dose hypertrophy happen in both muscle fibre types ? and will resistance training only cause hypertrophy in the type 2 fibres ?

All fiber types can hypertrophy, but to my knowledge, type 2 fibers have greater capacity for hypertrophy. Intense contractions, like that in resistance exercise, are going to result in more hypertrophy in type 2 fibers. However, it is unlikely that only type 2 fibers will hypertrophy. This is especially true given that type 2 fibers will never be activated without also activating type 1 fibers at the same time.

If a majority of people on a western diet have a high sodium diet, would we really be able to sweat out too much sodium causing Loss of normal resting membrane potential?

Hi J Curtis. Good question. Yes it is still possible. Remember that our bodies attempt to maintain a narrow range for things like blood sodium level. So the body will alter hormonal function to adjust to the amount of sodium you eat to maintain a reasonably normal blood sodium level. A long bout of exercise can still acutely disrupt these normal sodium levels. This is because this depletion of sodium is happening quickly and there is no replenishment of the sodium during the bout of exercise (assuming you are not consuming sodium).
