Looks nice and slick, Chris. Been following along with you building it... though not as often as I would have liked. Can't always catch your live stream. I'm doing something similar and making my own bspwm both on arch and debian (on two different machines). Really liking debian actually!

This is awesome! I’ve been waiting for this vid (as I prefer Debian over Arch). Don’t always get to watch the streams and I catch bits and pieces… last one I caught a little of, something wasn’t cooperating with you cause it couldn’t find the mirrors. Merry Christmas to y’all over here teaching and exploring Linux

Pretty cool project! I have been a Debian guy for many years. But even it installs a lot of stuff I would rather wasn't so integral that you lose the desktop to get rid of it. I look forward to a version of your project that is a little closer to my troubleshooting abilities. Merry Christmas!

Been using arch with material awesome for about a year now, its working fine. But in the beginning a lot of trials and doing plenty of backups when something crashed it..anyways, gonna try this one since agreed that debian is alot more stable.I was on it before arch but audio trouble landed me with pipewire and it just seemed to work better in arch(prob since debian 10 was used :D)
Anyways, great work titus! btw, love the method of having programs all starting up in a few dotfiles, thats gonna be useful.

    Merry Christmas Chris!
I'll be playing with Debian-titus in a VM. The whole window manager thing is intriguing, but have had issues with running Handbrake GUI with them. Thanks for the link to Debian testing, it's a PITA to find! I hope to switch to plain Arch or Debian soon. Manjaro is getting too heavy handed in their approach to Arch for even my basic understanding of linux.

I'm not too advanced in Linux but this was relatively easy to get set up and pretty nice to use as a daily OS I did read a few books on Linux and shell scripting a while back so I'm pretty comfortable with the command line and Vim/Vi etc.
(anybody who wants the books for some reason: The Linux command line and shell scripting bible & The Linux bible & the other is if you are into *ethical* hacking the kali pen-testing bible)

Right on! There is only one Debian, and nevermind the cute Toy Story Theme (theirs a true backstory of why that's a thing for Debian) but it's still my tried and true no matter how many times I've tried to run an Ubuntu distro in its place!
Edit* Nice work on your own sub-distro, for a while I loved peppermint, then I tried Sys76, but lately I've disregarded the theming given I usually run headless unless the project requires or benefits from a desktop, but like many I've been wanting to see the next successors to the latter two mentioned for desktop Deb based distros..

    Hi Chris
I've been a Debian based ubuntu user for more than 10 years, I've used almost all DEs, but I like the keyboard-driven control provided by WMs, so Now I'm using i3 over Xfce-Xubuntu for reduced complexity
But I'll give your setup and try on a VM and see if it's OK for my needs.
I tried arch, but it's not for me, not stable, updates take too much time and bandwidth, so Debian is awesome :)

I was trying to install this version of Linux in an old client hp pc that only has 8gb ssd. To get internet I would have to go to my router and plug ethernet cable directly to it. I was hoping to just use the wifi dongle that I have used with other linux distros in other computer in the past.

interesting, this is way over my head I'm more familiar with the desktop than a server. ideally, this would suit someone in your position

Bumped into something weird. When I log into the desktop the top status bar is there but the main pane is grey, and I can't run anything. Obviously I missed a step, or there was an error that I missed. I'm running this on Virtualbox currently. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
