A lot of you guys keep mentioning private cheats. As I already said, that’s definitely the strongest form of cheating. Though, It’s expensive, if the source sells out it’ll crumble, if Riot manages to buy from them, etc. If the main way you can cheat is privately owned expensive cheats, we’re doing better than most other games.
Vanguard is far from perfect. Keep in mind the only main point is overtime vanguard is successfully reducing cheaters within our games. We still have a long way to go, and the battle will go on forever. This video took 4 months, tons of questions asked directly and a 4-5 hour discord call where I got in-depth technical guide - (some I wasn’t even allowed to show) of some pretty great systems.
Resources are high from Riot, we are talking about a billion dollar company still. If you guys have any questions please ask them below and perhaps I can get them answered by Riot for a cool future video!

Vanguard is not even close to good. Many cheating bans are still relies on manual, and without manual, people could walk away safely with blatants
I know this because I've seen a private interview and one of them talked about how out of the APAC leaderboard, 30% of them were alts related to boosting and cheats. This was made possible because there are no staffs monitoring on the HK server. Additionally there were 20k members in their cheating group. Some of them are known streamers in the region with 100k subscribers
Since this only has 3 comments, I'd love to give some input. The cat and mouse game between anticheat and cheaters will never end. It's a fact of life. No matter how deep it goes, some1 will and can cheat "freely" outside detection.
The real achievement of vanguard is how difficult it makes this. I wish it was talked more about, but imagine having a dedicated paid team of people *manually detecting cheats*. This would never be feasible in 99.9% of any game ever made. There's just too many, too much time invested, not worth the costs. Valorant has achieved something insane in being so hard to crack they can do this. Yes, there will be cheaters. Will they ever really affect any single person? Probably not in any meaningful way. I guess the costs justify the means for those very few cheaters who really stay undetected, but as long as it doesn't matter for the real gamers who cares? and Lan rules are even way more strict with this game lol

i got lvl 130 (saying bcs i cant tell how much hours) and only got a game ended once, and that was bcs one of my premades was running some escape from tarkov cheat that vanguard flagged

@@highkey190I don't know if this helps. But as far as i know, vanguard have access to your complete system and files in order to prevent cheaters. If microsoft gonna disable kernal acces to 3rd party softwares such as vanguard, there os gonna be 2 possibilities to happen. 1 being we won't be able to play valorant on those windows devices with kernal acces disable because valorant cant be run without proper vanguard function. Second one is riot maybe get forced to get rid of this strong anti cheat and make it less powerful and let players play.

@@peruchazhiusman4561 Or 3: Microsoft is now in charge and capable of securing all OS and its programs (including games) thanks to features like secure boot, TPM, HVCI, Microsoft Pluton security processors, etc . Game companies won't ever need to make their own AC eventually because Microsoft will take care of it and it will be more strong than Vanguard and any other AC.
imo they will do this to prevent viruses; big companies like themselves and riot games will get passes. otherwise it will completely destroy the functioning of many antivirus apps, and could even disturb the functioning of several games with anti cheats, including val. it'd make them lose a lot of money or cause controversy, which MS will most likely not want.

lol, you can't tell the diff between a legit cheater and a legit player. it's basically impossible. i know lots of people who are using colorbots in immortal for months at a time lol
A friend of mine is using a private cheat which basically disables vanguard and emulates it to give back the “ready” call to valorant and starts cheating (ESP,AIMBOT,TRIGGER). He is high Radiant now for like 6-7 Episodes and did not get banned

Kinda wild that Riot didn't implement some sort of digital signature on that "ready" call, I'm not aware of their underlying architecture but from the limited information you provided it sounds like a relatively simple cheat to detect and fix.
@@houssamalucad753 they do, but you could intercept it ig, if i had to guess how this works is a simple privkey/pubkey relation which will test if the client is actually initalized, also the game physically won't open if you don't have vangaurd running (and its impossible to spoof that, i can guarantee that)

Cheaters have an incentive to make the game seem less secure as regular players will start questioning vanguard's intrusiveness which can put pressure on riot to make it less intrusive, which cheaters benefit from.
I'm not saying to completely disregard any such comment but just take it with a grain of salt. Another cool pattern is that it's *never* the commenter whose cheating, it's always their "friend"
This is exactly why taking the developer's side of the story can be especially misleading at times. In fact you even point out that the viewers might 'think' that this is the side that Riot wants us to believe. There are methods for cheating, and/or bypassing anticheat that are not even talked about here during the video. Spoofing Vanguard's state of being active for Valorant (thus disabling it entirely, making your ban reliant on manual review); custom drivers for mice with colorbot/trigger (actually talked about here), other ways that aren't even talked about on public forums.
Social engineering can only get you so far for the cheater groups that are truly private.
It's overwhelmingly unlikely for closet cheaters with methods that don't directly interact with game memory to get banned as long as their cheats aren't public and out there somewhere. Four episodes straight I know a friend who climbs to high-radiant while cheating. There have been people in his game reporting him over and over again, sometimes even recognizing him from other games. I suppose the manual reviewer wasn't confident enough there.
But the sad part is, even 'basic', software-based memory accessing methods of cheating pass under the radar as long as they're not overly public or advertised. Spoofing also works, without having to 'pay a subscription', as you've put it, or buy physical cards. A lot of the forum posts shown here are also over 3-4 years old, and cheating is definitely not dead since then. I know people who've gotten banned for ragecheating, then just logging into a new account with a simple system restart without an issue. Worse, I know people who've hit immortal-radiant with extraordinarily high statistics (>2 kda, 80% winrate) using software-based cheats, for multiple episodes, and their account is still right there, searchable for anyone to see, unbanned.
I believe Riot is doing the best job that they can, and the best job that any anti-cheat maker has done before. In all probability, they remove and ban *by far* most cheats that they find and come across. The issue for them, then, are cheats and cheaters that are truly private, obfuscated, and don't care about sharing them around.
I'd wager it'd unfortunately be quite hard to distinguish a cracked player having a great day, from a closet-cheater in your games on Valorant. As that's the only working gameplan for cheaters nowadays (that don't want to get banned).
First comment that actually took time to explain their view. Appreciate that from you! - also you’re right, it’s not some unstoppable force. It’s why I mentioned it’s just a tool. But a lot of the work is proactive from developers part. There are still hidden cheaters and will likely always be. Statistically though, we have less cheaters and faster ban rate than before. But people will continue to slip by 100%. The more private and small circle the cheat is, the harder it is to find. But luckily, it also means there's less cheaters. Sometimes just 1 person with 1 private cheat.
I actually had a 4 hour call that dove into tons of what you mentioned. I may edit and release that separately. I had to try and strike a balance for this video which allows it to be approachable to the average viewer without diving too much into technical diagrams (and tons of document explanations) which were also provided
as a security researcher i play without vanguard cuz of the lack of privacy (its basically a kernel level trojan that we agree on putting)
I don't think blanket cheaters are what people are complaining about but ones that play normally that dont aim through walls xD

vanguard is not anymore effective than easy anticheat or any of these other anticheats, the reason for a lack of cheaters is due to vanguard being far more invasive and forcing you to enable various windows security features that do their job for them.
that is to say - if youre not flagged, vanguard wont force these features on you and youll be able to continue cheating. vanguard only enforces these on suspicious accounts.
i dont know what you heard because i didnt watch your video due to the fact every single video like this from yters talking about cheating is wildly misinformed because they have no first hand knowledge and can only continuously parrot what others say

in immo lobbies (hong kong apac severs specifically), you get SO MANY cheaters its absurd. when vct seoul happened even the pros called it out. i only recently hit immo (3-4 months ago) and the amount of hackers i get is crazy. in the past 2 weeks ive met around 20 cheaters already. legit rn i either dont want to play the game, forced to smurf with friends, or play on other servers with 80+ ping

I hate vanguard because once in a while it will not boot up with your PC and then riot's client will let you go into the loading phase but then kick you as you don't have anti-cheat active. And per way vanguard works you have to restart whole PC and until then you are AFK

a person working on stopping hackers is not the same person who works on the replay system. We have already gotten a video on the replay system, we know it is in the works , riot is taking the time to make the replay system good and usable for everyone.
If they rush it then you'll have a really broken replay system. When that happen people will start complain even more

Smurfing is a huge problem. It is absolutely bigger than the cheating problem and needs to be addressed. I am so frustrated with it that I am about to abandon playing Valorant altogether. With 250 other games currently in my games library installed, I don't need to play Valorant and could spend my time and dollars elsewhere. There are plenty of single player games that I could be playing where I don't have to deal with people ruining my experience. And the fix is simple. Account verification. If you can't have more than one account, then you can't smurf.
Vanguard may have banned tons of cheaters but they will never be able to do something against ones who know their shit 😂

@@lepetitpandaroux no it fucking isn't I play a bunch of games with community hosted servers and I have seen way less hackers. The solution is a services issue. If you have community hosted instances banlists can be made and mods can ban people. This is an issue of their own creation

I’ve cheated on Valorant before and spoofed many times. Last time I cheated was in 2022. I got tired of spoofing though, constantly reinstalling windows and having to reinstall other games I played was just not worth it. I’m a little confused on the TPM part you brought up because I haven’t been banned since the last time I spoofed, although I haven’t cheated since then either.

I really loved watching this video, I guess more than anything, is that there are more smurfs than cheaters, and at least that's for certain. It's crazy how difficult it is in lower elo in Asia servers(i'm assuming the same for other regions as well) at least in Silver and Gold. istg, these games are so much harder having a silver 1 get 40kills while everyone else gets around 15-20 kills compared to just full gold/plat games where it's more chill and scores are somewhat even. I can't imagine smurfing ever being beat in the short term, but hopeful in the future.

Vanguard is definitely one of the best anti-cheats for competitive gaming, I haven’t actually played the game much recently, but for all the time I had played it I ran into 2 cheaters. Both were blatant, one triggered vanguard while we were in the match, and the other one got banned a match after mine (I got the little report pop-up thing).
This Video couldnt be more bullshit.There were no cheaters in like ep5-6 and suddenly atleast every 4. game you get a cheater and its even worse now in ep 9 cause now i got like high chances to get 1 cheater in every single game. nope he is not smurfing if they start at the first round 5 a and continue doing it on every side we went. Atleast one thing is right in this video. That smurfing is also a Problem and there are more thne cheaters, but i still cant agree with you that riot is doing a great job. i dont think its that easy to make ur own cheats. There should be less people having a private cheat but somehow atleast every 3rd game there is a cheater on bad days there is one every game i play on this day. Not only one guy is cheating rarely its 2 and this is way too much in my eyes.
I couple of weeks ago, I ran into a cheater in ranked. Everyone reported him, but we didn't see a "cheater banned" screen until after the game.

Smurfs are the bigger problem. It was against ToS until ItzTimmy got banned on streamed for smurfing,. Riot couldn't have that, so they stopped caring about smurfs. Now Ranked is just a shit show.
I barely run into cheaters. Like others have said the problem is more about smurfs in the lower lobbies. I had a lot of trouble getting out of Silver back when I used to be one. It's less prominent in Plat and above but still present sometimes.

mad respect to the ones surveying cheaters and relaying info to riot to improve vanguard and honestly cheating is never not gonna be a problem as when cheats get better anti-cheats have to get better to compensate so there will never be a true winner in the war of cheats but we can definitely see a side that suppresses the other the most and as its seen clearly in vanguards case its riot thats suppressing the cheaters more unlike certain other games and their devs. honestly idrc abt smurfing as its a tough problem as imo its not really cheating but moreso annoying and riots best way of dealing with them is by making sure they quickly re-achieve their skill level in matchmaking, boosting is the same but on the other side of the same coin, with account sharing to boost riot could do a better job but as for playing together with a smurf in that sense boosting isnt exactly easy to stop other than the booster gets way more rr and moves outside of the rank range for them to play together as the boostee gets less rr for playing poorly. also on another note honestly my online presence isnt really all that notable so if anyone wants my data they can have it as i always make sure my important data is untraceable and mostly offline and honestly cus of that im fine even if they wanted to take my data cus it means im trading it for a gaming experience with a minimal number of cheaters, my example of this is that ive only ever experienced 2 red screens in my i think 2 years of playing valorant and if ive encountered more cheaters then damn they did a great job at hiding those cheats.
Last time i ran onto a cheater it actually annoyed me the match got canceled when I was about to win, even with cheats he was horrible lol

vanguard is good, but not that good. I regret to say - I was in the cheating community before for mostly skinchangers about 2 years ago and I can say I will never forget how painful vanguard made it for me. I’ve still been following gamerdoc on Twitter and the guy has added restrictions and features no cheat can really combat.
Vanguard has only one flaw and that’s that it’s a ring0 anticheat. It’s reaaalllyyyy invasive. But I guess that’s the measures cheaters want to go through as well, so it’s necessary :/

I started playing Valorant 6 months after it's launch, and the only cheater i encountered was in my team.
He didnt want anyone to notice, but he was soooo bad at hiding it.
When i was dead i was watching his pov and his crosshair behavior was obviously locking onto people here and there.

Its still hard to justify a kernel level anti cheat. Vanguard does other really annoying things like mess with my VPN and not allow me to split tunnel other apps while the client or game is open. Didnt have these problems before it and it definitely makes me play the game way less.

If the "winner" of the cheating war is one side or the other, the cheaters always win, there will ALWAYS be a cheater. You ban one, another will be right there.

I'm super glad that riot is trying to be proactive about cheaters but as someone who got back from vacation and was banned when I got back, their support is terrible and they've impacted so many players that aren't cheaters. Vanguard detects quite a few random things and I know people who have never cheated who got their account locked for using honest apps like overwolf or for no reason at all. Riot says that they can't be transparent with players because it compromises integrity but it impacts people like me who spend money on the game and then can't do anything to try and appeal for a crime they didn't commit. I really want to know from Riot themselves why there isn't any warning system or anything of the sort for people who aren't doing anything malicious and why it's so impossible for people to recover their accounts.
The big Lie is that Vanguard Anti-Cheat works, all bans are manual now as of 6 months ago, except for the public cheats that are easily added and detected.

As someone whos coding cheats as a hobby i also looked into bypassing anti cheats. I can say that bypassing some of them needs alot of knowledge (or money to buy a bp from someone). For League, vanguard nearly stopped all public scripts. There are still some online and they work. the anti-cheat is cringy and blocking people who aren't even cheaters. Also, once cheaters get blocked, they spoof their system and start a new account, becoming smurfers, which is even worse.

When I reached out to support again, they're asking for specific details like the first agent I unlocked, my first gun buddy, and the exact date and time I created my account.

vanguard keeps improving even cheaters keep improving, there may be a decline in cheaters due to the complexity and hard work required to spoof but the cheat developers are also not 9year olds they know what they are doing. As mentioned in the video about spoofers, its not true spoofers still work there are many private tpm bypassers which do work but gradually they get detected, tpm chips are currently the go to way to bypass tpm bans. There are many internal and external cheats still working
as long as vanguard can detect every shitty free and p2c thats better than any ac outside of leagues has ever done

now i dont have my account my email doesnt even exists didnt got any verification code they just changed my mail randomly now it says my there is no such account from that mail way to go riot

The definition of cheating is to gain an unfair advantage. A diamond playing in a silver lobby is an unfair advantage. So yes smurfing is cheating. However riot won't do anything about it cause it's one of there biggest money makers. Only way to fix it is what they did with premier that you have to link your phone number to play comp that will get rid of smurfing cause you can't just switch accounts. Will riot do it I hope but I doubt it cause it's all about money
I love vanguard. I have 4 game in my nearest 100 games cancel by it due to someone cheating. All ranked game that almost lost. It does its job extremely well
