Bought these after my 17 year hiatus from skating and hot dangggggg, they're so good! The comfort, mind blowing. Can skate for hours with no hot spots or pain, just so good
@@jeremyfitnfun so far so good. I haven’t done any street skating in them yet, mainly because I’m in the uk and the weather is horrific. I’ve had USD, razor, Remz and can say these are by far the comfiest.
@@donutbarbell I'm in the UK too (North Essex). Whereabout are you? I have only skated 3 skates: USD Aeon, Gawds Tim Franken, and Trigger Rainbow Jeff Dalnas. Regarding Shadows, at first I found the looks of it odd, but as you said, I've heard quite a few people say they're the comfiest and also they are good to do technical tricks, so I'm getting interested :) I would choose a freestyle frame for those though.
Man the older xsjado and these new shadows have so much appeal to me havent skated in over 20 years after a gnarly leg break i never was really able to get back on track it was a game ender but i like to see that the sport is making a comeback
USD definitely makes the fastest soul plates(not including the aeon of course).... I had a pair of USD VII skates and they slid like crazy! I’m glad you like the shadows. Bill had the farmer 1’s and later some basic black xsjados. Jonathan had the original Dustin Latimer’s as well. I loved my Damien Wilson’s but the soul plate did get rounded off and caused some issues because I sized down to the small shell. On the Internet we used to call that type of mono strap a “maxi pad“ 😂
With the shadow cronicals b roll in back :D I love the skates too. Only thing i switched out was the frame to a fluid4. I am not precise enough for a flat frame.
First time I’ve ever seen anyone skate shadows (including pros) and thought, “damn those look gooood!”. You were tearing it up and it looks like they fit you perfectly. I’m just now trying to get used to Fluid Vs on my thrones 😁
USD Shadow is not my style of skate, they look like moon boots, but seeing you skating actually it wasn’t looking so bad, it looks like a regular skate from distance, probably I’ll never try it tough, if you guys are interested but a little sceptical about the boots they are not looking bad, I just don’t like this much of complications. Other than that another positive feedback for Fluid V frame which is I really would like to skate. Thanks a lot, great review, not very much interested to skate shadows but always eager to know more details about the skate, appreciated.
Man i literally just threw away some 20 years ago back in late 90s i used back in georgia, havent been anywhere i could ride em and they deteriorated and now i find shadows are more dope when im moving to florida, where im planning on getting new ones
I love these skates!! These were my first introduction to Shadows and I can see where all the hype comes from! So comfortable and slide really well! Also come in handy when I'm skating somewhere where I need to convert to the walkable liners to go into places! Side note: my coworkers told me the liners look like Napolean dynamite boots! 🤣
Just got these and I cant believe how good they are. I've swapped the frame out for Oysi mediums though because I couldn't get on with the fluids! I also had to size up a half size from my street shoe size for the best fit. edit to add: I've been skating these with 5mm Footprint insoles in the boot and without the shock absorbers and the feel is just amazing. I don't do any big gaps and I'm mostly just skating park right now so I don't really have much need for the shock absorption. The increase in proprioceptive sensitivity you get without the shock pads is really quite profound. Having your foot that much closer to the soulplate and frame makes a tremendous amount of difference in my opinion and the skates feel so much more like an extension of your own body. The "lean back" sensation you get without the shock pads may not be for everyone however. I've worn zero-drop & minimalist shoes only for over 10 years, so that flat footed sensation comes as second nature to me.
Very interesting, I hadn’t heard of anyone skating them without the shock absorbers. Really need to pick up some of those FP insoles one of these days. Thanks for the input!
@@iRollerboot Me neither haha. But I tried it and I love it. I realised however that the shock absorbers make for a much smoother ride on rougher terrain i.e street spots. So I made my own shock absorbers from some foam sandals that are half the thickness of the stock shock absorbers. That way I get a bit more of a smooth ride skating street spots while still staying relatively flat-footed in the skates. The footprint insoles are excellent. I prefer the flat ones!
Cool blades.....I skate razor cults, but would love to try these blades......I also like the back drop of the hills in the back ground when you were grinding the rail.....Something about it .....makes it look like in the middle of no where... just awesome scenery......nice review.....
I'm going to send this to EVERYONE who has ever dismissed my shadows/xsjados because they're ugly without trying them. I really think they're the best that's ever been on the market along with classic thrones.
I had the 1st Xsjado 20 y.a, I feel the same and really looking for the Farmer. The confort was good but with this new liner and strap... I have to buy one.
Ugly might not be the best word to use but they definetly need some geting used to. Just weird to look at them and the lookdown is weird. And here I am saying this, while I'm also skating shadows. (The community is great. Check fb)
Killer F7s, man! And the rough grinds, whew! You were really getting down to business💼 Thanks for the video. Super informative and entertaining as usual.
I'm not sure on these skates. I used to use the Original all black team skate back in the day and they were amazing. I loved the concept have having a shoe with the padded cuff rather than the tall walkable liner. Used to love the first gen souls as well. I still have them but the heel shock absorber turned to dust last time I took them out and they're quite hard to find replacements. I'd still skate them today if I could find some of them. As always, keep up the great work with the videos, you're quickly becoming one of my favourites mate! Love from the UK.
If Powerslide keeps making these new Shadows to fit with the old Xsjado parts, I'll be so sold into them for a long time. I never want to replace my old ones, but I hope they keep the style alive for when I have to do that
Obviously you know because I posted it in the gc, but so hyped for mine to come in because I haven’t had a pair of xsjados/shadows since I loaned an ex-friend my Jeff stockwell 4 xsjado 1.0s a few years back
Ohhh man! The 1st basic Xsjado were my last skate bought like 20 years ago. Bought the Aeon XXI for a comeback. About this one, they improve everything from the liner which was the weakness, the strap system and the frame (wasn't a huge fan of the banana). So... I plan to destroy the Aeon very fast so I can legitimately bought the next Farmer Shadow.
My last pair of xsjados was the Jeff Stockwells and I learned everything on them. Getting back into the sport a couple years later and I got some Razors SL but I miss that xsjado flex and huge plate. Definitely thinking about getting these!!!! Thanks for the review!!!
I bought a pair of these and can't decide if I like them or not. The liner is really tall and I'm struggling to get boot down on royales, but it's still too early to tell. Great video, Dude.
I grew up skating the xsjado Damien Wilson’s and remember how supportive they were. When I got back into blading, I got the USD SHADOW 57s with the 2.0 (2 piece) cuffs and immediately noticed they were super floppy, almost like remz. I’m used to them now after skating them for a couple of years and I want the Eugen’s so bad. I’m so glad they brought back the 1.0 cuff, but now I’m afraid I’m too used to the 2.0 cuffs. Could you try out some shadow 57s or xsjado 2.0s and compare the support? I’m too broke to. 🤣
It seems that they were just available for size EU42 and above… or there have been just very small quantities for smaller sizes. USD has none in stock at the moment but is expecting another model (!) in June. It should be just a different design but basically same boot.
The Fluid V's are imo the best flat frame around period, not a fan of the shadow aesthetically though they look like space boots LOL but each to their own.

Depends. I’m an actual 10.5 in cults with the stock liners. But I can downsize to the 8/9 shell with the second skins. I’m a 275 mondo and these fit perfectly. I’d lean towards buying true to size on these.

@@iRollerboot thats it, we were discussing this last weekend...we are sure if you are skilled enough you can also use this effect to slow yourself down on rails...as you said in this vid you need to know the nuances of your boots very well, defo not a beginner technique
Aeons or shadows ? Which are your favorite right now?
Kind of tough to say. Bit honestly…I could see myself skating these more.
i was thinking buy mesmer but after this video i don't know, I’m not yong any more , i don’t wham to my knees hurt , i want a confit and flexy skates, maybe the usd shadows are the answer.

I wonde how sizes go for these skates if it runs true to size or you size down or what not
I believe these run true to size if I’m not mistaken.
So if I’m an actual 10.5 like my cults are that size and I think they fit well, what size should I get?
Depends. I’m an actual 10.5 in cults with the stock liners. But I can downsize to the 8/9 shell with the second skins. I’m a 275 mondo and these fit perfectly. I’d lean towards buying true to size on these.
@@iRollerboot woooorrrddd Ty fam time to save 400 lol
@@iRollerboot bro you can fit a size 10.5 liner in a 8/9??? Does that hurt the feets?!! Lol
Where are you purchasing skates from?

It’s huge, not sure on size but widely accepted to be the biggest on the market.
