF.
Your call backs, the impersonations, the facial expressions, all of it 😂😂😂
So, this is Gen Z’s version of Death Becomes Her
Yay, someone else sees it!
"I sat through every disgusting frame of this film... twice." shout out Porky's
Thank you for covering this movie! I was really looking forward to it!
Some ppl do think this movie is a metaphor for a mother and how she gives up everything for their child.
Definitely not. It's about the everlasting impossible beauty and double standards imposed on women
@ it can be a metaphor for many things. I agree, it’s also a metaphor about how society sees women as less valuable as they age compared to men. which is lame and unfortunate. Yeah, it can be multiple things.
@@taylormade9748 yeah that's basically what i said?
Nah man, people don’t (usually) eat grossly in mukbangs 😭 that was nasty af. Also you referencing knowing him from a family movie and it WASNT Parent Trap was wild
Really good movie. I feel like there was more than a nod to Kubrick, especially with that long hallway with the 70s carpet that eventually gets drenched in blood being very reminiscent of The Shining. The general use of contrast and colour saturation also made me think of Kubrick.
0:16 if i keep myself at home i wont make the same mistake that i made for fifteen years i will be a new girl i will be a new girl i wish that this could go away but when im done singin this song i will have to find something else to do to keep me here something else to keep me here.

It is. Please take a seat over here…
You committed statutory peep. Peeping a video before it even has a full grown bush....of comments? You know what they do to sick freaks like you on Reddit? You'll be lucky to be welcome a LinkedIn regular when we're done with you!
Hey Jimmy, remember when we caught that guy who was the 3rd viewer to type "first" on a JonTron video? They stretched his corneas as big as bank vaults!
I think we can add this movie to the list of really good body horror prosthetic movies and horrifying imagery. God.
BACKSHOT BIRTH IS CRAZY
That “CON TROL YOUR SEEELF!” Was insanely satisfying for some reason 😂
