    In 1993 as a 12-year old I wrote a letter to Mr. Eccelstone regarding the Australian GP moving from my home town of Adelaide to Melbourne, amid much conjecture. He personally replied to my letter with the upmost clarity and respect. The fact he gave time to fans while driving a now Billion dollar business is very admirable, If he only knew it was a pivotal point of my life that steered me toward being a Journalist, great interview TC. Brendan.

    Yeah good old Bernie he’s basically seen every era of F1, incredible. He’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but F1 would not exist if not for him I’m glad you did a Beyond The Grid with him. He is a Legend. I’m not his biggest fan but I appreciate what he’s accomplished. Thanks for everything you’ve done in Formula One Bernie Ecclestone. 🏎👍

    Why you keep asking about Senna in EVERY INTERVIEW, even with people who have few relations with his story? Didint asked about Carlos Pace, De Angelis, a lot of drivers who DROVE for Brabham, but always this Senna´s bs! Hope when you interview Eddie Irvine you dont spend half the interview asking about Senna and Suzuka 1993

    Tom Clarkson I would love to meet you face to face to tell you how amateurish and childish you are... Your Senna worship is actually cringeworthy.... Its like you miss being physical with him the way you ask the questions of everyone about Senna. What where there feelings when they met him like Senna was Jesus. Your absolute hatred for Nelson Piquet is what gets me... You are so blind and so blinkered... Your Interview with Gordon Murray he states NPK best allrounder he worked with and that includes the great Alain Prost and your boyfriend yet you focus on the Senna Test. You ask Jean Alesi about how Senna treated him after Phoenix 1990 and Alesi says Senna was not friendly but Nelson Piquet was amazing and you just skirt over it like its a non Event. Bernie Ecclestone says if he could choose any driver again it would be Piquet and then you focus on your fetish for Senna. Three true legends of F1 talk about Piquet for the great guy he was, the warm friendly easy going man. Not to mention a magic driver but you simply overlook that. For that reason alone your credibility is not high. Great concept beyond the Grid but you are the wrong person to conduct it. You irritate me... Glad you don't film it as I can imagine no one would watch unless you focussed on the guest. Watch the Frank Dernie Podcast and see what he says about Nelson. Watch the Alistair Caldwell Podcast and see what he says about Nelson.... Did Nelson ever drive another driver off the road, lie to the Press, act like a cry baby, Kick a fan (Senna 1991 when Mansell gave him a lift on slowdown lap at Silverstone) … Was Nelson ever a Prima Donna?????? Get some morals.... Nelson represented everything a F1 Driver of the 80's should be... Playboy yet not arrogant.... Didn't drink, smoke or act like a jerk.... Had the best Helmet design of all time... Drove the best looking car of all time the BT52..... Helped design tyre warmers, developed active suspension, made Pirelli competitive by himself in 1985 and was the reason BMW was able to win the title in 1983..... Yes yes I know people are gonna say I am biased to Piquet like Clark Kent is to Senna.... BS I am just stating the facts as the ultimate fan of a great human being that has never ever got the credit he deserves. Watch the 2017 Autosport Awards where NPK gets a life time achievement award and see the humility of a 65 year old great. Watch where he kneels on the floor before Frank Williams (deceitful sod) and THOMAS WATCH HUNGARY 1986 WHERE THE GREATEST OVERTAKE OF ALL TIME TOOK PLACE AND SEE WHO WAS WHO IN THE ZOO

      Thank you Keke.. That's what irks me is that Tom has a Senna hero worship and he assumes everyone else does. He thinks that if Senna was present everything else is irrelevant and that's unprofessional.

    • @nemorinoeso7581
      @nemorinoeso7581 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very true, I see Piquet as the driver to beat from 1980 to 1984. He was intelligent, quick and reliable, unfortunately his cars let him down quite regularly, especially in 1982 and 1984. Now noone is remembering the crash with Prost in Zandvoort in 1983. Prost made a mistake, slided into Nelson's car and they both retired giving a win and a championship chance to Arnoux. But there was no hatred, cold war or anything, they were both professionals and gentlemen. The good old days before Senna's cruelty destroyed sportsmanship in F1. Piquet is very underrated nowdays.

    • @michaelpashut1696
      @michaelpashut1696 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So True and that's what just Irks me so much. Other than the Nigel Roebuck's Peter Windsors and the Maurice Hamiltons in the Press everyone else saw Nelson as he was. A British Journalist Mike Doodson was the only one who said it as it was. Nikki Lauda was a close friend and rated him, Prost never had an issue and there was immense mutual respect. Denis Jenkinson rated NPK as amongst the very best. Syd Watkins, Jean Marie Balestre and Ken Tyrell legends of the Sport loved Nelson. Herbie Blash, Charlie Whting, Frank Dernie Patrick Head, Gordon Murray, Bernie Eccelstone. Alistair Caldwell listen, read, see what they have to say about the great man. Read a book by Di Spires who ran the Benneton motor home and she says Nelson was the nicest driver she worked with and yes she also worked with Ayrton and Elio at Lotus. There is no one that has a bad word to say about him unless there is a Agenda be it a Mansell or Senna Bias. Find me one time that NPK was dirty on track with another driver.... You wont he was clean and fair. Watch the Autosport awards of 2017 when he gets a life time achievement award. The man is humble. Watch any and I mean any interview on You Tube and see the jovial friendly humble team player. Watch any interview and tell me you see the same. I personally will make it my mission to defend in my opinion the most complete F1 Driver of all time and a great human being to boot.

    Bernie gets a lot of unfair criticism. He is an absolute legend who made F1 what it is today. Everyone involved in the sport in either a fan or staff capacity owes him so much. Despite what he says, I certainly will never ever forget him 🙌

    The London Business School should offer Bernie an honorary doctorate for outstanding contribution to international business, with a visiting professorship.
    Remember critics, this is the individual who built in the modern era, the global sport that is the Formula 1 Grand Prix.

    So many people judge Bernie based on things he said, but the point is that’s irrelevant as he never believed a thing he put out into public, it was all a device to achieve something. The only way you can really judge him is to look at what he *achieved*, which was more than anyone else could have done. Everyone who loves F1 owes Bernie a huge debt of gratitude.

    Smart, tough, devious, astute, clever, wheeling, strategic and wise - though many of those qualities have made Bernie enemies (fans and professionals alike) but he has also made others very happy, like me. If he'd not have done what he did with F1, we wouldn't have enjoyed it as we have. A brave, resolute, difficult, skilled, masterful and very worth listening to. Tom, thanks, nice one. Bernie, that was amazing to listen to.
