A voice that could raise the dead! Patti is a American national treasure, with a soulful sound of pain, joy and hope that could only be produced by the " unique history " of African Americans in the United States. She is one of the most underrated performers of the late 20th century. The fact that her voice, tone and control remains flawless after nearly 50 years of singing " full out " is a miracle. I can't think of any other vocalist who's voice has remained as pitch perfect as long as Ms. LaBelle's. God bless her and keep her delivering her vocal gift's to the world.
Stephen Hardy I don't disagree with your comment on that at all because she is a truly amazing singer who's voice has remained just as beautiful and maybe gotten better but for me ,Charlie Wilson comes to mind when thinking of who else's voice has remained so well over time

He then played me this aswell as Somebody loves you (live) and I never looked back ...like Whitney Patti doesnt play when it comes to Live Performances ...she just kills it everytime plus shes kept her voice for how many decades..
a woman of passion....a woman with a gift...and a woman who knows EXACTLY how to get under your skin and make you FEEL something. There are TONS of people on this Earth who know how to sing. Hell, I can sing.. But Patti LaBelle is one of those vocalists, who were LITERALLY born to sing...and you can tell those singers, apart from people like me who know how to hold a note. She HAS TO SING...look at her journey thru the music industry, and you'll see NUMEROUS times when she should have been out of the business for one reason or another. (poor marketing, lack of good album production, not priorotized by record labels, disco, hip hop, making a comeback in her freaking 40s, etc). But she just refused to STOP..and when you have a voice like this, that can make people applaud at the mere mention of your name, why the Hell should you stop singing. This woman has earned the title of "diva".
Why would God bless a person with a talent but then want them to hold back when using it? Patti Labelle is an original. She took the song and made it her own , which is what truly gifted artists are capable of. I'm sure the pruducers of the show knew what they were getting when they booked Patti Labelle. From the audiences reaction to her performance I would conclude all involved were pleased. Quit hatin'!!!

Patti was feeling herself. She is one of the goddesses of vocal and musical performance. Work, Miss Patti.
Chaz Michael 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣 she WAAASSS feeling herself lmao

More like feeling the presence of the most high the tears at the end killed me
I'm no longer a Christian I don't even believe in religion however I've listened to this song over and over and the spirit and the soul that she puts into this song it brings tears to my eyes and makes me feel good I love you Patti ❤😗❤
You don’t believe in religion? Singing about Jesus is not religion, they are singing about Jesus who is the truth and life, he will never let you walk alone.
I don't believe in religion any more either (male bullshit designed to subjugate) but spirit and joy is present every day if you seek it, this is what I feel in my bones now
@@hannahretel1073 The problem with people like you is you confuse religion with God and attribute all your negative assumptions about "religion" to God. The word religion is used
so casually now that it could mean any human beings' relation to anything they deem sacred worthy of mention etc. I've heard people say the beach with its ocean waves and relaxing sounds is my religion, good food/cooking is my religion etc. "male bullshit designed to subjugate", you make yourself sound like yet another angry lonely feminist. It's getting old/tired/prosaic.....yawn.....
The Lord will reveal Himself to you one more time before you leave here, He still loves you.
@@willmartinez5496 Amen people let life and other circumstances pull them away from the lord
The tone of her voice and the notes she hits during the intro are not from this world.
Yes it is
Aretha Franklin and Miss Patti are BOTH amazing, anointed singers!
I truly believe when Ms. Labelle stomped her foot at 2:17 it was to keep her soul in her body, she turned the Apollo into a tabernacle. ❤😂
The way she tipped out on to the stage was CLASSIC!!!
I remember watching this.when it came.on tv... it brought me to tears and i was just a kid... that was over 30 years ago and I still cry today!! AMAZING PERFORMANCE, indeed!!!⭐⭐⭐⭐
When you she came in with that BOOMING opening you know she was about kill and give life. God put an anointing on her vocal cords.
There is and will never be another Patti!
I have watched this video too many times to count. I love Patti LaBelle.
The piano player just knew Patti was about to cut up 😂
AirPods are not enough. I need Patti Labelle to personally bring me to Heaven
I mean. Come... On!!!! This performance from start to finish is.. FLAWLESS.
Aretha Queen of soul , Pattie Goddess of Soul!!!!!
Everyone was shook, the band, the choir, Al Greene, Mavis, Lil Richard and the audience, even the mic stand understood the assignment. I watched this when it originally aired, shook then and I'm still amazed
and shaken!!!
🤣🤣🤣 that mic stand did get right, right after his homie got snatched up like a bad ass 6 year old.
I have loved Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey forever being a 80s & 90s generation but remember my friend asking me in 1998 do I rate Patti I was like Who? He then played me this aswell as Somebody loves you (live) and I never looked back ...like Whitney Patti doesnt play when it comes to Live Performances ...she just kills it everytime plus shes kept her voice for how many decades..
baz1000 so true... what a testimony
baz1000
Everyone talking about Patti's voice, but her hair definitely matches up big bold and beautiful.
That's a hat 😂 it's made of hair.
a woman of passion....a woman with a gift...and a woman who knows EXACTLY how to get under your skin and make you FEEL something.
The look on billy Preston's face said it all. What a gift patti is to us all. Amazing voice
Amen
Billy Preston smile when Patti hits that first note off stage!
What I respect about Patti LaBelle is that she keeps her business where it belongs, both personal and professional. That's a lady!
Blessings.
2:10. That vocal run!!!!!!!!
Okaaaaay.. I keep rewinding it back to that point that give me chills
Now THIS is the church I want to belong to !!!
This performance gives me chills.
QUEEN OF VOICES IN MY BOOK!!!Outstanding!!!

The mohawk is high and mighty, the voice is powerful, the performance spectacular. She came for everything and got it! Patti is magnificent, tour-de-force!
UNDERRATED AND THE EPITOME OF SHOWMANSHIP IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. KUDOS AND THE MIDAS TOUCH!
Ms Patti La Belle is more than a singer in this planet. She gives all the energy and passion in to The Gospel on stage. She is the best performer I' ve ever known. God bless you, Ms Patti💚💚💚
