No, it's not chewy. Barbecued brisket done right is totally going to melt in your mouth! You take the same low and slow techniques and put it onto the brisket. One thing, I don't like the fatty part. But some folks will eat that right along side the meat. And eat it with whatever sauce is on offer. Don't get into the middle of an argument about sweet or sour sauces. The cook will use a recipe that's compatible with the sauce they're using.

This kid moans about not liking (being picky) or being scared of food a lot. I usually can't imagine ANYONE not liking Texas Brisket... until possibly him. To me "chewy" would mean "tough", which Smoked Brisket is the opposite of. But who knows what HE thinks he means by "chewy"? You chew soft meat too.

As Crotchety and Rambles said, Brisket melts in your mouth with the most wonderful taste. Brisket is slow cooked for like 10 hours in a smoker. They smoke the meat with wood, like mesquite, cedar or pecan, to give the meat a very distinct taste. I'm not from Texas, but you have to respect their beef BBQ.

Brisket use to be a throw away cut because it is a tough chewy meat, BUT when you sloooooow smoke the meat it turns to butter! Briskets need to be slow smoked for at least 12 hours if not longer. Brisket cooked right is absolutely fantastic! Also, at the end you read that it can be chewy, but that is only if an idiot cuts the brisket, and even then it would just have long strands that were slightly more chewy than it should be. Any respectable Texas BBQ joint knows exactly how to cut it.

Buc-ee’s. You can’t travel far in Texas without seeing one. Great food, plenty of souvenirs, and the nicest public restrooms for miles around. It’s practically a rite of passage to visit one for the first time.
Also, on the question of British migrants to Texas, there’s a moderate amount in the major cities. My pre-Cal teacher was from England. We had to be very careful when putting up two fingers to answer a question (palm facing outward) or she’d think we were insulting her.
For sites to visit, I’d recommend the LBJ Museum in Austin. It has an incredible amount of historically significant items from the Johnson administration and a ton of memorabilia from the 60’s. When I visited, there was an entire exhibit dedicated to the Beatles. The robot you saw in the video was a representation of President LBJ, reciting several of his famous speeches. The Alamo, in my opinion, is not that interesting unless you’re into Texas history. We were herded through the place in about 10 minutes till we got to the gift shop.
If you go to Houston someday, definitely visit the Houston Museum of Natural Sciences, the Museum of Fine Arts, Discovery Green, and Minute Maid Park.

Texas is huge, and the weather varies drastically by region. In the panhandle, the weather is horrid. Have you every heard of a mud storm? That's when it rains during a dust storm, and it does happen sometimes. And winter can be brutally cold.
The Gulf coast is a lot different. There, you have a hurricane every year or two. But. Well. In Houston, there are only two seasons: Summer and August. The heat and humidity combine to make August unbearable.
The rest of the state is between those two extremes. Here is Dallas/Fort Worth, there will usually be a couple of cold snaps each winter. A cold snap would be three or four days of sub-freezing temperatures. But God forbid there should be freezing rain during one of those cold snaps! Texas cities are not prepared to keep the roads safe from ice, and Texas drivers have little to no experience with it. I just stay home.

As someone who used to live at different sections of Texas the tip of little Wichita Falls which is Northern Texas and San Antonio which is Southern Texas and basically from one end to the other you're talking about the same distance from the tip top of Scotland all the way down to the bottom part of England from tip to bottom Texas is about the exact same. It's actually bigger mile 2-mile but in general from top-to-bottom it's about the same from Scotland all the way down England. Give or take

There are parts of Texas that get snow every year. There are also parts where snow is very rare. You feel the extremes of both heat and cold because of the high humidity. In Texas 40F is cold where in New Mexico 40F is short sleeve weather.

Nothing like having a fort that was part of the Texas Revolution to yourself to wander alone in the dead of night.

North parts of Mexico get snow almost every winter. It’s an altitude thing. Also Mexico City in the center of the country has very mild weather through out the year. Also an altitude thing. Mexico City’s summers are only in the 70s °f and it gets hoodie level cold in the winters. Don’t get me wrong though it does have hot parts like the dry desert in north and the humid jungles of the south.

In case you're wondering, I found this on Wikipedia:
Land's End to John o' Groats is the traversal of the whole length of the island of Great Britain between two extremities, in the southwest and northeast. The traditional distance by road is 874 miles (1,407 km) and takes most cyclists 10 to 14 days; the record for running the route is nine days.

Are there highway/expressway speed limits? Yes. Are they enforced? Depends on where you are. Also truck stops are gas stations with extra services for truck drivers and souvenirs for road trippers. Quite a few of them have showers , and the large ones have things like dental clinics and barber shops.

I go to Texas tech university, in North Texas. I am from South Texas and it takes approximately 8-9 hours to travel from down to upstate without stopping. Personally, it’s not about the distance for me, anywhere after the 4 hours of that journey will blow your mind how beautiful the countryside Texas is. You just have to be careful of those rainstorms and make sure your vehicle is maintenance, you don’t want to be stuck in the middle of nowhere.
Also, you can hit a 100 mph on these country roads, there isn’t any police or state troopers. There are definitely speed limits in big cities in Dallas, Austin, Houston and San Antonio. Austin is not necessarily big it’s just really compact, it is the same population as Corpus Christi (where I’m from).

The winters in Texas is a mixed bag. Most of the time it's pretty mild, but sometimes we have a cold snap such as the one that happened last February, and it makes nationwide news when it does happen, because they are so rare. But actually we'll have days that are in the (Farenheit) 60s for the highs in January, but it can dip into the low 30s and high 20s for a low. Like Wolters said, just dress in layers, and as the day goes on, just take off the jacket and tie it around your waist. Brisket cooked right (low and slow as they say, low temperature, at least 8 to 12 hour cooking time) is tender and juicy and should melt in your mouth. If it's chewy, it's bad. The old buildings are Spanish Missions. When Texas was under Spanish rule, the Catholic church built the missions to convert the Native Americans in the area (Comanche, among others). Most Texans have a heritage of Scots/Irish, German, Czech, African, and Mexican.

  • @jreyman
    @jreyman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, there are speed limits, but it depends where you are for instance, parts of Texas are 80 MPH, but in more urban areas it could be 65, and others 75. You want to pay attention to those signs for speed changes. This same thing applies to all other states, though only a couple of other states have speeds at or above 80 mph. Some states or even some counties or towns are strict, while others are more forgiving. It all depends where you're at.

Brisket done right is smoked & slow cooked for hours, if not all day. This breaks down the connective tissues that would otherwise make it a chewy cut of meat and turns it into something that falls apart in your mouth. Absolutely delicious.
