      First level is the local election: county mayors(representative of the county as a whole) and mayors (representative of individual towns, cityes...), you vote for party representatives.
      Second level is where you vote for the head of the country (Orban, Márkizai...)
      The final precentage of the votes comes from a combination of this two.

      It's not like the tv is a ground for gay propaganda. I have never ever seen a gay ad in my tv and i live in Greece, a "developed" nation. If Hungary, a conservative country with many backwards ideologies actually has more lgbtq+ ads in it's TV network, that would be a huge surprise. Can you also elaborate a bit more when you say "they just don't want their children to be sexualized so soon". Are you suggesting that the television can change the sexuality of someone? This law is 100% anti-LGBTQ+, it's restricting the right of certain individuals that belong in a bigger social group, to express themselves on tv.

    • @YellowGiraffeGal
      @YellowGiraffeGal 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I see how that may make sense for someone looking from the outside looking in.
      As a Hungarian, let me give a bit more context. Fidesz (the ruling party) is strongly conservative to a fault. It's not about sexualization, it is about old values, that are not just un-liberal, but also I guess you could say ancient. Hungary is running out of Hungarians, our population is dropping (as I guess is the case for most developing countries), and based on nationalist ideology mixed with catholic values, Fidesz is doing their absolute best to keep the population growing. This is a very-very small country, with less than 10 million people. In their heads, "western" values led us here, and they are obsessed with the idea that George Soros with a help from some conspiracy is doing his best to make sure that Europe becomes something like the US, where the now individual countries will just become states. Fidesz is promising that if we let Brussels tell us what to do, and we take in all the western values, we will lose our cultural essence. The whole thing is extremely nationalistic.
      For them, LGBT guys are "against the fabric of family", for obvious reasons. They want everyone to be "normal".

    The problem is gay people are now associated with quite radical ideas about gender. When I (a gay man) speak to my polish friends they often say they don’t care about people being gay just the political side of it. (Teaching in schools, people in Speedos walking down the street, drag kids) that sort of stuff. The Eu failed to realise that nations in Eastern Europe are much more conservative and religious then Western Europe, are values don’t always align.

    •  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This. The problem might be in that the radical ideas are the ones that are most visible in media and on the internet. I believe that a vast majority of people under the LGBT umbrella are normal people. But then there is a very "loud" radical minority that by their actions really disturb this perception. Even though I try to be rational about this, I still get scared when I read stories about what is happening at some universities in the US - trigger warnings, professors fired for having a different opinion, teaching that all white straight men are bad and so on. It is hard for me to evaluate how true these stories really are. But that doesn't erase the emotion.
