      xeniosaias volkswagen is the best company in the world for car.I like very much Peugeot and I have a car of it and of volkswagen too.But Peugeot is french and Volkswagen is german so everyone know who is better to produce cars(volkswagen)!

      Well, at least VW and Škoda offer 4x4, and Kodiaq looks good imho...but I agree 3008 is really nice car, inside and from the outside as well.

    I've bought this car and now i'm waiting for it. Me and my wife loved it from the first sight and Test-sitting. I even didn't make a test drive because we were sure of it: In any case it would be much better than our old car (19 years old!), so we thought: Who cares? And all the Reviews i saw so far verify my first opinion: It was the right choice! Great Job Peugeot, can't wait for it! Btw: We never thought we would ever by a french car :)

    Spec like for like, and there is no way this costs as much as a Tiguan. Tidy car and miles nicer than dull German stuff.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just ran a configurator (Polish VW site) for VW Tiguan FWD 6DSG 1.4 TSI Highline. It comes up within a 1-2 thousand euro difference. Peugeot has massage seats, VW has ergoComfort seats. But otherwise they are pretty much similar.

    • @scoopermg8226
      @scoopermg8226 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Marek Drives I did the same for a 2.0d manual on each (common choice in the UK). the difference was ₤5500 for a very similar spec. That's before discounts, which historically in the UK, would again favour the French cars.
      Good review though! If you say a French car is good, then it best be great.

    • @Jorg05111980
      @Jorg05111980 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In the netherlands, this car and the Tiguan run very close....the 3008 is about 2,000 EUR less on almost the same trim. Don't like the fact that peugeot doesn't show exactly what is on a certain trim, like blind spot monitoring etc.

    • @mkkravist11
      @mkkravist11 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wonder in 3-5 years time, whether the 3008 would still be as good. Electrical/trim issues possibly, and would it generally wear as well as the German cars? This guy's getting issues after a few months. Plus I guess it will depreciate a lot faster? Last Pug i owned was a 205 gti in red which was the best car ever made. Not best quality, just the best. FACT. Utter craziness that i ever got rid of that car, it would be worth 25 grand these days. 3008 looks a nice car but just concerned it will start to get a bit ragged over time compared to the ruthless quality of Das Auto. Would you want to sink 25K into a new Peugeot? Lease only I think.

    I was waiting for your review to hear your honest and realistical opinion. Everything you said is in the right place. Maybe I'm a little bit biased towards Peugeot as a brand due to the fact that I own one, but this is just a massive improvement over the old car. The quality of the materials, especially the ones bellow that you don't usually touch is brilliant and IMHO it feels better than the Tiguan's interior, which is the benchmark car for this C-segment crossover stuff. The only problem with this car might be the price, because,at least in Croatia, buyers are badge snobs and they would rather drive a Basic 1.4 TSI 125 hp Tiguan, than a mid spec 3008 1.6 diesel which is priced the same.

    It is quite an expensive car in the UK. However, why should it not be? The looks, the available specification, the interior design, the drivetrain and the whole package is very attractive indeed. Apart from it not having 4wd. For most people, that is not a practical issue but it is priced right up there with 4wd rivals such as the Tiguan, CR-V, and the new Skoda Kodiaq.
    I'm in the market and a current CR-V owner. I must say that this and the Kodiaq are front runners to order for March or April delivery. The only rival I have seen and driven as yet is the Tiguan 2.0 DSG 150 and very nice it is. However the Kodiaq is more my size and I think that [on TH-cam] it looks better than than new CR-V or Tiguan and is about the same price and only very slightly more expensive than an equally high end 3008.
    I price them all between £32,000 and £38,000, depending on extras.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      3008 will probably get a hybrid AWD option later on. I hope they drop the diesel hybrid idea, because I would imagine it makes the car too expensive even with local incentives/tax breaks. Correct me, if I'm wrong.
      CR-V (beside the way it looks) is a very good, spacious car. Some may find the engine lineup to small to choose from.
      R-Line Tiguan looks money, but IMO it is not that much of a quality advancement from Mk1. I yet have to see the Kodiaq in metal.

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Skoda dealer just rang me a few minutes ago as a result of my web enquiry last night. They have not seen the car yet and are due for sales training in January. Order books are now open for March/April delivery in the UK. They will be in touch with me again in late January or early February when they get showroom cars and a launch event planned.
      The 3008 might be available sooner.
      A petrol hybrid or even a full electric version would be great for town use, but the 130hp 1.2 petrol should not be ignored just because it is only 1.2 litres. It is 130hp, that's the point and it may well have reasonable torque at lowish revs.

  • @tjanjic1
    @tjanjic1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Seems like a very very nice car. Will have test drive next week myself. My only problem is that here in Croatia you can't get 150 HP diesel with automatic gearbox. Only 180 HP in GT Line specification. And its FWD only. Pity. Anyway, I am in the market for 5008 - seems it should be just as good as 3008, hopefully with desirable engine-gearbox combination at least, if not with AWD option.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I just drive a FWD C-HR up in the Polish mountains. The roads are white, snow is falling, but I managed. Sure, I'd probably get stuck on gravel road, but then how often do you go on gravel roads in the winter? You can have this with grip control, which is not bad, as long as you keep driving straight.

    • @tjanjic1
      @tjanjic1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen lots of reviewers claiming grip control is good compromising solution. But I often make trips to Moscow by car. Usually not in warm part of the year. Have done it with several different cars already (Megane, 508 even with Clio RS). During those trips, there were many occasions I wished I had a AWD... Not a rigid, real off road 4x4. Just the option of additional grip on 2nd pair of the wheels.

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tihomir Janjic Then you don't have much choice. Golf Alltrack? Or some Subaru.

    • @tjanjic1
      @tjanjic1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, as you could probably figure out from my previous reply, I am kind of french car guy (know you don't like us much ;) ). So I will first check Koleos when it shows up in our dealers shops. Though I don't actually see point in SUV's - its my wife's wish to purchase an SUV. I myself would rather wait a little - for a new 508 RXH. Btw, do you have any inside info when new 508 could be introduced?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tihomir Janjic New as in next generation? Let's see... Facelift was about two years ago, so I suppose it's two more before they release second generation.
      RXH was pretty cool, but after FL they dropped hybrid AWD (at least in Poland). Too expensive.

  • @utubeleplague

    On the price department, it's no surprise this car is expensive for a French car.. tbh, the only reason French cars aren't usually too expensive is not because they can't make them expensive because they can, but the competition on the high end premium market is too big with the German cars in there.

    Hi Marek,
    Great review as always. To be honest, if you are paying top spec prices for the 3008 why isn’t there 4x4 or AWD options. Or have I missed something?
    Btw i liked your Volvo V90 review. I bought the D5 AWD Inscription S90 last year. I think you were unlucky with the broke S90 you were originally given before the V90. If I wasn’t married already I would propose marriage to it. Its an awesome machine. You didn’t talk much about the ‘pulse’ 2 stage super/turbo charger either. It transforms a mediocre 4 cyl diesel to something else.
    Keep up the good work.
    Oh yes, I bought a Peugeot 2008 today. just going to watch what you think about, won’t make any difference, my Wife LOVES it.
    Cya!

    Hi Marek! When I went for a car trip with my girlfriend, from Sweden to Poland (to visit auschwitz), a friend of mine told me that it's a requirement to have a fire extinguisher in the car, I brought one, but is it true?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's true. You're supposed to have a fire extinguisher. Don't know why, because it's too small to extinguish any substantial fire, but this is the law.

    • @HastPhotography
      @HastPhotography 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Marek Drives okay! I was in Poland for 2 days and didn't see one cop, especially not on the highways, it was more like an autobahn, but with better roads. Those highways that you pay to travel on are real good! And here in Sweden we don't have very high thoughts about people in Poland, I don't know why.. after my trip in Poland I realized how friendly and and modern you guys really are. Sure there are some places that isn't up to date, but you live in a nice country Marek! 👌

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Björn Hast Police and motorways are a different story. There are no speed traps on the motorway, only on regular roads with speed limit up to 90 km/h. But police and "city guard" will usually set up speed traps somewhere close to the city limit sign, so it's easier to catch someone driving over 50 km/h.
      Generally Poles have very liberal approach to speed limits. Doing 20-30 km/h over the speed limit is normal, but you'll often see people driving even faster. To curb this there is now a new law, where police will take your driving license for three months, if they catch you speeding 50 over the speed limit in urban area. So people try not to drive faster than 99 km/h in the city :)
      I don't know what image of Poles there is in Sweden. I suppose these days we're pretty much the same, as most of Europe. With all the positives and negatives.

I had to actually play it twice to check If I haven't miss anything, because I did not hear what actually engine is fitted there, not even if its diesel or petrol, or some feeling about it - is it smooth ot not, vibrations, turbo lag, overal feeling compared to similar engines, whatever else.... It's called English grammar.
      How tall are you? The correct reply is: I'm X cm tall.

    Saw it on a Pug showroom last week in Belgium."GT line" spec.
    I was very impressed by the quality and the design of the interior, but there's something that almost gave me a damn heart attack...45000 euros.
    That's the price one would have paid for a brand new Range Rover back in the middle-90s.I'd definitely not spend that sum in a pug, even if it's a good one.

      It's funny how people complain about cheap cars when they feel cheap, but when a car is high quality, you complain it's too expensive... the reason why it feels high quality is because it uses expensive materials, expensive manufacturing methods, more expensive and thorough assembly methods, etc. If you want a high quality cheap car, buy a 10 year old S-class with 300,000km on the clock.

      I am looking forward to order this car, but i really don't know what would be the better choice. I can get the 1,2 130 hp puretech with more optionals, or the 1,6 hdi 120hp with less ones. What would you chose between this two engines?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Dinu Codescu First of all I'd think about financing. Is a 100-150 euro a month going to make so much difference? Get the gadgets you want.
      As far as the engine is concerned, depends where you're going to drive it. No reason to pay for a diesel, if you're going to drive the car mainly around town.

    • @thedons4270
      @thedons4270 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dinu Codescu as marek says get the pure tech petrol if you do all town city driving but if you do a lot of miles get the 1.6 diesel. far more economical long distances, but if you have the car full of passengers and baggage a lot with lots of miles then get the 2.0 litre diesel. i will probably order the 3008 next year. test drove it and far superior to anything similar out there right now.

    I have several questions regarding this car since I'm considering buying it:
    1. Which engine should I get? The 1.6 diesel or the 1.6 petrol? (I normally do around 20.000 km a year, 80% outside the city) - these two engines are available in stock in Romania at the moment and I need a car pretty soon.
    2. Is the automatic gear box any good? Since the 1.6 l petrol is only available with this automatic
    3. As a car (not considering looks) is it better than the Tiguan?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1. With this milage outside the city you'll probably be better off with a diesel.
      2. It's not bad. There are better ones out there, but it's OK.
      3. IMO it is. That said the new Tiguan is somewhat disappointing.

    • @lungsilviu
      @lungsilviu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My only worry about the 1.6 diesel is that it might be a bit too slow (about 120hp) and I am currently driving a 1.5 diesel and I'm starting to get sick of the agricultural sound (like you ususally say it :D).
      I don't know if you had the opportunity to drive all the available engines. I did a test drive with the 2l diesel which is quite punchy but kind of raises the cost too much (ans is also not available in stock until April or May)

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Let's put it this way - this car can be fast in a straight line, but it's not made for enthusiastic driving. I understand a 1.6 diesel can feel a little underpowered, especially when overtaking. The price difference is indeed substantial.

      +Marek Drives No one has? I don't think any dealership has it yet. Anyhow, I think the 3008's interior really stands out. It looks far superior to any other compact SUV, including the facelifted CX-5.

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I drove the 3008 a couple of days ago, brand new, and have driven the CX-5 before that, and pretty much every other car in the segment. IMHO, 3008 is the best car overall right now, closely followed by Tiguan, which is a bit boring and feels really depressive inside in comparison to the 3008. 3008 is more silent and more refined than the Mazda, and Mazda looks outdated inside. It's not bad, but I'd take the 3008 over it.

    Marek, great review! Thank you.
    I must say that 3008 has a realy poor choice of petroel engines, only 3 cylinder with one engine oiption, which is realy paradoxal since big EU cities are banning diesel engines. This 3 cylinder engine is not convenient (for me) for such a big car.
    The pricing is in a range of Tiguan, but, this is just a start of production/sales!
    Ateca vs. Tiguan vs. 3008, what would you buy? Diesel or petrol?

    • @hedydd2
      @hedydd2 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Around town, petrol without a doubt. For mainly long drives and high mileage users, then diesel. The higher powered 1.6 is probably all that is needed but the 2.0 is attractive. The choice of petrol engine depends on what kind of driver you are. I think they have a good range of petrol engines.
      Personally I am a diesel driver and would take much persuading to buy a petrol engine. I do long trips, so have no problems with particulate filters, and I have 5500 litres of storage for diesel fuel at home, so it is very convenient for my family and business small fleet.

    • @p_peja
      @p_peja 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @hedydd2

      130hp though, which is more than enough for most people. Try it before dismissing it, and try it in the context of driving normally, not a race car. Then let is know what you think.
