@@EstherYael1984 Gnostic Christians (well, some of them) see CHRIST as a figure to be emulated as part of a process of repairing the World. Others see his emulation as the key to escaping the world. It depends if the Christian you speak to is optimistic about creation (see creation as worthy of repair) or pessimistic about creation (something to be escaped). However, like you say, certain christians just put their "faith" in Jesus

I’m not versed enough in either Kabbala or Jungian thought to make any kind of hypothesis, but the bizarre and near inexplicable nature of the latter makes me think there is a mystical element. I know the internet is full of conspiracies about Jews and Israel right now, but please note I’m not approaching the subject from that angle in any way. I just can’t help but think that this belief system - rooted in the ancient whilst also embracing technological advancement might be a manifestation of the nexus between maths, physics and neuropsychology. And that would be awesome. I hope that makes some kind of sense ✌

I am a person who was born into the Church of England, but who has spent most of his life questioning everything to try and understand my place in humanity and humanity's place in relation to everything else. That is the worst explanation ever, but it is just a clue to the angle I come from originally. I have played with the idea that the Christian CHRIST is like the Kabalistic concept of Shekinah (God's indwelling presence in the world). I have thought that the Christians get a clue that to emulate CHRIST is to kick start the process of the reintegration and completion of CREATION, which the Zohar later suggested is part of Humanity's purpose. Jesus is the end of the Law, it’s fulfilment. (Romans 10:4) So it shouldn’t be surprising that the system he came to fulfil it. John 17:3, and in fact the entirety of John 17 (please read it!) demonstrate our purpose is to achieve alignment in value and unity of purpose with Christ and God just as they are united in value and purpose. Love and Unity are the highest ideals and truths that we are directed to. It means eternal life and joy and peace. What’s not to love about that? But notice how it comes by getting to take in knowledge of both Christ and God. Jesus set us an excellent example as he is the perfect reflection of God’s personality, teaching us how to live too. It’s interesting how that process reflects the Sephiroth of Knowledge, Understanding and Wisdom together, huh? You cannot have one without the other. You cannot achieve success without all of them. Faith MUST be backed up by knowledge and works.

My personal theory is that a psychotic break results in a break in the part of the self that holds back information from the unconscious mind causing one to have problems dealing with all of the content of that mind. This can cause one to have problems dealing with reality. Some of the content of that mind must have included knowledge of Kabbalah maybe from a past life.

Read recently that Jung in his 80s had a visionary experience whilst being very ill. In bed moving in and out of consciousness he was administered to by a group of Jewish women who fed him kosher food. Later he processed this experience even more deeply. Erich Neumann had chided him to look to Judaism as a more available to western minds than the eastern thought he had been delving into. The book on Kabbalah by Harry Friedman.

It's important to remember that Jung - as he himself said - wasn't Jewish and didn't read Hebrew or Aramaic - the languages of the vast majority of Jewish texts, certainly of Kabbalah. It is in this light that we can understand his first quote drawing a distinction between "Jewish Orthodoxy" and Chassidut/Kabbalah. Chassidut and Kabbalah are simply a part of the wider world of the Jewish textual tradition, called in its aggregate simply Torah. In my humble opinion as an Orthodox rabbi who is a hospital chaplain, chaplain Educator, and a psychodynamically trained social worker, Torah is one and undergirds all of psychology - something Jung himself said when he famously said the Maggid of Mezritch, zt"l, had anticipated his whole theory far before his birth. For further reading, I recommend highly the book Centers of Power: The Convergence of Psychoanalysis and Kabbalah, the works of Prof. Sanford Drob, and a wonderful article, I forget by who, on the true life psychoanalytic treatment by Sigmund Freud of the Lubavitcher Rebbe at the time, the Rebbe Rayatz, zt"l.

I studied both Neo Sabbatian Kabbalah alongside Jung . Much deeper than. Just psychology especially when getting into the image of God

It's important to remember that Jung - as he himself said - wasn't Jewish and didn't read Hebrew or Aramaic - the languages of the vast majority of Jewish texts, certainly of Kabbalah. It is in this light that we can understand his first quote drawing a distinction between "Jewish Orthodoxy" and Chassidut/Kabbalah. Chassidut and Kabbalah are simply a part of the wider world of the Jewish textual tradition, called in its aggregate simply Torah. In my humble opinion as an Orthodox rabbi who is a hospital chaplain, chaplain Educator, and a psychodynamically trained social worker, Torah is one and undergirds all of psychology - something Jung himself said when he famously said the Maggid of Mezritch, zt"l, had anticipated his whole theory far before his birth. For further reading, I recommend highly the book Centers of Power: The Convergence of Psychoanalysis and Kabbalah, the works of Prof. Sanford Drob, and a wonderful article, I forget by who, on the true life psychoanalytic treatment by Sigmund Freud of the Lubavitcher Rebbe at the time, the Rebbe Rayatz, zt"l.

With regard to the Creator's need for man's help in restoring/repairing/unifying the world, I wonder how Jung dealt with the fact that Christians believe that Jesus already accomplished that act by sacrificing himself, so there is nothing further required of men but their faith in Jesus? Does Jung treat this issue to your knowledge? Thanks.
