Wow love the lights , really makes a difference, I bet all those new switches was a big chunk of change lol. The track is so smooth and reliable, I’ve been really happy with Ross and Menards. It’s looking good , keep it up!!
looks like menards is doing high rail tubular like lionel 031 used to be? the switches are super and match the track height. i'm using tubular again more and more. just looks so cool when you ballast it. the helix ride is neat. thanks.
Yep, Menards track looks very similar. The metal is slightly different, but conductivity has been great for the year+ I have been working on this layout. I think Ross are the only tubular switches that are being produced today, and they have also been great. Thanks for commenting!
@@angeloavanti2538 They only offer 2 sizes of tinplate tubular switches, so that limits me to using 072 or #4 switches, but I was able to work around it. If you use regular T rail track like Atlas, they offer so many things I’m their line. That’s ok, I’m just glad that they make what they do for tubular.
@@whitmorestrains I heard you mention O-72 when referring to a switch in the video...did you use any #4 RossPlate switches? I'm looking at Ross RPT200 and RPT201 #4 switches to build a ladder yard with Menards tubular track. The Menards track is a good value and works well...I've heard that Ross Switches are fantastic but I don't know anyone who has used RossPlate Tubular Rail switches. I assume they are as good as their other switches for the high-end track systems.
@@kevinmacdowell1722 I have Ross tinplate 072 and #4 switches. Those are the only varieties that Ross makes in tinplate. My outer 2 loops are connected with back to back #4s just so I could get the tracks closer together than 072 would give me. All of my Ross switches are great! I have a non-tinplate Ross switch here and it’s very similar to my tinplate, just not as tall, and not as thick of plastic because of the lower profile. I’m very happy with them and my Menards track. Pretty much zero issues.
Ross only makes 2 curve sizes in their traditional tinplate O track, but they make so many varieties of track switches in their modern O track catalog. It’s a lower profile track so you will need to build it up to be as tall as tubular, and also buy the tinplate pins to gargraves adaptors.
It’s from the 2006 MTH RTR catalog. I got it then from my local hobby shop, plus added any extra car I could find. It’s finally complete, plus an additional car or two, but I am always on the lookout for any additional cars. I have never seen the set for sale anywhere else, including the York show, but I’m sure there are some out there somewhere. Good luck!
👍Cool layout & update • Cheers from the Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
Very cool! The helix is great, smooth run and great cab ride view! 👍
More Track Rick, digs your toy train layout. The very definition of Fun!! AKA BarstowRick signing off.

They were…but you only buy them once, right? :)
Nice use of round rail💪🏽
I like it!
Thanks for the latest tour!
You bet!
Looking really neat and functional! Great variety of switching options! Fantastic! And using leds to light up the hidden lower level is a great idea!
Fantastic layout! Are those super O tracks?
It is regular tinplate track from Menards. Very similar to Lionel’s old track that they used to make.
@@whitmorestrains thank you
@@MrPhotoMan22 no problem! Thanks for commenting!

Just went to Ross website. See what you started? lol. Didn't know they had such assortment of goodies.

Wow!! This is going to be an amazing layout! Can’t wait to see it develop 👍
Slow & steady :)
Does ross custom swithes make Y switches and other sorts of switches for tubular o guage track.
