Hello, I'm in 4th year physical therapy , and I'm totally confused about further studies.. I want to study abroad and something related to physical therapy but less stress .. People gave me options of public health management, public care, MBA , nutrition and MPT ofc .. But I feel like physical therapy is not something what I enjoy being in medical field. I'm confused what should I look up for?
Dear Ritu and Taania, Thanks for writing to me..! First of all, D.P.T stands for Doctor of Physical therapy and B.P.T stands for Bachelor in Physiotherapy/ Physical therapy. In the year 2000 the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) passed its Vision '2020 statement', according to which, eventually all PT’s should be on the doctorate level. How to achieve that? You can read on their website, here is the link - www.apta.org/PostprofessionalDegree/TransitionDPTFAQs/ Also let me tell you that, DPT may also refer to Diploma in Physiotherapy, I am not sure, which college is offering now this course, but after BPT program came in, Diploma in Physiotherapy has been scrapped by most of the institution. And even government has raised the standards in their recruitment. All over the world, the physiotherapy standards have been raised and I suggest we need to comply with to stand on International standards.... All the best!
