I just found you and I have only watched three of your videos and I have learned more about color from you than I did when I went to beauty school in 1995. Thank you girl. You’re my new favorite 🤩
Britnee you do a fabulous job explaining tone and color and how to tone , for the first time in 25 years I finally understand why my hair never tones to the color I want or expect ,
I needed to laugh this morning you sound like me when i did hair. I think the ash colors have changed through the years. I use the same formula for 10 years and all of the sudden my hair started only lifting warm like yours did.
I just found this video and I have to say I learned so much in this video than I have in a lot of other channels. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Greetings, I’m a little lighter than your base but use Goldwell Topchic 12BM with Goldwell Blonding Creme I use 20 volume developer….After years of going to a salon for highlights, I realize that bleach is the problem if you want healthy hair! I think the high lift ash tones deposit more than lift so I think if you would have purchased a neutral or beige color, you might have been happier with the outcome… I love your channel and your dog is so adorable!
I had the same issue with ion high lift cool blonde. It always pulls full on strawberry blonde. I love the idea of high lifts, but after two separate attempts to work with it, I'll stick with regular ultra light blonde dye.
Sorry this is so late of a reply, but I was just wondering if ultra light blonde dye IS high lift? i've been wondering that for awhile. Hope you can answer my question. xxoo
Hola, I binged on your color/toner content last week. As a result, I was able to color and tone my hair at home. Everytime I went to the salon, I left with an ok baylage/babylights but never what I “ideally” wanted. The highlights turned gold pretty quickly which meant a return to the salon for a toning session. Purple shampoo and conditioner never really did anything. Anyhow, following your guides I got 80% to what I wanted mixing 7NN with 7WR on the roots and then toning. Also followed your shadow technique. Thank you
Another awesome tutorial Brittnee. You explain things in a way that makes so much sense. And your pooch 🐕 is so dang cute! Thank you for such informative and funny videos. 💕
Good morning. Im assuming your roots are a couple weeks out? I’ve read that Gwen Stefani’s hairdresser uses a high lift blonde on her roots every 5-7 days. I could see how that works. After years of bleaching my hair I think it gets harder to lift it the longer it grows out. I’m wondering how other people think out this?
I think you’re correct. I’ve always bleached my hair and touched it up at home. I do still like to wait at least a few months in between touch ups because it’s healthier for my hair but over the years I found that if I let my regrowth get longer than an inch; it doesn’t lift the same or as evenly. It’s almost always brassier too and when that starts growing out it will show a line of demarcation.
I was never happy with the warmth of highlife blonde + double 40 volume. Now I use cream bleach with 10 volume on my regrowth and then tone it. If anything, I find it is less damaging than high lift color + 40 volume. I have to leave the cream lightener + 10 volume on my regrowth for 50 minutes (in your video you allowed 15 minutes of processing time). I lift from a level 6 to a 10, then tone it with a 9V. You are right / high lift colors don’t really give clean blonde on most people. For many years, I had great results with high lift blonde giving me platinum hair, but about 5? years ago, they just stopped working for me.
"You are a great teacher!" I've bleached my hair for the 1st time after dyeing my hair violet black for more then 10 yrs. It's been a voyage. NOT A JOURNEY! Thank God for people like you & others that give us some examples on how to bleach our hair. I did a bleach wash 2 weeks ago, then a week after did the bleach . All of this w/ a Sally Consultant who actually now they do virtual chat w/ you. So they have helped, however ,I'm glad I watched you first because you gave me the foundation on what to expect. "Thanks again." My long range goal is to have platinum/Ash color .
Another excellent tutorial, Brittnee. I like the fact that you used products from Sally's, something that is affordable and available even up here in Canada. P.S. I loved seeing the Doctor throughout your video!
Love how you make it simple and you h just go for it . Like it’s not scary , it’s just hair . Experiment, have fun with it . It’s not that serious 🥰 Love your videos ❤️
I am so so grateful for ALL of your videos I learn so much from them. Thank you!♥ I will glad if you recommend some different brands that you like because in my country are not sale brands such Salon Care or Pravana. Thanks again! 😍
Love the dark mohawk I'm right here with you !! My roots are 4 to 6' in some places .. ( wish we could add pix !!) But mine is still alot more fluffy' at ends, which is why I'm getting it chopped off on Tuesday! Fresh new short hair for this 46 yr old lol and honestly I'm already wanting it to grow back ! But gotta get rid of these ends!! And y not go all in with a blunt bob with front framing layers idk somthing like that lol
Thank you for all the education! Do you have tips when applying a base cover and highlight foils at the same time? I am worried the colors will mix. But loved the result when my former colorist did this by just alternating a foil row with a base color row. Thanks!!
The Doctor reminds me of Dobby, lol. He's a hoot! Still slowly easing my way from a reddish medium blonde towards a light beige blonde. Taking my time, only bumping up a bit each time, then taking a few weeks in between. Hell, I'm working from home so who cares, lol. Just don't want straw for hair. This has me wondering whether just going balls deep with the cream lightener and toning might be better. Wouldn't a wella toner like a beige blonde work after the bleach? You mentioned a green toner but I have seen you put a wella t18 over light blonde with the yellow or orange tone, didn't I? Been so many videos now I can't remember, lol!
Omg I love your little supervisor 💕💕 He's the cutest ugly dog evvverrr! You should color the Mohawk pink or blue on him/her. Just a safe color. But for real he's adorable.
Thank you! That helped me so much. I know any time I have a hair question- you've got the answers for me, with the cutest funniest personality mixed in 😆 Bless You Chick 💜
Great thank you for the demonstration, your dog is adorable watching all the ingredients! Would you say the Antioxidant Post-Shampoos are necessary after a color service? Are there any shampoos we should avoid to prolong the color and toner? Does the sun remove toner? Is a shower filter helpful in preserving color if we live in an area with hard water or other additives? :)
I actually just got some purple balayage in my virgin dark brown hair yesterday, and my hairdresser used hi lift bc I wasn’t going for a super bright purple and I wanted to avoid the potential damage from bleach. I love it, but if I end up wanting it brighter, she’ll go back in with bleach and hit the purple again
Can you use high lift colors on fully faded previous demi colored hair? I know the results will be different for my virgin roots but my lightened faded processed hair is lighter than my roots so will the high lift color still lighten the already faded/lightened hair?
If i have high lifted it once but it didnt lift as much as I wanted to, can I go over it again with high lift again or will that break the hair? My hair is not virgin since I used high lift once on it.
The color I want can only find on Amazon for loreal hicolor but oh gosh they shipped late and I had to buy bleach because I waited too long. Sadly I can't just find lighters off the shelf, finding bleach also is hard to find. We don't have Sally's here. Only way is to get products from online and can be expensive if it's from overseas
Hi Brittnee, I love your videos! Your explanations are super understandable, thank you so much! I have a question about high lift…I used a box high lift blonde it up but used a wrong one for darker hair and ended up with a very orange yello colour. My nl I think is 7-8 and the hair is very fine, so it lifts super easy. Then after I got the orange-yellow result I used semi permanent purple toner and mixed it with another semi permanent toner in a blonde shade, very mild and ended up with rose and purple hair. Then I did 2 vit C masks to remove the toner in order to use a permanent toner, I debated a lot and decided to go with t14 and 20 vol. I had to do it twice as the first time I left it for 10 min and there was almost no difference, the second time I did the same and also left it for 10 min. Right now I am l9 and it still looks yellow and darker a tiny bit (because of t14, which I expected) depending on the light it still sometimes looks very yellow. The air feels a bit dry but other than that it’s soft and after the conditioner and looks healthy. I cut my hair to pixie before my hair colouring experiments, otherwise I don’t think I would try, ahah. I would want to get to l10 and, like t18. I researched a lot and could not find much information about fixing my high lift colour, What would you recommend? Thank you so much!:)
I don’t understand why it is so difficult for a hairstylist to get my hair to your color. I am always left more yellow than silver platinum & it’s frustrating. Also, I hate that my hair dries out so much and I can’t seem to find a great conditioner to help bring life back to my hair after treatment. Is there something I should be saying when I get it done, that perhaps it’s being missed?
What is your natural hair color and is it already very processed? Some people who have naturally super dark hair can only get it to a certain level. For example; thick, coarse, Asian hair is very hard to get rid past the orange/yellow state
Also, there are hairdressers who do it all, but there are also just colorists. I’d suggest going to a colorist who would have more experience and knowledge. As far as bringing your hair back to life….unfortunately you physically can’t. You can make it look and feel better, but once hair is dead, that’s how it stays until you chop it off. What you can definitely try are bond builders though, I personally use Xmondo’s Recalibrate leave in cream, as well as the Recalibrate treatment. But honestly, any bond building products from any brands you trust are great
@@Carolynnie Thanks for the input! I know my hair can get that color b/c I had only one stylist do it. She actually got the color right. But I can’t find her anymore, so I have had to work to find another stylist that can cut/color the way I like it and it’s nearly impossible. The color still is the big issue. I am always left more yellow blonde than platinum white.
@@Freetheebees Look at your local stylists before and after work they have done. They should give you a consultation, look at your hair and advise you on what they can do each session. I agree with incorporating a bond builder. There are many out there. Also you can consider looking into heavier hair products like some that is meant for textured hair. Also layering products to help seal in moisture. You might need to double up after a mask or conditioner with a leave in and a cream and/or oil. Depending on how often you wash it is a good idea to refresh in between with more leave in. Don’t forget to clarify on occasion.
I wish i would have caught this before I got sold the ion high lift color at Sally's. I went in for the bright white bleach and they suggested this instead. It somehow took my very ashy, dark blonde hair and made it pale orange, which has NEVER happened. Unsure of how to correct it...do i have to use a color remover, a toner or can i just bleach it again? Thankfully my hair is still healthy and has zero breakage 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ Your videos are FANTASTIC!
I full on turned a woman's hair green once doing this..... i wanted to cry... Well not full on but greenyish. It was schwartzkopf i was terrified of the brand for years after. I used to be a hairdresser not sure how much it has changed back even then we were using high lift colours for platinum blondes but the only thing was i found them really unpredictable ... to many variables ...how fine the hair was the undertone ..obv the level but you have that with bleach etc.
Thank you for your tutorials! So informative and funny! I’ve got white streaks in my hair (natural). Love hi lift ion blondes but I’m guessing they’re porous as they turned lilac. :/ I’m doing your bleach bath to break up color and blend my gray.
I really liked your hair before you started this video. My hair color is very similar, but I’m having a hard time getting all the yellow/orange out. I have darker roots and love the dimension but I REALLY want that white blonde you’re rocking there. And I work at Sally’s 😂 Can you give me a how to on that or did you already do one?
Love your channel! I ordered a human hair wig but it is too black. I would like ut to be just a lil shade lighter. I tried using box dye to do so but got no results. What do you suggest ? Can I just use a 20 percent developer alone on it for a few minutes? Will this help to make a slight difference ?
Love your videos and vibe 😸🖤 I was wondering if you have any recommendations for someone who has always bleached their hair & has now started having allergic reactions most of the times they try to do their roots. Are there any reasons why this is happening or a specific brand to use instead that you know of? I don’t want to have dark hair 😕
Thank you for *all* your videos! They are always so to the point, spot on, and you're always absolutely hilarious. *I have learned so much from you!* Question: I'm needing to do my roots (bleach/tone) and I have a Pixie. My back and sides are cut down real short - 1/2" to 1+" or so. Top is about 3" - 4". How on earth do I do the regrowth without overlap, with such little length?
i have been using highlift and i'm a natural dark blonde4/ light brown i am wondering if i could use a regular blonde like golden blonde and use 20 volume for less damage
Does a High Lift always come paired with a toner? I had my haur done a few years ago and the stylist tried this method, new to me, on my virgin hair. I was also going for a very ashy blonde and had paid about $280. When he was done he said he wasnt able to finish in the time allotted because when his wife took my message she didnt convey how light i wanted my hair in the notes. After 3 .5 hrs in the chair ( w/ a haircut ) i was sent home looking like i had just bleached my hair and nothing else. He told me if he wouod of had time he would of finished it up with a proper toner... he wanted me to understand that he didnt DO bad work. It was all to blame on the appointment time that was scheduled... and that he had a customer coming in after me he had already pushed back 30 min. Im still pretty upset about that. Lol. He could of had me come back to finish the job for the price i was given. From dark ash blond ( w/ orange under tones ) to light ash blonde. So i have been doing my own hair but havnt found a set routine. I wondered about trying a high lift on my roots. Im about a level 5. So i think i could high lift then if needed bleach lighter before toning. I thought he just used the high lift like a bleach - w/o color or toner... is that possible ?
Thank you for all of your videos these have helped me sooooo much!!! But first your doggie tho lol!!! Omg.... he's sooo flippin cute!!! Thank you for educating us and helping us do this on our own without spending $200 $300 dollars!!! Your a blessing doll!!! And as always.... Loves your service!!!
Stupid question maybe, but can you use highlift on pre-lightened hair? Like, maybe just using bleach to lift 3 levels or so, and then use high lift? Or is too damaging
@nmc1859 Hey I actually tried it and it works 😂 no damage at all!! And I've been doing my roots that way since then. I use Ion oil bleach on my roots, then igora highlift with 20 vol, it leaves a pretty blonde
What if it’s a special color? Like a honey blonde. Do I do a lightener with 10v then go over with color, then tone? Or do I just look for high lift color with 40v then tone? I’m a total newbie. 😅
Hey Brittnee I use the exact same bleach from Sally's in the tube. Love it, does the job without eating your hair lol. I have a question though. I have incredibly rude, stubborn grey hair on my sideburns and around my face. The face ones cover with my base colours I've tried dark, light colour putting the 20 vol developer first nothing will cover these ass&_les lol To the point that I basically point cut them right down. However, is there something you can suggest or am I cursed with these weirdo Grey's lol ❤️❤️❤️
Me toooo! They are like wire! They stick out like your a wire haired dachshund when you try to make a smooth ponytail! There is nothing that keeps them down! I used to cut mine off all the way to my skin but I stopped because it kinda looked stupid! Going grey is bad enough without having to deal with wire hair!!!
I used high lift color but my root touch up ended up in a strawberry blond which I dont want can I use now bleach to lighten my roots?? Or is it dangerous for my roots??
Hi Brittnee! Thanks for this! Im just transitioning back from 3 years of henna to hair dye. I put bleach on my deep red hair and it lifted to a bright 8 yellowish colour. I expected worse so Im fine for now. Question: do you think there is a toner that could fight the yellow/orange at a level 8 hair? My goal would be a level 6 ashy brown. Would you have any advice for me approaching that goal?
Can’t believe Doctor is sitting there acting interested lol my dogs would haul ass sneezing smelling that. 😂 I have a question though… you said you can’t hi lift over previously colored hair, but you put the color over your shadowed roots?
LOL!!! you technically can but it won't work as well as bleach, it will lift maybe 1 or 2 levels. If you do put it over a shadow root it will lift a little also but will defiantly turn orange so be prepared to tone it. It's not as strong or effective as bleach would be
Hi-Lift blonde is great for in-between highlights. I'll hi-lift blonde my level 5 roots with a mix of A and some N. I'll leave it on for about 20 minutes using 40 volume. My hair is more golden platinum so it blends well leaving it just the 20 minutes before it looks too strawberry blonde. Since I do my own partial highlights the hi-lift helps me to extend the time between highlights until I'm in the mood to do them. Something else I do which I'm sure is a big NO NO but I'll leave about a tablespoon of the mix in the bowl and then put shampoo in it and shampoo my hair with it after rinsing. It acts like a clarifying shampoo and leaves my hair color looking great. I'm much blonder than in my picture here. Women ask who my hairdresser is. Honestly, I get way more compliments when I do my own hair. The other thing that is great about doing it this way is the hi-lift parts after I do highlights look like low lifts. I love your channel! Women can save a lot of money if they dare to do their own hair. It's risky. I've had 2 mishaps since I started messing with my hair 40 years ago as a teen.
i absolutely love this video but is it possible maybe you were only supposed to use 1:1 with 40 volume and maybe its 1:2 with 10 volume? the brassiness is kinda scaring me away from trying high lift color, maybe the developer breaks down the dye after 30 minutes or something
I'm slow. I just realized the irony of a hairdresser owning a hairless dog. Lol.
@@charleeceejay8543 the doctor upstaged her when he tried to eat the lightener ❤

Yes! Mine too! Weird 🤷♀️
I like lighter because you can use a lower level developer
, High lift you have to use a 40 to harsh for me.
A tip for you you can add conditioner on the lighten hair area or put leave in conditioner so it will protect it
THANK YOU!!!
I add oils to my bowl of lightener and developer, works well at not drying hair out.
Hello, what oils do you add? Thank you ❤❤
I just found this video and I have to say I learned so much in this video than I have in a lot of other channels. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I love ❤your dog’s Mohawk/highlights!!! Thank you for the amazing and understandable information!!
Ion 11.11 is great if its on a lighter base or used with 10vol over bleach as a toner . It will deposit that blue ice tone
Thanks! ❤ learned about the air pockets from you! 🙏

But I can’t find her anymore, so I have had to work to find another stylist that can cut/color the way I like it and it’s nearly impossible. The color still is the big issue. I am always left more yellow blonde than platinum white.
@@andic3676 you understand it usually takes more then one session to get it platinum.. for your hairs sake. Maybe be more vocal? And/or research
You are an amazing teacher! 👏🏼
Just imagine if you could offer personal instruction and courses!
Came for the dog! OMG adorable! You and Doctor are cute blondies! 🥰
SO SO HELPFUL! THANK YOU!!
I'm learning so much thank you
yay!! thank you!
Yes I go for the lighter and for a hilifter if I was a natural blonde
Thank you for your tutorials! So informative and funny! I’ve got white streaks in my hair (natural). Love hi lift ion blondes but I’m guessing they’re porous as they turned lilac. :/ I’m doing your bleach bath to break up color and blend my gray.
I love your hair and makeup !
I totally love you! So down to earth and cool! ".. Everywhere but the bedroom.." 😂😂🙈🙈 keep on! Much love from Ohio!. ❤️
Love your fur baby!
Love your channel! I ordered a human hair wig but it is too black. I would like ut to be just a lil shade lighter. I tried using box dye to do so but got no results. What do you suggest ? Can I just use a 20 percent developer alone on it for a few minutes? Will this help to make a slight difference ?
You can only lift colour with lightener. Colour doesn't lift colour, sadly.
@@vegan_guac Thank you!
Even though I’m a dirty blonde naturally, I don’t like the color that a high lift gives. if you want strawberry blonde hair, then a high lift is good.
*I have learned so much from you!*
Question: I'm needing to do my roots (bleach/tone) and I have a Pixie. My back and sides are cut down real short - 1/2" to 1+" or so. Top is about 3" - 4".
How on earth do I do the regrowth without overlap, with such little length?
I know some hairdressers use eyeshadow brushes to avoid overlapping!
Fantastic video! I'll email you today and fill you in on all the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding my move 😁!
Hey Gorgeous, The tattoo removal is coming out great!
Can you use a Hi lift color such as ion HL/V Cool Blonde to help correct uneven bleached hair?
i have been using highlift and i'm a natural dark blonde4/ light brown i am wondering if i could use a regular blonde like golden blonde and use 20 volume for less damage
Thank you for sharing this. I have a question with the HL.
Is it possible to use bleach with a low developer to continue lifting at some point?
Everywhere but the bedroom..i busted out laughing on this
Does a High Lift always come paired with a toner?
Will break it off
@nmc1859 Hey I actually tried it and it works 😂 no damage at all!! And I've been doing my roots that way since then. I use Ion oil bleach on my roots, then igora highlift with 20 vol, it leaves a pretty blonde
Can you put the ion lightener on over the hi lift (6 months old) ?
yes! just follow up with a conditioning treatment!
This is so thorough 👌🏽🩷🫶🏽
Came here for DIY haircut, which is the bomb, stayed for your personality and this beautiful doggo! My family has two Cresties.💗💗
What if it’s a special color? Like a honey blonde. Do I do a lightener with 10v then go over with color, then tone? Or do I just look for high lift color with 40v then tone? I’m a total newbie. 😅
Another great video 🤍💘
Is box dye Ultra Natural Blonde the same as High Lift? xxoo.
My hair is naturally black. I want to change the color to an auburn brown. Would I do a 1:2 ratio??
Not very safe for the dog spooning bleach over his head. What if it drips on him?
I love your videos and your arms? So pretty.
awhhh! your puppy dog 😍💞
I should had brought hicolor instead of bleach but bleach was the cheaper one I know highlights are lesser harsh on the hair.
Hey Brittnee I use the exact same bleach from Sally's in the tube. Love it, does the job without eating your hair lol.
I have a question though. I have incredibly rude, stubborn grey hair on my sideburns and around my face. The face ones cover with my base colours I've tried dark, light colour putting the 20 vol developer first nothing will cover these ass&_les lol
To the point that I basically point cut them right down.
The color looks good on you you're beautiful
Great video and example
You have to be careful with Henna in the hair
Love your videos and never know you have cute hairless dog!))) 💕
Im a dark brunet 30 developer and Igora highlift 10-0 makes me golden blond (not orange)
Can’t believe Doctor is sitting there acting interested lol my dogs would haul ass sneezing smelling that. 😂
I have a question though… you said you can’t hi lift over previously colored hair, but you put the color over your shadowed roots?
LOL!!! you technically can but it won't work as well as bleach, it will lift maybe 1 or 2 levels. If you do put it over a shadow root it will lift a little also but will defiantly turn orange so be prepared to tone it. It's not as strong or effective as bleach would be
Really good video. Thank you PS lovely dog (hairless dog) 🙂
Like a virgin.. bleached for the very first time 🎶 lol! Thank you for your super awesome content! ❤
How do you select the highlight color?
Oh so hicolor can only go on new growth once? So I can't reapply once it's been highlighted? Yikes I was hoping to gradually lighten my hair
Omg your dog… ❤
Does the ion high lift can remove red dye ?
it would but it would turn it pink- a shampoo (sometimes called a soap cap) would work best
or an actual color remover
i absolutely love this video but is it possible maybe you were only supposed to use 1:1 with 40 volume and maybe its 1:2 with 10 volume? the brassiness is kinda scaring me away from trying high lift color, maybe the developer breaks down the dye after 30 minutes or something
