Hello from Korea :-) Flower work is not Korean thing It’s from RM’s imagination that when he lied down in the field, he threw flowers in the air and he felt like firework so that’s why he calls flower work!

  • @OK-gv2uz
    @OK-gv2uz ปีที่แล้ว +263

Firework in Korea is called 불꽃놀이(Bul-KKeot-Nori) which literally means Fire-Flower-Play. And the Original Title of RM's song in Korean is 들꽃놀이(Deul-KKweot-Nori) which means Filed-Flower-Play. (Fieldflower means Wildflower )
The MV starts with beautiful fireworks, but later almost at the end of the MV instead of fireworks there is a scene of 낙화놀이(Nak-hwa-Nori). Nakhwa Nori is South Korea's traditional fireworks but they are different in many ways. Firework use chemicals so it explodes and disappears in a short amount of time, but Nakhwa Nori use charcoal so it slowly burns and last for hours. Also while fireworks are shot high up in the sky, Nakhwa Nori is hung in the sky so the flames falls to the ground. Nakwha literally means falling flames and falling flowers.
Its just like his lyrics "I yearned for the flames(firework), I yearned for a beautiful fall." Wildflower is such as beautiful song and I really enjoyed your reactions, thank you and have a nice day 💜

Different types of fireworks are actually named after flowers e.g. peony, dahlia, chrysanthemum etc. Hence the “light a flower, flower works”, kinda like a wordplay.

@10:35 this just dawned on me. The pants could represent all the different personalities RM has tried and worn while in his 20's. But finally he found the perfect pair of pants that he is wearing now💜. So in the sketch video for the Album Photo Cover, RM actually said they were all jeans from his closet that he has worn over the years. During his Tiny Desk, he said this album is about most of his 20's. Thanks guys!

So Yunjeen is the lead singer of alternative rock band Cherry Filter and shes a similar age to Alanis Morrisette as shes 45 and her voice is amazing. This whole album just shows why we dont think of the boys as "Idols" because they are world class ARTISTS pure and simple. RM asked for every person individually that joined him on this album and they all said yes straight away which just goes to show that other artists have the utmost respect for him. Also just so you know he doesnt list them as featured he lists them as WITH a sign that he has the utmost respect for the people who joined him on this album. Also the fireworks that looked like they were raining on him are real not cgi and he said they were quite hot to work under and the little sparks kept falling on him lol. They are the years you guys were born for the numbers.

RM made the word as a play on words. He says BTS is like a "fireworks" while he Kim Namjoon is like a "wildflowers" attached to the earth. He visions laying in a field throwing flowers up in the air and them raining down like "flowerworks". You should watch RM Indigo Magazine Interview. He deep dives into the concept and construction of the album. He discusses each track in order his choices of genres, ft artists, producers, and his inspiration for each track. Completely in RM'S eloquently spoken words. It is a must see as he speaks of his motivation and inspiration for this Masterpiece. 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

RM made up the term flowerwork. He said the song was actually gonna be called that but he changed it. He compared BTS to fireworks and himself as his own person to flowerworks as if he was laying in a field of flowers and threw petals in the air.

I didn't realize how many new songs we received from the boys this year but Wildflower is definitely my ultimate favorite release of 2022 followed by More from J-Hope. Both songs were so different from their usual sounds, which made them even more impressive, and both were full of deep meaning. Great reaction, guys!

He designed the album to be sonically different so you can listen while you tackle different aspects of life. He also said that the lyrics are important to the album, so please watch the Indigo Album Magazine Film and Zack Sang's in-depth interview. His music spectrum is wide wide, look at the various genres and sounds of BTS' discography for which he is the chief contributer. He has been doing different kinds of music since his 1st mix tape, Joke, Throw Away, Monster... 2nd mix tape, Mono, remains a therapeutic favorite of many many of us. Just ask how many of us have Mono related tattoos

Yes - YouJeen has that "cry" in her voice like Alanis. She even fronts an alternative rock band. I have to admit to feeling a bit of a stab in my heart when you mentioned that DJ wasn't alive when Alanis was popular. Ouch, that hit home! I forget sometimes how old I really am. BTS makes me feel young! Love the album and your reaction!

With flowerwork RM wants to say that he doesn't want to be like fireworks that burn brightly in the sky at height but come down crashing to the ground turning into ashes. He wants to be like flowers that even if you toss them in the sky they'll still remain flowers after coming down and return to where they belong(ground/nature). Lyrics,"even before the beginning I imagined an end where i could smile and applaud". "I don't care about getting tossed in the air, grounded on my two feet...."

Oh man I am old. I was a teenage when Alanis was everywhere. Yes you are right Youjeen has that kind of vibe. She is a rock singer from Cherry Field, a Korean band from the 90's. Great choice doing the collab with her. As BTS and with their solo work they have the ability to write songs that stick with you from the first listening. Even if they have always profound lyrics, they are always so catchy. You feel like you have heard them before even if they come with fresh or innovative stuff. It is weird. They are so talented writing music and lyrics. The more you listen to INDIGO, the more you like it.

Flowerwork it's a clever playing with words to demonstrate RM's state of mind at a certain point of his life where he desires to be more himself and far from fame and media fireworks. Like a peaceful purple flower field, he wants to be more in his art field than in his public Persona that shackles him. 💜
Amazing reaction to this masterpiece guys. I cannot wait to have Indigo physical album at home. 😃

RM made up the word of "Flower work".
In Korean, Firework, we call that as "Fire flower(which indicates 'flame') play".
So this is a kind of Korean- English word play from RM!
He wanted and finally became a superstar. When he does a concert and everything people look up, RM feels like he become a "Flame" on the middle of the sky.
But after the shows, he comes back to a normal life, normal and humble boy who loves nature and bicycle.
He becomes a "wild flower" on the earth. A person who is standing on the ground firmly. (Not floated by vanity.)
He, of course, enjoys his "flaming life" but always aware of losing himself.
    Oh, one more!
Yoojin Cho is a rocker. She was really famous about 20 years ago. A rock band which name was "Cherry filter" leader. (th-cam.com/video/SeS8u9WG3d0/w-d-xo.html like this!)
RM wanted her voice since she has a sharp and rocking voice. Yoojin's voice really stabbed so nicely. I got a goosebump.
Really love this album. Love RM and also love you guys' reaction. Thanks! I really enjoyed all 4 videos!

BTS' music is exactly 💯 like this (to me) you can absorb it like how it contributes to life. I love them for that. In all my years I've never thought about what went into my ears/heart. Usually a western album may give you 1 or 2 good songs and the rest didn't never matter. I used to wonder why that was? I'm buying an album for 1 song because it wasn't a single. Why make an album of like 20 songs and only 1 or 2 would be hits LOL? RM makes his music matter in a way that I've changed my expectations from music and (I feel) so happy. Joon's albums rock! 💜 😊

You have to watch the magazine film on Bangtantv to get to know the behind meanings of each song. For the word fireworks and flowerworks isn't the same in korean language, he made this word based on his childhood and he's explaining it more in the video I mentioned before. For the cover, it represent each trach cause there is 10 jeans there, and for the painting, it is Yun's, a painter, whose the first trach named after, RM gets inspired by him a lot.

Love, Love your reaction on the album! it is indeed a different take and his growth in the music industry, and for the album cover, those are his jeans that he wears on the regular and he kept those for the contrast of the indigo in the denim with the wood of the stool and the painting in the cover is by the artist Yun Hyong-keun who the song Yun is based on!! again, thank you for the reaction 💜 ive been listening to indigo top to bottom constantly!!
firework in korean is bulkkotnori (literally fire flower) and he sees bts' succes as firework (similar to how jhope saw it as fire in arson)
and he wants to go from firework to a wildflower. because fireworks are beautiful and burn brightly but die out fast, but now he wants to become something more calm - a beauty that's not as flashy, but is longlasting (both alone and with bts in the future i think)
so kkot means flower, and he wants to go from bulkkot (firework) to dulkkot (wild flower). a lovely play on words that adds imagery to this transitional period namjoon (and bts) are going through.

  • @lex-ln3nu
    @lex-ln3nu ปีที่แล้ว +3

I was looking forward to the video! For Wild Flower, 'flower work' is a made-up concept that RM came up with from the comparison between something bright, loud, and beautiful but rather short-lived (a firework, like BTS) to something calmer that's still beautiful but has a far more settled vibe (like a wildflower, which bloom for a long time, and RM compared to what he'd like to be like). The firework/flowerwork wordplay is rooted in how the words are rather similar in Korean. Highly recommend checking out his interview with Zach Sang or the lyric translations from doolsetbangtan, which explain where he's coming from in the lyrics.

If anyone listened to his interviews, he stated what the cover album meant. The picture with lines is an art piece from Korean painter and artist Yun Hyong-keun, hence the song titled Yun with Erikah Badu. The stack of jeans are RM's jeans, his personal. To show the indigo color. And yes, my first thought too, it's similar to Alanis Morissette but Youjeen doesn't crack when she hits those notes.
Flower works is the calming of fireworks. Fireworks explodes and disintegrate while flower works, petals linger in the air and doesn't fall as fast.
Check out RM's interview, he explained everything. Glad to see you both back reacting. How apropos just in time for Rm's album!

The album cover features the artwork of Yun (artist who inspired track 1) before Yun discovered his signature style. So it symbolizes how this album is a record of his mid to late 20s, as he grows into his sound. Also why there’s no specific genre to this album, it’s just simply him and a record of his life.
Please read the lyrics too! That appreciation goes to the moon after you’ve read the lyrics.

You are most definitely not alone. I also heard/thought of Alanis immediately on Wild Flower because the angst and pain expressed by youjeen is haunting and very similar to how Alanis sounded on Jagged Little Pill. Youjeen was spot-on with her vocals in reflecting the rawness and truth that Namjoon/RM was sharing with us in his story. Thank you for reacting and listening to the album in order, as RM requested us to do. PS: I think the numbers on your jerseys represent your birth years.

YEAH! YOU'RE RIGHT ALANIS MORISSETTE OMG!, I KNEW THAT SHE REMINDED ME OF SOMEONE, IN FACT THIS YOUJEEN IS A ROCK ARTIST. BY THE WAY, THOSE JEANS AND EVEN THE STOOL ARE HIS.
YOU ALSO NEED TO LISTEN TO HIS MIXTAPE CALLED MONO, PREVIOUS TO THIS ALBUM, THAT WAS HIS FIRST MASTERPIECE. A CHILL OUT VIBE.

The best part of chapter 2 is how much we learn about our amazing artists through their music. And you missed a step. Looks like it's time to react to RM Mono.

Korean here 😁...hi from New Zealand. Flower work is not a particular Korean thing. We do have the phrase 꽃길만 걷다 means literally “to walk only on the flower path” but means “to pray for only good things to happen”. Maybe Nam-joon is referring to something similar but the video of him explaining how he developed each of his songs would give you a better perspective I think
