Definitely one of the best quality recordings of a trombone ensemble I've heard, not only in terms of ensemble cohesion, but just recording quality in general. A lot of times ensembles of the same brass instrument are just hard to record. Would love to hear about the setup or to get the engineers info to email them!

Getting the intonation right on shorter notes is always tough, but add the flat 7 so perfectly... wow. Also the reverberation in the room would amplify any intonation errors, and there was nothing but perfection!

I, too, was struck by his achingly sweet sound. Normally, I most enjoy the bass sound of the trombone, but he really showed off the upper range of the trombone here. Such talent!

"Trombones? How is that going to fit this composition?"
But colour me surprised, I actually do love it.

I always wanted to play a brass instrument, sadly my parents couldn't afford one, or the tuition. Back in those days, just after WWII things weren't available in the way of loaned instruments, easy terms, or tuition in schools. I actually wanted to play the French horn. Now I just listen to great musicians on YT.
Stephen! Its never too late to begin to learn an instrument! You dont have to be professional, just for your own fun! And of course, keep listening nice brass music on YT and get inspired! One day maybe you will inspire others with your videos!

Its a good question, i think its because the 1st trombones range is not only in the high register, he plays also lower notes where the alto trombones sound dosn’t fit in the choir. And of course, if you can play it with tenor why you should change to alto?😁there are many pieces where we play alto trombone when its necessary. In this case it was not required.
