And while he did do good deeds, he didn’t necessarily do them out of the kindness of his heart, but for the motive of going to heaven. He was rather quick to leave everyone heartbroken at his death in exchange for eternal paradise, and one might take that as selfish. Ultimately I think the point is to be introspective on the motives for being good, such as doing it for a reward, to avoid punishment, or to do good out of genuine kindness.
