I like how in this series Shadow is NOT FUCKING AROUND. The dude is not pulling his punches and that's why he had easier time with Mecha. Sonic is also not really fucking around but Shadow is on his opponent's ass the entire fight using every advantage and every spare moment to combo the opponent or to boost himself. Of course that can also lead to some problems like GETTING BETWEEN MECHA AND BUFFED SCOURGE but that's how characterization works.
I also love the detail that the entire time also after Mario pulled out the cape power up, he still didn't take off his inhibitor rings, if he wanted to win he would have done It quick
