Praying to St Bartholomew for your skin ailment Trent. Thanks for the unaccessible book recommendations😁😉. I bet Capturing Christianity would love to see a few of those book.
Hi Trent, protestant here. Have you read anything by Dr Joshua Aaron Bowen such as The Atheist Handbook to the Old Testament? You should do a rebuttal of it when you have time.
One of my favorite out of print books was called _Bushcraft_ by Richard Graves. Or at least it was out of print for a few decades. Such was the demand, that I think there might've been a reprint at some point.
Hey Trent, FYI: Yves in French is pronounced exactly as you would prononce Eve in English, as in Adam and Eve. Keep up the great stuff! Cheers from Montreal
My favorite book is God’s word and I’ve been reading the Bible since 24/10/1986 . Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God Matthew 4:4 All believers should start reading God’s word from John 14 onwards ❤
Just for future reference, Yves should be pronounced like "Eve" in English (Ève, which is Eve in French, is pronounced differently than Yves and Eve). The "s" is silent as well. And please do do an episode on usury (it would also be interesting to hear how Catholic teaching compares to what other Christians and what other Abrahamic religions teach on the subject).
If you own a book you are allowed to make copies for your own use, e.g. photocopy. In other words, you have a (limited) right to copy, hence the term “copyright” protection. Creating or obtaining a copy of a book you already own is generally considered ethical as long as it is for your own use and you are not uploading/distributing it to others.
Noonan's work on usury, and that book, are so important. I read it at a university library. I don't agree with all his conclusions, but very important.
One of the most valuable in both senses of word book of my library is a 'A history of the Doctrine of the Holy Eucharist' by Darwell Stone, published in 1909 in two volumes which add up to about a thousand pages. Stone was a Church of England Anglo-Catholic, in the book he covers all significant theologians who discuss the Eucharist up to @1900. The especial value of the book is that he quotes extensively from each, so significant Eucharistic theologians such as St Thomas Aquinas will be covered over several pages, with quotations of paragraph length. He also covers erroneous and heretical theologians, starting with Ratramnus and Berengar and covering all the main Protestant thinkers. This is a go to book if you want to find out what a significant theologian taught about the Eucharist and a flavour of what they wrote. There are now scanned copies available, but they are always problematic, I am fortunate to have the first edition.
I prefer hard copies for reading, but there are some advantage to the kindle for me. One is that if I'm writing something and want to quote from a book, if it's a paperback, it's going to be cumbersome to hold it open while I type from it. I don't have that problem with the kindle. Plus, my kindle is back lit, so I can read in bed at night with the lights off. I like that. But I hate most other things about the kindle.
Maybe some Friday you could talk about the difference between prophets of the OT and modern day prophets.. thanks and praying for your continued healing🙏🏻
This is one of your best episodes! I would love to know about the best books for proving the validity of the Bible-that is was not corrupted or changed. I know you mentioned one book, but anymore would be wonderful!
Firstly, don't sell yourself short. You likely only need to build your vocabulary. Start with Scott Hahn and the people who write for Catholic Answers as they aim to be very accessible.
It’s tricky because you’re technically not stealing any entity when you download a book, because you’re just making a copy of it. However, the person making the book expects to be paid for the work, or else they won’t make it, so in the long run - the moral question aside - it may be a bad idea to encourage downloading books because it may lead to fewer writers getting into the industry, and fewer good books. I have no problem with downloading anything uploaded on TH-cam though, as that’s already free to begin with.
Im a tad jealous of kids right now who are growing up with touchscreens as the norm. My one-year-old nephew is able to handle a touchscreen as easily as any of his toys. I imagine he’ll have very little trouble reading books, which bugs me since I struggle to read them. I find a physical book very tangible and understandable, but there’s just something about reading off a screen that feels so off to me that I have difficulty reading a whole book that way.
They’re not necessarily rare though, just monetarily valuable. Several of the texts he mentioned are still accessible, but they’re just very expensive.
oddly even though i've been atheist all my life the only book on religion i've read, and it was so full of horseshit i didn't finish it, was the bible. if you apologists to try to talk your god into existence, it's pretty obvious your god isn't real. no gods are real. if there is a creator my money is on him having a love of science, not a predisposition to drowning people or stoning aldulterers.
Take some time off to recover Trent. You deserve it!
I know that you were recovering but we really missed you, you and your family re still in our prayers!
You should do a monthly book club so that we can learn with you!

Come to the comments to say the same :D

What do you think of the premise of getting a pdf of a book for free when you already own it, if you want a more portable version?

Future of marriage is great too. You can get it used for under 10$. Highly recommend.
I'm interested in the books on your bookshelf.

Great video! I hope you and your family keep getting better. 🙏🏽🌹
Mediatrix Press reprints OOP Catholic books. I just bought a biography on St Norbert from them.
Maybe some Friday you could talk about the difference between prophets of the OT and modern day prophets.. thanks and praying for your continued healing🙏🏻
After the Ball is certainly valuable. I can’t find it for less than $250!
Would you find providing a scanned copy of your out of print book online to download for free immoral?
Love books
More on usury? Love a breakdown of that book.
This is one of your best episodes! I would love to know about the best books for proving the validity of the Bible-that is was not corrupted or changed. I know you mentioned one book, but anymore would be wonderful!
Trent, how often do you need to read a certain topic before you become very and assuredly confident with the material?
I would like a video on Usery.. That would be nice.
Wold love to know what books u would recommend for ppl who are not that intellectually gifted:) I have a hard time understanding sometimes lol.

And just when I thought I have bought enough books for awhile…
Interesting video because the books showcase Catholicism as a theology of glory, especially in it's elevation of natural theology.
Have you ever thought of doing a video on Christian worship and the sabbath bcz it would go a long way in reaching out to seventh day adventists
I agree. Maybe he could have Tim Staples on? Tim did a talk called “The Great Disappointment” on Seventh Day Adventism.
Trent's point around 2:05 is why I support piracy and emulation and am against DRM.

Book finder has the Nowacki book listed from $133 to 450+
im a student so was able to get it online free
The most valuable book on my shelf is THE BIBLE #getwreckedpapist #solaorprimascriptura #loveyourtasteinbooks :P
PDFs, kindle or e-pubs are irritating when it comes to footnotes and references too.
Nothing beats the real thing in paper and ink. Like Trent said, the only downside is space should your reading habits tend towards the voracious.
@@ironymatt yep. That and the wear and tear.

Phonetically, the French theologian's name sounds more like Eve Con gar.
is your eye ok?
He has shingles. That’s what caused it.
Sorry Trent Horn but I don't think that you are correct about illegal pfd downloads of books. I believe that it might be a serious/ mortal sin.
It looks like you have pink eye!
He made a community post saying it is shingles
I think he should change the title to "My most rare books".
They’re not necessarily rare though, just monetarily valuable. Several of the texts he mentioned are still accessible, but they’re just very expensive.
Well, Nikki Sixx stole his first bass, so I guess we can't blame you too much for stealing a book.
