The German government on Thursday dropped part of its plans to cut agricultural subsidies in the face of massive protests from farmers.
Contrary to the initial plans, a discount on the vehicle tax for agricultural machinery would be maintained, Chancellor Olaf Scholz's spokesman Steffen Hebestreit said in a statement.
Meanwhile, tax breaks on fuel used by the same vehicles would not be scrapped completely but reduced progressively, Hebestreit said.

Hello World, Saxony, Geremany here. This is no longer a farmers protest, they just had eggs, most of all of us need. We, the german people are standing here! Our Future is in a very danger, we we´re struggling since 2014, our patience is done! Germany spent money in the whole world, but there is no money for our seniors, they spent 40 years and more to make this country work. A shame, just a shame! Very true. It's not just about farmers or subsidiaries. People are fed up with the incompetence and ideology of the government that damages the country in multiple ways. They will be swept away in the next elections. That is if the coalition does not collapse before that.
It is an uprising of the productive middle class.

Farmers need diesel and tax subsidies. Why send billions to Ukraine for a lost cause? When your farmers need them the most.
We also wasted a ton of money to other countries. I have no problem with helping my fellow brothers in other countries, but i think i have to decide how much of my earned money is given away

Well, it's not just the Diesel subventions. It's also about the to this point existing green license plates: they are tax reduced and can be used at the (pulling) tractor but also on the used agricultural trailers and these then sharing the insurance, that the framer has registred on this plate. The state plans to get rid off these. So the farmers will have to get for each and every single trailer they have 1) an extra plate 2) have to pay full tax on every vehicle and trailer and 3) have to insurence each tractor and each and every single agricultural trailer (even it's maybe just used once a year) they have if they want to move them.
"Fun" fact: did you know, if our farmers produce "too much" milk (so less would have to be imported) they have to pay a fine? They are allowed(!) to produce and sell that and that much milk for the govermental made price of incredible 60cent per Liter (minus tax of course). I just recently saw milk in the store, sold fpr 1,65€, labelled as "regional" - the text on the back said "from German speaking and bordering regions. So I wonder, who gets the other 1 € and 5 cents for the "regional" milk. Some farmers have so called "milk stations" where customers can directly buy fresh milk from the farmer (usually 1 Liter for 1 Euro), this is allowed - BUT now these stations have to be updated IF possible or have to be replaced by stations which can also not just measure the amount of milk (what they already do), but also weight and give a bill with those informations for each liter. They cost several thousand euros. That'S alot of self-sold milk directly at the farm in the middle of nowhere to cover that expanses.
Another "fun" fact: former fields, which are not sown in for harvest in the past 3 or 5 years (I'm not sure which of these two, a farmer told me, but I forgot), are not allowed(!) to be used as harvest field again, as soon as grass has been grown there. This even applies in crisis times, e.g. when the Ukrainian/Russian war started and we ran out of wheat. Yes, farmers here are not allowed to reuse their own(!) fields for harvesting anymore.

I'm German and it's not just the farmers, but also logistics companies, truck drivers, craftsmen and many more. In addition, almost all of Europe supports us. They drive to Berlin with their tractors and trucks. We are currently experiencing the largest demonstration since World War II. It's the start of something really big!

Tractors...any interest at all ? Almarai from Saudi Arabia has the largest milk productions with 1.47 million metric tons per year...volume is similar to the milk production of Indonesia or Norway...I'm not a journalist! I just searched it on the internet....I don't know who was President in 1956...I read Almarai has over 100,000 dairy cows...

The tax on fuel is to be used for maintaining roads and bridges; that's how it started. Since farmers and those working in forests almost exclusively use their vehicles offroad they have always been exempt from this tax - it never was a subsidy !!!
But nobody speaks about this aspect and today most Germans don't even know about this fact....
