Cooked chicken can sometimes still have a slightly pink hue to it, it might have been cooked but maybe a good decision to not risk it since you didn't cook it yourself! Another 8.3 video Ed 😁
It looks like you ordered sweet and sour chicken balls, which are usually battered and come separate from the sauce. You can also usually get sweet and sour chicken, which is the batter-less chicken which comes in sauce. Fwiw, the chicken balls looked cooked fine.
Nothing wrong with the sweet and sour chicken balls. As others have said 2 different types. I would have eaten them as they are the ones i usually go for. Your loss as they are lush dipped in the sweet and sour sauce.
Also just on the beef from the final takeaway, it is actually relatively normal looking - for crispy beef it is fried in/with cornflour as opposed to a normal batter, hence the different/weirder look. Whenever you've had that sorta stuff before, the difference there is that 95% of the time it does come mixed with the sauce etc, but without the sauce will look similar to what you had in the video
Issue with reviews on delivery apps is that usually the only people bothered to leave a review are the ones who have had a bad experience. If a restaurant has been around for some time then it's probably fine.
Those chicken balls look fine - and exactly what I would expect. Was it a new order for you? This is my go to and always comes with a separate sweet and sour sauce. Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style is very different to chicken balls though.
Hey Ed, I think you were psyching yourself out there, the chicken all looked fine to me. Pepper spicy - oh dear, you need to increase your tolerance there 😂
In my opinion, the quality of takeaways has nosedived, particularly Chinese. At the same time, the cost has increased considerably. There was a time when boiled rice was included with a dish, with a 50p surcharge for fried rice. Now, fried rice is sold separately, for £3.
The beef in the last one looks like something Gordon Ramsey found in a dirty basement fridge in a badly run restaurant on Hell's Kitchen. But he'd proceed to flip out and throw it across the room while yelling at the staff.
Chicken balls looked fine, inside and out also the separate Sweet and Sour sauce is how it normally comes, you can dip them or just tip the sauce over the top. S&S chicken ‘Hong Kong style’ is battered pieces of chicken in sauce with veg. I do love soggy batter and floppy chips as well lol.
You Have such an Amazing Channel i have been watching since 10k Subs and i dont understand how you dont have more than you do Already. Keep up the good work Ed. All Love from Denmark ❤
keep it going, you have a good style, formule etc! your starting to make it into the youtube algorithm, and it seems like you deserve it, honestly. keep up the good work!
The beef from the 1 star place looks to be shredded beef, which comes in a batter and flour coating to make the outside crunchy. I don't get why people like that I find the dish lacks actual beef most of the time. Similar to Sweet and Sour Pork cantonese style more gelatine coating than pork.
I was guilty of watching and not being subscribed. But I changed that today and pushed the sub button. Keep up the good and funny work. Oh and the chicken balls looked fine.
I'm pretty sure they are bought in frozen. Which generally means reformed. That leads to being pre-cooked usually. So probably not raw just cheap mush. I might be wrong. 🤣
Fair play for trying these bro you should do 5 best rated takeaways next time and give us your opinion on them see if any of them are overhyped rather then under rated
Ahh Fortune River, I live round the corner. Noticed they’ve dumped some fridges or freezers right next to their premises (this was at least two weeks ago and they’re still there now) I thought they might be trying to improve but after watching this im praying its been shut down.
Can you do a meal deal video next. Like all the classics of boots, sainsburys, tesco, co-op but you have to get something interesting, not a ham no mayo, water and ready salted crisp, which I bet is your go to 😂
To be even more accurate with your ratings always note that most sides, sauces and some main stuff is probably bought frozen by the restaurants. Especially cheap takeaway restaurants use lots of convenience products made for gastronomy. Some restaurants don't even make anything fresh and just combine together frozen stuff in 20 ways to make 20 different dishes. It will taste good as the process of perfecting a product and its taste is a lengthy process for food techs. They of course want their products to be bought by as many restaurants as possible. If you want to know how deep this can go: you can order pre-fried and then frozen eggs sunny side up. Made for hotel breakfasts, just let defrost over night and heat in the pan or microwave. Similarly the prepared scrambled egg mix in a tetra pak.
Best takeaway is any place that the owner calls you boss, knows your order by your second visit and doesn't judge if you're a wee bit tipsy (but not a pain)
Watching this while eating my breakfast. Feeling very queasy!! Thanks for risking your life for us Ed, another banger of a video! PS I don’t know how you even tasted that last meal, it looked revolting!!
What human being doesn’t enjoy salt and chilli pepper chicken!??? Let alone what NORTHERNER doesn’t partake in the adoration of salt and chilli pepper chicken!??? I now rate you a 2.00 out of 5 now this has came to light
Most restaurants use pre-cooked water bath cooked chicken, it’s too high risk using raw chicken and very very hard to prove any specific example was properly cooked.
Me and my manager from work have ordered from a few of these places for our lunch breaks and have been relatively safe, weirdly had more issues from places inside kirkgate market food hall, namely curry places
3,99 for a burger and fries + water would be almost nothing Germany. That dish sets you back 6 bucks at McDonalds, and 8 at takeaways. At least... Yes, rigidity is a word. It is also used to describe the sturdyness of a car chassis. How does BBQ Chicken taste on pizza? The spring rolls look bought. I swear I have had those as well, and that in Germany. The beef looks worse than awful.
If they are from the same place I get spring rolls from, they are about £3 for 50, you just deep fry them from frozen, have a trip to a Chinese supermarket
Here's a free idea for you. Similar vein to this video, but you have someone else buy you 5 different takeaways of all different ratings but you don't know where they're from. You wont have the bias of knowing they're low rated and that in the past they've served undercooked food. Then you can try and see how close to their actual rating you rating is.
@@EdChapman23I live in the North too. £3.99 for burger and chips is almost too cheap. It's probably the type of burger that has foreskins and eye balls in large percentages.
Those chicken balls looked grim. It majorly annoys me when Chinese takeaways don't use the correct flour for their chicken balls so the batter ends up thick and stodgy. It's either cheaping out or incompetence and neither sits right with me considering the prices they charge.
Do you reckon that chicken was edible? Trying to push towards 50k subs if we can, so would appreciate you checking if you’re subscribed yet, cheers!
Check the temp, not the colour.
Cooked chicken can sometimes still have a slightly pink hue to it, it might have been cooked but maybe a good decision to not risk it since you didn't cook it yourself! Another 8.3 video Ed 😁
@KarlPilkington89 He didn't cook it himself, how is he supposed to check the temperature of a takeout meal?
that chicken was raw i dont blame you for not eating it
@@Vertical-sandwiches its delivery not straight off the hob that wouldnt work
I feel privileged witnessing a grown man’s first encounter with a chicken ball.
Weirdly, the deep fried chicken balls always look a bit pink, but they are safe. You can tell if it's actually raw, the texture is off.
I probably wouldnt eat that but being said, do u understand what the word raw means mate? Or do u just regurgitate info@@dirktheodale7066

Rookie chinese food mistake, done it myself before
If you want the sweet and sour chicken un sauce you have to ask for it as Cantonese style or Hong Kong style depends on the Chinese
Also just on the beef from the final takeaway, it is actually relatively normal looking - for crispy beef it is fried in/with cornflour as opposed to a normal batter, hence the different/weirder look. I’ve never eaten crispy beef in my life and don’t even eat meat and I knew what it was. I swear this guy is just wilfully obtuse.
we need more bad takeaway videos from this legend

Unfair on the fish and chips, as soon as you put them into a box and close the lid the steam makes both the fish batter and chips go soggy.
Those chicken balls look fine - and exactly what I would expect. Was it a new order for you? This is my go to and always comes with a separate sweet and sour sauce. Sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style is very different to chicken balls though.
