I'm puzzled why Windows considers "tape recorder quality" to be worse than "AM radio quality". Clearly the people at Microsoft were using some pretty crappy tape recorders!
Seems like this works quite well and it’s an easy way to add USB to good quality older equipment. Using a high end sound card would also work well, but this is certainly a good plug and play solution. Also cool to see that it works without a problem on different machines considering its age, I thought it was much newer initially!

I have used this for 5 years there is a red color version of it. Recommended to me by another user as I was creating mix tapes on cassettes. These days I don’t record ad much. Great gadget though.
hint. you can also plug this thing with a phone charger wall plug. because it only powers thru usb. so you can technically connecting the RCA outputs on speakers, or if you have a soundbar or even maybe an receiver with Optical Toslink plug, you can also use it to. mostly recommended as a DAC replica.

Hi, I'm about to receive a cassette deck. Unfortunately I can't control the volume on it. Can I still connect it directly to the Behringer or will I have to buy another amp? Also, supposing I can connect it directly to the decks, will the sound I'm going to record be good enough? Because I'm afraid I'm going to have to increase the sound a lot in post-processing and therefore increase the background noise...
I don't know what went on with Windows 10 it seems like it somehow when you try to record any live analog sound using line in feed for recording it doesn't allow it anymore. There were no jacks present and the only thing that you can record is via microphone. Even the USB Codec panel have became a microphone. What gives?
I've connected this to an old iMac and my newer (2022) MacBook Air. Both show the sound levels when I select USB Audio CODEC. When I select MacBook air built-in speakers as the output no sound comes out. What am I doing wrong?
If I understand correctly, you're saying that you still want to use the Mac's built-in speakers but they aren't working with the Behringer connected? If so, that's quite peculiar and definitely wasn't my case. I just tested it with my Mac, and setting the output device to either the Behringer or the Mac's speakers works as intended. I wish I could help more but I'm stumped.

When I use Audacity and start recording a vinyl record and have Software Playthrough ON, I hear the record on my built-in MacBook Air speakers - no problem. When I'm not using Audacity and select the built-in speakers as the output no sound.
It depends. The simplest way would be to connect the Behringer soundcard directly to the output of your cassette player. Unless you use a splitter, you won't be able to have the cassette deck connected to your receiver at the same time. I'd suggest connecting the Behringer's inputs to your stereo receiver's line outputs, if it has them.

You can use a UCA202 into the USB socket on an Android phone/tablet.
