From Noise to Knowledge - Imaging FC(C)S in Image J/FIJI

    The understanding of a biological system requires not only its structure but also its dynamics. With modern cameras we can now record dynamics in an imaging format below the millisecond time scale using fluorescence signals of the biomolecules of interest. The analysis of the data can be achieved by imaging Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (imaging FCS) which analyses the fluctuation in fluorescence in each pixel and provides maps of various parameters including concentrations and diffusion coefficients over whole cells in tissue culture and in vivo. The talk will introduce the principles of imaging FCS data analysis workflow and introduce our imaging FCS plugin for FIJI/ImageJ, including its latest developments such as GPU acceleration and real-time data evaluation.
