I had 1 exactly like this on the outside but with black interior and Keystone Classic Mags n a bumpin Pioneer super tuner 3 cassette player with a sub! Most beautiful car I ever owned. It had 10 coats of clear n I had all the molding taken off. Cargo coil shocks in the back so it was perfectly level, raised white letter Supreme 70's on the front n 60's on the back! If this didn't have brown interior I would swear this was mine! What a sporty n luxury car it was! Man I miss it!😞 I'll have 1 again. This would've been a great find, I wouldn't have had to do much!! Thanks for the video!!!❤😎🤙
You absolutely must keep the 8-track tape deck. I grew-up with that body style of Grandprix....while in the Army, many of my buddies wanted those Grand Prixs with T-tops...they were and still are gorgeous cars. Congrats!
A long time ago, I worked with this guy who had a '74 Grand Prix done up in black primer. He had painted 455 on the front fenders, but the sticker in the engine bay said, 400 Cu. In. Whatever the case may be, I took a ride with him one Saturday in that car, and the car was like a rocket! Dual exhaust, posi rear and the roar from that engine was out of this world.
It was the typical old car video....then the 8 track tape happened! Great authentic moment. Well done. Mine was the Pontiac 350 w/ 2 barrel carb. Not as nice as your's but it served me well. Paid $550 for it and put over 70,000 hard miles on it. Changed the oil and had the AC charged -- that was about it at 143,000 when I "traded it in" on a used Trans AM.
Pontiac did the B-Body better than anyone else at GM, and blew away everyone in the 70's on styling. Look at it from 1:47 and tell me that isn't the sexiest ride you could buy in our Bicentennial year! Hell, this is better looking than a '76 Ferrari 308 GTB Vetroresina! Dammit, I miss Pontiac!
Learned to drive in one of those. Front seat bracket was broken and I ended up running it lightly into a ditch. My dad was like get it back on the road and lets go. Lots of memories from this video
My first car in high school was a 76 Grand Prix, maroon with half white vinyl top with t-tops. White interior with bucket seats. Lots of cool times cruising around the Hill.
My first car as a licenced driver was a 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was baby blue on the exterior, had a crushed blue velour interior. and was a monster of a car. The trunk was so big that I could fit three people in there--plus a full-sized spare. I would like to romanticize it a bit more, but this was in 1982 and it was merely my daily driver. I bought the car from my dad's girlfriend at the time, and it cost me $1000. It had a radio with a built-in factory 8-track tape player that would blow the minds of today's young car owners, and the engine when working properly had all kinds of power. In fact, I used to take it drifting on dirt side roads, and the car was so long that when I lost control of a drift and she spun around in a 180, both front and rear bumpers used to hang over the edge of the road on both side until I regained control. I do not recall it having any rust, but the 4.9 litre V8 was temperamental and seemed to be in endless need of work to keep it running properly. My other issue with this boat of a car was the doors. Compared to modern cars the doors on my Grand Prix were massive and quite heavy. I eventually started having problems with the door hinges. On the driver's side, the door would droop on the hinges when opened and I would have to lift the door as I closed it to close it properly, so I had to leave it closed. My passenger door, on the other hand, did not droop when opened, but the entire latching mechanism was a broken mess. So what I had to do was climb in on the passenger side, close the door, tie it off with Bungie cords to keep it closed, then manipulate myself over the tranny hump and shifter, then fall into the driver's seat. I do not recall sweating about the cost of gas to feed my Grand Prix, but this was 1982, and gas was $1.22 an imperial gallon, or 29.6 cents per litre. This car also used a bumper jack in order to change a tire, and while these types of jack worked great, you had to make sure you were on perfectly level ground or the car would tip right off the jack. One never forgets their first car, and I will never forget my Grand Prix, but I do not think that I would want it back today.
My parents bought a 76 Pontiac Grand Prix brand new with a 455 black on black, 8 track tape, my dad asked the dealer to put honeycomb rims on. Absolutely loved that car. My parents split up a few years later and mom traded the Grand Prix for a Mazda 323 lol
I had a 76 SJ I ordered. Firethorn red with vinyl roof. Velour bucket seats with console and pretty much loaded. Wish I still had it cause I loved that car. My very favorite.
I also had the 76 SJ Fire red, with the 400 half white vinyl top with the factory sun roof with those big white velour bucket seats Nice car untillI plowed it into dead end embankment me and girlfriend had to come out thru the sunroof
Love this car!! I had a 73 SJ...Bucket seats, electric windows, car seats, cruise control...Mine had honeycomb rims though with BF Goodrich tires.. looked just like that one except for interior. Mine had vinyl seats and it wasn't on the column.
It's my baby.. Mine is an SJ. Black interior. I have low profile 60 Series tires all around. The car never see's the snow. I've owned it since 1987, had 60,000 miles on it. Now has 121,000 miles and still runs like new. It's a shame they don't make Pontiac anymore.
Neighbor had one of these when I was a kid carpooled in it. Bright met blue white interior, loved that thing .What awesome styling it had , Miss those old R12 systems. When you hear guys say they blew ice cold they really did! TOdays ac blowers may punp more air but nowhere near as cold.
All Grand Prix models 73-76 that came equipped with a Turbo 400 transmission, even the 1977 with the 301. But in 1977 when bought in California or high altitude areas that had California emissions would have an Oldsmobile or Chevy 350 or Olds 403. Those cars came with the Turbo 350.
Had one with red bucket seats and a CONSOLE LJ SJ OPTIONS RED BUCKET SEATS CONSOLE 455 CAME WITH THE SJ OPTION BUT the 76 was a dog with all the Emmissions on the engine it was a giat exhaust but it didn't matter with the huge catalytic converter still loved it also had a 70 SJ black leather guts buckets and that one hauled higher compression before those I had a 73 SJ with red cloth buckets was pretty fast too.. always beat my buddy in his 73 and 74 Grand AMs those were the days
These cars have an stunningly cool vibe similar to the Boattail Riv. They're like a sportier version of a Cadillac. Be nice to find a roller w a clean body and slap an LS w insane HP & all new drive train in it, aluminum radiator, slightly lower it, upgrade the suspension, trick out the interior w some plush pleated leather seats and diamond stiched panels etc - replace the clock w a tac, add custom wheels (wider rears) and top it off w nice paint w pearls in it.
Beautiful car I had a 1977 Grand Prix looked exactly like yours these cars are very very fast people just don’t understand it gets extremely fast And my stepfather had a 455 in his with a four barrel Carburetor and delete muffler that car was so loud it would set off car alarms I love these cars 1976 and 77 I love Pontiac everything they make the Firebird Trans Am and Firebird LOL the pills are working I am warm and fuzzy right now LOL LOL great video
What a clean car the only issue I see is someone screwed the black stripe on the front bumper on when it's supposed to look like that back on but other then that is really clean and I have that same 8 track I got part one and two on 8 Track lol!
Did I see shag carpet on the floor? LOL.. :-) Those were sharp cars, back when I was 20, I used to work with somebody who had a mid 1970s white Grand Prix ( I think a 1975) with a tan or light brown vinyl top. The car in the video looked like it was loaded, with a lot of luxury features (Including the 8 track player.. LOL.) it was alsp loaded under the hood.. with a lot of emission controls. If the low compression V8 wasn't bad enough the additional emission controls they had back then didn't help. About the only good thing those cars had going for them was their quiet ride.
Lol no one barley talks about these cars i know some one with 2 gt ones they dont even talk bout them t only when he asked me to buy one 😂😂 so underrated cars looks gangters asf and these cars are faster then people think
Unless someone switched the engine the biggest v8 offered at this point from Pontiac was there 400. Still gorgeous and when my father saw it reminded him of his when he got married. My dads was maroon with buckets tho
@@WisdomOverWicked777Rules thank you for catching my mistake, I read the year wrong. You are correct some did come with a 455 in 76, it was sadly the last year for that amazing motor.
And the 8 track still works!!! She's a beauty although why Pontiac would put a giant clock in the dash instead of a tach makes you scratch your head I mean who cares what time it is when you're cruising in a machine like this
I had a 76 Grand LeMans. Same dash as the Grand Prix. You could get the tach we're the clock is. If you got the tach, they placed a small clock in front of the console. My car had the factory AM-FM 8 track. A/C , Adjusting steering wheel, Rally wheels and gauges. 350 2 barrel. No power windows. Loved that car. Should have kept it. Pontiac, made the best looking car's.
PURE ART .. Owned a 79 and a 80 .. GREAT CARS ! GM Needs to Resurrect this Great American Auto .. The Chevys are so boxy and Boring .. how about both a Trans Am or Grand Prix .. Dodge did it with the Challenger .. and look at the Results off the page .. Come on GM .. we are waiting ! We need this Sexy Car back and Pontiac Back !
This automobile must be reproduced Damn It! The cars these days look awful. This is beautiful. I said it once I'll say it again, reproduce the 1976 Pontiac Grand Prix With that LJ 455 cu in engine.
Liked this Grand Prix soo much I purchased it from RON on April 17, 2019. It's a great car !!
Let's see a vid from the new Owner.
what size tires?
You lucky Sumbih
Lucky man. That's a sexy time machine!
Les Day I had one 76 LJ red on red with a 400. Man I miss that car. Good luck!!!!
Owned 73 and 75, both were screamers and I would love to have them today.
Absolutely wow! GM had so many home runs so many number 1 hits .. speechless

my '77 Cadillac still has hers, with a Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon cart that came in it. been picking them up to play in her
One of my all-time favorite cars.Grand Prix rocks!!!
Grand Prix has always been a favorite of mine! I had a 1967 and a 1975. Loved them both! This is a nice looking 1976!
A long time ago, I worked with this guy who had a '74 Grand Prix done up in black primer. He had painted 455 on the front fenders, but the sticker in the engine bay said, 400 Cu. In. This may be the coolest car built in North America in 1976.
I had two of these, one in high school ('86-88), then college/post-grad ('90-'93). Loved 'em!

Very nice ride sir! I sure do miss my '77 Grand Prix!
Oh man that is such a beautiful car! My neighbour had a yellow one with a 350. 76/77 such mint models
👍awesome... had a 76 SJ 400 / with buckets and console back in high school In 87 . miss it!!
76 was a good year that's a sharp looking car.
That's a beauty. I have a 76 Monty Carlo. Which is also a great car. 😊😊
They were sweet cars a close friend of mine had one. It was fun to drive

Gotta love the 8 track! That's a pretty dude car man!
I got an 8 track tape player new, bought it for an uncle but he took ill and passed so i just have it stored away.
Sad, last year of the big block engine in a Grand prix. In 1977 they went with the 301 two barrel that had no power.
Some had 400s
some had 350s. Mine did

Awesome looking car.......sounds good tooo
Ahh. Good times Grand Prix. Love that 8 track.
I loved cruising in our 76 Grand Prix.. It was a great ride. Very strong transmission. 😋
350 OR 400 GM Turbo transmissions. Likely the 400 in this car with that 455.
Love the Beatles Wish I could be in the 70s to drive that car
I miss my 76 sj model with the bucket seats and middle console! Great car!
Nice looking old Pontiac. The only thing missing is bucket seats and a console.
What size tires are you running 255’s
Man o man, that's the sweetest and the sharpest '76 GP I've ever seen!
Beautiful ride !
Nice car. You need to kick down that idle, though.
Beautiful car, drove one very similar to this a few times.Love this car!!
I have always liked that dash layout!
Love this car. Awesome!

Wow! The 8-track still works.

Nice car! It’s hard to find those with a factory tach though.
Is it for sale
How much you want for it?
I had friend who finally got one .man i. Thought the prix was a good car to do anything fun and just to look at .well built car .
Man that started so easy. My 89 town car and 02 lesabre don’t even start that easy.

I owned a mint 76 golden anniversary edition. Best car of the 20 I’ve owned. Kicking myself for selling it.
What condition was it in and how much did you get?
Wow thats great i had almost same car when i was 18 paid 2300 for it what did you pay for it
lmao the intro was good
Beautiful!!!!!!!!
did i see a nox tank under the hood?
I use to a 1977 Grand Prix si with de top color gold
my 1st car was a 76 grand prix LJ 455 in royal lime
Very nice.👍
Nice grand prix very nice

I had the same car baby blue white interior 455 mint condition
a mid- year car. Early rear window mouldings, but new refrigerant control.
i take that back. its an early car- early moldings and early refrigerant.
