    Thank you so much! Your video helped me make my birthday present for my dad.
    I didn’t cast 44 stitches since I am using a regular sized yarn, not a bulky one. I casted on 82 stitches instead and It fits perfectly for an adult head! I used a 7mm needle if anyone is wondering.

    This is the best knitting hat tutorial I've watched for beginners on TH-cam. Your instructions were clear, you showed the English and Continental method and there's even have a left-handed video. You take the time to explain why something is done. I want to learn to knit/crochet and will definitely watch your videos. Thank you so very much.

    i just finished mine only downfall is that doing only 44 stitches isnt enough for a regular adult sized head while using regular yarn size (not the thick yarn like shown in the video) so try and do atleast 55 to 60 stitches for a bigger opening for a head. no worries though. im gonna give it to my little sister.

    • @Bianca31415
      @Bianca31415 5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      If you have a larger head, go with around 60 stitches. I used a more bulky yarn with US size 11, 8mm. You might want to go more stitches with smaller yarn and needles. It took me just about a day, on and off for knitting. Probably could take 4 hours depending on your speed.

    As a crocheter, Norwegian purling was a great way to keep my stitches flowing smoothly since you don't change hand positions. Give it a try if you are getting discouraged with your speed. It takes some getting used to but I don't dread purling now. There are many videos on TH-cam about it.

    This was a wonderful way for me to relearn knitting! It's been 25 years. I made a hat in the Wool Ease Thick and Quick in Eggplant. The color is gorgeous! Like henna burgundy.
    I knit per your instructions but then found my favorite beanie and matched the height. I looked up decreases, here on TH-cam. I accidently picked up 2 extra stitches. I figured out how I did it.
    I divided 46 (including extra accidental stitch) by 4. Put stitch markers on the decrease and kept reducing in the same spot.
    I then reverted back to the original finishing method.
    It came out perfect!

    Thank you! I've been teaching myself to knit for a year but haven't moved past easy scarves. This morning I watched your video and now I'm halfway finished making the hat. Using large needles and bulky yarn is a great idea for a beginner (I was using fingerling and DK yarn!). I had a DUH moment when you said "bars are purls and V's are knit". Very helpful especially in the first and second rounds. I look forward to more easy knit projects!

    I'm so happy I found this video. I did have to redo my hat p and k stitches about 6 or 7 times before I was happy with how it looked. Once I finished the p and k stitches it was cake. Super easy once you get going. I did use the wool blend which was super easy to work with. I made my p and k stitches 12 since I have curly hair I wanted it to fit all of my hair. Super happy with it. Making some as gifts 🎁 now for Christmas 🎄.

      @zoeysabbatino8880 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jennysirisamphan9502 I would try measuring your head then casting in till it’s about and inch or 2 shorter then what your head measured at (cuz it will grow a bit and it stretches) if that makes any since. Also the number of stitches will change depending on the bulky ness of your yarn. Hope this helps!

    Very nice and easy pattern. I followed it using two strands of acrylic worsted weight yarn with the same size circular needles of the instructions. I made it bigger, a man's hat by casting on 48 stitches and gave it a final length of 10". I also extended the size of the 1x1 rib to 3" so that it could be turned upwards. My boyfriend loves it, he wears it all the time he goes out in the cold weather.

    I just finished this cap and it is really cool. I made a trial swatch and had to increase to 56 cast-on stitches for size 11 US needles. (I have a large head). Instead of the bulky yarn, I used three strands of worsted in some leftover colors: navy, gray, and a heather (gray, navy, black and pale blue). The cap knitted up easily on a rainy afternoon and early evening. It is easy, fast and flexible to make. Go for it.

    Thank you so much for your hat tutorial for beginners! I was so happy I finished my first hat ever. The casting part and the ability to control the very first round of knitting stitchers was quite difficult. But this tutorial was really amazing. Thank you soooo much for your teachings. I’m proud of my hat ❤😊

    I really enjoyed this tutorial. I was able to easily follow this pattern. However, I must not have paid attention to my work and when I laid it down to admire my ribbing I noticed a twist in the ribbing and I couldn't undo it. So the only thing I could do was take it all apart. But I figured that was a good learning curve for me so when I start again I will pay attention how the pattern is laying. Thank you for a great tutorial.

    Another excellent tutorial! Thank you.
    I know it is meant to be a super simple first knitting project, but still, I would never assemble so many stitches at once together. Even one row of k2tg would make the finish nicer and smoother - and less chance to break the yarn while pulling the stitches together.
    It would be super convenient for your international public to mention the needle size in mm. Thank you in advance!

    Amazing, just made my first ever hat after being intimidated for so many years!! 44 stitches wasn't enough for me - it turned out to be a toddler size - but I am using slightly weighted yarn (a bit smaller than shown in the video) and 8" in needles. However, it only took 2 days so I'm ready to make another and try again!
