Elkie sang this at Whitley Bay Playhouse last night, gave me goosebumps, fabulous night, the audience loved her, best concert I've ever attended, love her.
I used to like Elkie Brooks way back in the day with Pearl’s a Singer and Sunshine After Rain, etc. Nice to know that she’s still got it, this is a great interpretation of Bob Dylan’s late career classic love ballad.
I agree this is the best version and also my favourite song of all time. She deserves so much more recognition. Saw her play the Stables In Wavendon last night - she’s phenomenal. Her rendition of this gave me goosebumps! ❤
If you read correctly you will see I wrote OBVIOUSLY. I prefer The Version by Elkie's version as she can sing. Dylan was not known for his vocal ability. Obviously my opinion.
She did a mindblowing live version of this on Radio 2 in the UK a couple of years ago that made Adele sound very average. Unbelievable voice in her mid 70's
Same here. Couldn't beleive it was taken down. Glad its back up, where can I get a copy incase it happens again? One of my favourite songs of all time.
Beautiful song. Thank you. You know i will never stop loving and wanting you. But i have to find a way to stop hurting. If i could do that without leaving you, i would be so happy. I guess i am greedy, wanting your love and wanting my self esteem both !!!
When the rain is blowing in your face And the whole world is on your case I could offer you a warm embrace To make you feel my love When the evening shadows and the stars appear And there is no one there to dry your tears Oh, I hold you for a million years To make you feel my love I know you haven't made your mind up yet But I will never do you wrong I've known it from the moment that we met No doubt in my mind where you belong I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue And I'd go crawling down the avenue No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do To make you feel my love The storms are raging on the rolling sea And on the highway of regret The winds of change are blowing wild and free You ain't seen nothing like me yet I could make you happy, make your dreams come true There's nothing that I wouldn't do Go to the ends of this Earth for you To make you feel my love, oh yes To make you feel my love
It's a tad unfair to compare Elkie with Adele. For starters, Elkie's a fair few years older than Adele and has honed her vocals, plus she's not had an easy run in life, her personal experiences alone make Adele's life seem like a walk in the park. Adele has a magnificent set of pipes on her, no-one can deny that, and she has plenty of years ahead of her to age and mellow her vocals. Yes, Elkie's rendition of this ballad pips Adele's to the post but that's not to say Adele's rendition is without merit, she makes a great effort. Elkie is the consumate torch song balladeer , Adele is Lady In Waiting, as t'were. IMHO.
Elkie sounded like this when she was 19. Check out here early stuff here on TH-cam . She is also a great Blues singer and Rock singer checks out her stuff with Vinegar Joe and Jazz singer check out her stuff with Humphrey Lyttelton
@@Jake-oc5xz ... I first saw her in 1979 at age 19 and was instantly hooked. At that age I didn't have a particularly experienced ear for music, I just knew I loved what I was hearing.. I've seen her twice more since that 1st gig, both times in the last decade so a good 30 years since I first saw her and can say she constantly amazed me with her vocals. I must add that much of Jazz leaves me cold though I can listen to her in the genre.
imo I think Rebecca fergusons is the best ,though adele and elkes versions are exceptional ,bob Dylan must be honoured to have 3 fantastic versions of his song ,
+Jackie1957able I think everyone has their own favourite version of this . This one is a bit to eer'rock' for me . I prefer.Bonnie and a young artist called Louise Setara . Definately cant rule out Garth Brooks either xxx
Elkie Brooks was singing way before Tyler, Tyler is only a studio artist. Elkie Brooks sounds great studio and live singer. Elkie is a way better singer.
Shame on the record company that this wasn't a huge hit!! Absolute class.
Elkie sang this at Whitley Bay Playhouse last night, gave me goosebumps, fabulous night, the audience loved her, best concert I've ever attended, love her.
Every word is crystal clear! 💕

Wow ! I didn't knew that even Elkie Brooks sang this version before Adele ! 💖💖💖
I like this version better than Adele's. Both beautiful but this has more soul.
@@pedromaione6461 indeed ! ☺☺☺
She should of been a superstar so underrated

Elkie's rendition just takes you to another place. Eat your heart out Adele!
Was thinking that myself superb performance
I agree but I think Adele was 100 per cent inspired by this version so don't think she'd disagree.
Some years back the US singer Julie Felix went to see Elkie in concert and said she loved Elkie’s version of this Dylan song
Best version ever
When I hear other versions of this , I always come back and listen to this version. Love it.

Obviously your opinion, myself says Elkie
Well of course it's my opinion, I wouldn't give someone elses...
If you read correctly you will see I wrote OBVIOUSLY. I prefer The Version by Elkie's version as she can sing. Dylan was not known for his vocal ability. Obviously my opinion.

THE best version of this song and so hard to find. I find this more moving than Adele's version
She did a mindblowing live version of this on Radio 2 in the UK a couple of years ago that made Adele sound very average. Unbelievable voice in her mid 70's
I heard it , it was great. But have never been able to find it again 😞☹️
@@Jake-oc5xz It was on you tube but the good old BBC pulled it when they brought out "BBC Radio 2 The Piano Room 2019" on which it features.
Same here. Couldn't beleive it was taken down. Glad its back up, where can I get a copy incase it happens again? One of my favourite songs of all time.
Passion and feeling's Elkie......Bob Dillian song 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🌹🌹

Just the best.
wow!!
Beautiful song. Thank you. You know i will never stop loving and wanting you. But i have to find a way to stop hurting. If i could do that without leaving you, i would be so happy. I guess i am greedy, wanting your love and wanting my self esteem both !!!
Love it !!!!
Who's Adele???
Forever good!!!
When the rain is blowing in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
Oh, I hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
I know you haven't made your mind up yet
But I will never do you wrong
I've known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong
I'd go hungry; I'd go black and blue
And I'd go crawling down the avenue
No, there's nothing that I wouldn't do
To make you feel my love
The storms are raging on the rolling sea
And on the highway of regret
The winds of change are blowing wild and free
You ain't seen nothing like me yet
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
There's nothing that I wouldn't do
Go to the ends of this Earth for you
To make you feel my love, oh yes
To make you feel my love
really good version

Great version Elkie! I have done a remake of this song as well, please check it out when you get a chance :)

A Jew singing the lyrics of another Jew (Bob Dylan)
So , what’s your point.
And?
sounds like Bonnie Tyler a bit

Elkie Brooks is the whole package , Rock, Blues, Jazz. Tyler tried to copy Elkie.Tyler is just Pop .
Elkie Brooks can sing much better.
