    Charred Punk Wood that is highly reactive to ignition from flint and steel, empty BIC, and solar is a BEAUTIFUL thing! Let me show you how to make it.

    I made some really good charred wood from some driftwood. The pieces I was using were very light for their size but still solid, snapped really easy however. I suspect from material on the insides being taken away somehow.

    Just curious, why no friction pipe fire starters?

    • @DavidWestBgood2ppl
      @DavidWestBgood2ppl  ปีที่แล้ว

      The fire piston can not be made in nature. If I had to bring one, I'd rather bring a ferro rod instead.

      @@DavidWestBgood2ppl That makes sense, I guess a ferro rod is easier to haul around. I wish I could make a ferro rod in nature.

      @J Meat I'm a little confused, I understood the fire piston absolutely could be made in nature, with like bamboo, string, and animal fat. Very ancient method indeed, thousands of years old. Good comment I'd say. David is still the greatest to me. You both know a million times more than me.

    David, really enjoy your channel, I have learned so much, but I do have a question. How long will charred punk wood and charred cloth last in a container and still be viable?

    • @DavidWestBgood2ppl
      @DavidWestBgood2ppl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will be ignitable right on if kept dry. The real problem is how quickly it breaks down into particles and dust over time as the container is jostled. Bigger chunks are easier to work with.
