Thanks Jeff, what I love about your content that it's always honest. I need to take a trip to my Ace store, and check this bad boy out...Thanks again for the great review.
Great review. I ordered mine yesterday and it will be delivered Friday. Lowe’s is great about free assembly and they offer free delivery. It’s going to sit on my deck, next to my Blackstone griddle. Thanks for your excellent, in-depth review. It helped with my decision to buy this unit.
Everything you described with this Searwood is accurate. I’ve owned mine since March and love everything about it. I have yet to cook a rotisserie but I have no doubt it can make some delicious chicken. One thing I upgraded was the steel grates with porcelain enamel cast iron the ones that fit the old version. It has an almost exact fit with .5 inch gap. It makes excellent grill marks.
That's a great suggestion! It's a strange move from Weber that they didn't just use the same grill grates, since this the Searwood is supposed to be all about Searing. Good to hear it fits almost perfect though.
Awesome review Jeff - That's an impressive smoker/grill/griddle/rotisserie indeed - It's a "Swiss Army Knife" of outdoor cooking. The rotisserie option has to set it far ahead of anything else - I wish I had that on my Camp Chef, as I'm about to rotisserie a yardbird on my gas grill, and I'll have to add a pellet smoke tube to try to get at least some somke flavor on it. As usual - Cheers!
Heck ya Garry and my guess you will see a lot of other brands add this option to their models too!! Nothing beat a pellet grilled rotisserie chicken!!! Thanks for watching brother and I hope you are enjoying your summer!!
Ya Mario, I am pretty impressed with this pellet grill. They totally redeemed themselves, like dumb and dumber!!! hahahahhaha Thanks for watching brother!!
Great review and I agree. I love my searwood, I have the rotisserie and the pizza stone accessories. Will be looking to get that griddle accessory soon.
Awesome review Jeff. Shocked you're keeping it. I still love my SmokeFire but will be looking to this pit (or an LSG if I really want to cry once) in the future.
I would go with the Lonestar only if your planning on smoking more given The flame zone on the lone star is not that big. The Webber is more of a Swiss army knife can do one thing that good but can do all things sufficient.
Ya Troy for BBQ the LSG is still the best pellet I have ran to date but this Searwood is so versatile it is hard to send to the storage shed!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!!!
@@SmokedBBQSource Weber does make a versatile pellet grill. I love to cook tri tips on the EX6 with mesquite pellets. You can't tell it was done on a pellet grill. It gets a nice smoke flavor with that char from the fire kissing the meat off the flavorizer bars. That thing has a giant flavorizer, I bet the fire kiss is beautiful. I really think the key to smoke flavor off a pellet grill depends on the pellets. I stay away from fruit woods and pretty much only use Pecan, Char Hickory or Mesquite from Lumberjack and get good smoke flavor. The smoke rings are off the hook so no reason to add cherry. Look at me rambling...LOL
Heck ya Judge!!! This might be your next grill!!! Just being able to do so many style of cooking really sets it apart from other box store brands!!! Thanks for watching, brother!!
Nice review. I have a Pit Boss that CONSTANTLY clogs up at the feeding screw so I'm looking for something else. And when it does work, I have to make sure not to put food directly over the fire pot area! I don't look forward to putting this together though if I decide to purchase it. Thanks for the honest review!
God this looks incredible! Was looking at the smoke fire and didn't realise there's a new version in the states. Have been wanting either a pellet or charcoal grill and this seems to be the best of both worlds! When is it coming to Aus!
Not really sure when it will arrive there but typically it is around a year after it is introduced to the states. It is a very nice grill, not perfect but still better than most!! Thanks for watching!
Nice... its Thursday and time to get some steaks out. Great Steak night idear! The rotisserie is something I don't have currently on my 5 grills/smokers now and i think you tipped me in favor of the Weber Searwood over another brand. Looking forward to that Rib roast video.
Heck ya Kevin!! This pit is not perfect but it is waaaayyy better than what I expected!! I love being able to do a rotisserie chicken in it one day and the next do some smash burgers!!! Yes the accessories will cost you more but this pit so far seems to be built to last!!! Other than the darn wheels!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching!!
@@SmokedBBQSource Agreed on the wheels. That was the first thing I replaced on my Weber Slate Flattop this spring was putting on better casters with brakes.
Thanks, Rod!!! I try to run them like how the average person does and I must say if someone just wants one grill, the Searwood has their name on it!!! Like always, thanks for watching, brother!
Great info. I love my pit boss I use it 6 times a week with sear grate open for fish, chicken, pork chops, veggies stir fried in pan. I use it probably twice a month for long smokes. I love the sear smoke taste. Only thing I don’t like is small sear area on pit boss 820. Does the searwood really open up searing across entire grill in your experience?
Pretty dang close to a full grate sear. One side is hotter than the other but that is the same on every Pit Boss I have owned. I really like this pellet grill and I hope Weber makes another model that is a little fancier in the future. Thanks for watching!!
I have the Pit Boss barrel but it won't be for at least a month before I get any reviews done on it. Looks like a nice charcoal rig and the assembly wasn't bad at all either!! Thanks for watching!!
Quick question, I was thinking of getting the $2500 camp chef apex (propane grill and smoker in one) I didn't have the funds at the time and I'm glad I didn't as it looks like they discontinued it and the reviews on it were pretty poor. I was now looking at other options and came across this grill. The price point is great too! My main questions is: When you have the continuous feed mode on for grilling burgers and such, how much actual smoke is produced? Do you actually tase a smokey flavor to your burgers? I honestly don't want much of a smokey flavor on the high sear/grill mode. Can you still set your smoke level to 1 with a high temp setting? Thanks!
There is smoke flavor but you are cooking so hot that there is not a ton. I am not a huge fan of a reverse seared ribeye steak on a pellet grill. They absorb way too much smoke flavor, with the Searwood, I have really enjoyed the flavor on these steak. Reminds me of the flavor I get when I am cooking on a tripod above a campfire. The APEX is an awesome grill and honestly one of my favorite combos made but the cost is crazy!! Thanks for watching!
Do you ever plan on doing a review of the Camp Chef Woodwind Pro 24? A comparison with the Searwood 24 would be great! I'm in the market for one or the other. Can't seem to make up my mind. One more question, I noticed you were using Grill Grates when you were cooking those nice rib-eyes. Why? If the Searwood cranks up too high temps, couldn't you just throw them on the grates?
I will be working on the review soon! I love the standard cross hatching I get when using GrillGrates. The Stainless will make sear marks but not as fancy as the GGs!!! I think I have steaks on the regular SS grates in the grilling video on the Searwood that I did?!?!! Thanks for watching!!
@@SmokedBBQSource Thank you. The Searwood 600 is on my "like it" list. I just sold my Grila OG and plan on replacing it with a more standard barrel-style pellet grill as soon as I decide which one. your videos are a big help.
Any thoughts on buying the XL over the 600? I have a Genesis now but going to a pellet grill and the flexibility, such as the rotisserie and griddle, of the Weber makes it the top choice. I saw the 600 but it seemed smaller than my Genesis.
I have the XL and would never want to go back. The additional room, pellet level sensor, and more consistent temperatures edge to edge make the $300 more than worth it. It's been a blast so far coming from a GMG.
Ricer, I’ve got to ask. I am actively learning about pellet grills and am close to making a purchase but I would value your opinion. We are a family of 12, for sizing. I am interested in the Traeger Ironwood XL, Camp Chef with the smoke box tray, and the Searwood. There are different perspectives to evaluate from, but versitility of possibly having searing over just my dream smoker (Traeger) leans me towards the Weber for burgers/steak and chicken. What are your lucid thoughts after running these? Cheers brother
The Searwood is probably the most versatile box store pellet grill on the market right now. Now with a family of 12 you are going to probably need the XL model. If you were mainly looking at just doing BBQ, the Traeger would be the right choice but I am telling you that prime rib was so easy and fun on that rotisserie!!! Just double check that you can get the griddle and the rotisserie in the XL model. The chamber on the Searwood is very durable and the cart is good but those wheels are so disappointing. I hope this helps but you honestly won't go wrong with all 3 models!!! Just the Weber has taken the pellet grill to the next level in 2024!! Thanks for watching!
The Searwood with the direct drive is actually designed to run a griddle hot enough. Other drop in griddles never truly get hot enough to do smash burgers!
We're going to do a video comparison on this for sure. For now, I would say if you want whole surface grilling/griddle and rotisserie, go the Weber; if you want to mostly Smoke, go the Woodwind Pro. While you can add the sidekick for searing, the size is quite small so you can't grill up a large batch of burgers...
@@SmokedBBQSource I had a Louisiana for 10yrs and sold it it's still working 2 yrs later . But my brother had the same and did have a controller replaced

Some accessories I am adding is a front shelf made of teak wood and some caster wheels.
