- Haoshoku Haki (覇王色の覇気) is a rare form of Haki that allows the user to exert their own willpower over others. Unlike the other two types of Haki, this type cannot be awakened through training and only one in a million people are born with this ability.
It is said that whoever possesses this type of Haki has the qualities of a king, and thus are known as Supreme Rulers (覇王, Haō)
Haoshoku Haki is considered an extremely dangerous threat and a highly valuable asset by powerful groups such as the Four Emperors, Marines, Seven Warlords of the Sea and Five Elders.

Seeing Sengoku immediately recognizing the situation but still frozen in shock is a profound statement. Sengoku is already realizing although they may have Ace, there's an equally large threat or even bigger on the battlefield, and that threat is just running around free unnoticed.
Another great thing about this arc is how Luffy is separated from his crew but he is still making progress on his dream. The man is on a way one track to completing his prophecy.

Unnoticed? They just belittle him for being a young lad in a battlefield. Now he is one of the kings that may be a bigger threat in the future, they are trying to kill him now. I mean he is the one who stopped Cipher Pol, the most elite agents of the Gorosei, and was able to intercept Enies Lobby, a government owned property that is extremely secured base.

The level of conqueror's haki that Luffy used here wasn't basic. He imposed his will on the whole battlefield to realize his own ambitions. This is why Aokiji starts sweating.

Akainu believes in absolute justice. More than any other character. I really admire Aokijis reaction in this. It really fits perfectly and lets you understand how rare and powerful that move is. Its easy to forget the closer we get to the New World and everyone there is uber powerful.

The moment you realize the pirate you thought was damn near no threat whatsoever simply because whitebeard was on the same battlefield turns out to be the single greatest threat, not only because his Father is the Most wanted man in the world, but because his Conquerer's Haki is so ridiculously potent he can use it without any actual training

And two more things:
- The use of conqueror basically indicates you are able to achieve 100%, so a conqueror rookie is an emergency that must be eliminated in the act.
- The conqueror chill was so brutal even admirals got scared. To achieve that there's only one explanation: that Luffy's conqueror was, at least, Yonko level.

When you use conqueror's haki, you mean business. And with that level of power, even the admirals would sit up and take notice. You have no idea how dangerous this type of power can be. Besides knocking out your enemies, this haki also inspires countless people to join you because it is what marks you as a true leader. Conqueror's haki is like an aura of dominance. That is why pirates like Shanks and Whitebeard can have so many loyal crewmembers, because people will be inspired to follow them anywhere.
I guessing the highest level of conqueror can pretty much control everything. Just like how Luffy be able to tame a wild animal

This scene hits even harder after Wano. Up until this point, they thought Luffy was just some brat who was strong by "Paradise" standards, but definitely not the kind of guy who'd make it in the New World, let alone Pirate King material. That false notion was shattered right here and now, when they realized just how high his ceiling went. This kid, who just a few months prior was a literal nobody, was now here, in this war of monsters, and showed that yes, he really _did_ have what it takes to rival even the strongest pirates in the world.

Even during this moment, Ace already told Yamato about how he was going to surpass everyone and how strong he was, even at this moment Ace for sure knew of Luffy's potential and that Haki display most likely reaffirmed it. The only people at the time who could use it were those top tier fighters like WB and others you can see in the video. Because of this, all of them recognized in that moment that Luffy has the potential to be that powerful.

in an interview oda stated that the thing that scared sengoku the most was not that he had the conqueror haki but the haki blast the amount which he released
I believe that luffy will have stronger haki than roger. Cuz it was stated that haki training doesn't increase the potency of haki but it train the user to release more haki. As stated by old man hyogoro, the user has to put less strain on the body to release more of the haki. So in this scene, luffy with no forms of haki training and no concept of it, was able to release such a potent haki blast that it knocked out thousands of marine captains that can dent luffy's face which is really strong. And after chapter 1010, we see how strong haki can be after training because luffy after training with old man hyogoro was able to BODY Kaido.
Also i have a theory and that is that before pirating was common, other ambitions or crimes have haki bearers as strong IF NOT stronger than pirates. This is because the pirating world was much less common before Roger's execution cause Roger telling people to search for the one piece which may be either infinite wealth or an irreversable curse would naturally tickles everyone's dopamine and make everyone want to find the One piece and become pirates. And before all of that, nearly noone had the concept of wanting to search for the one piece.
Ok so understanding all of the above. The point is that - less competition : lesser desires and ambitions. This formula gives us the result of weaker haki. During Roger's era, people had less ambitions but after his execution, people had WAY more desire thus stronger willpower which equals to more haki and what era was this? The Worst Generation's era, which is luffy's era.

Well, a good chunk of the marines that Luffy just knocked out in this scene were captains or higher, so I believe it just depends on the strength of your spirit. Remember, Shanks knocked out members of Whitebeard's personal crew, who were all New World Veterans and have experience much, so it just depends on the user. Luffy, growing in strength in the New World as he is, could probably at some point knock out other members of the Supernovas. It's all about spirit.

No matter how many times I watch this , this scene cannot be compared to any haki scene that luffy uses later on . This scene is beauty on its own
Yeah, ngl, I like it more when the visual is blue/bluish, it speaks of subtle but oppressing dominance. But from another pov, this is the only time Luffy released it out of sheer desperation. Other times it was out of a burst of anger or controlled suppression he released (post timeskip) this one is a desperate order, a roar of an emperor beast seeing no way out. It is indeed much more impactful to the viewers compared to just righteous fury.
Still gives me goosebumps, the fact that luffys haki spread as far as the executioners. Never would they have thought that this will be the same guy who will defeat emperors and become one in a short time span 🤣

After chapter 10010 we finally understood why everyone is afraid of luffy using the conquering king's haki. Because he, using it, covers his blows with that type of haki making them more powerful and dangerous and that is why only a few can use it and it is a rare type of haki. Only for those who aspire to something big, to become the strongest of all.
His conqueror haki is abnormal. Judged by sengoku and whitebeard expression who have seen it many times before. Maybe his haki will surprass roger in the future.
the real rare of this ability is not conqueror itself and its advance form thats the rare.
I mean didn't we see this when doffy and Luffy con haki collided on the roof and when Luffy fought his grandpa enemy

Conquerers burst doesnt get stronger with training. You can learn to control it or coat it around ur body in the case of advanced coc, but the burst overall stays the same

It is because you can use conqueror's haki to coat yourself, just like with advanced armament haki or standard armament. It has the same effect as advanced armament where you don't have to touch your opponent to hit them, but it is basically on mega steroids. Only people that use advanced conqueror's haki, which I just explain, are capable of dealing significant damage to Kaido enough to leave a scar.

He used King/Conqueror's Haki, a special ability only one in a million people are born with in One Piece. It allows you to instantly knock out any weak-willed individual you hit with it but Luffy can't control it here so he ended up hitting pirates with it too. There are two other types of Haki ad Luffy has both, observation haki which is basically Enel's mantra and armament Haki which enhances the power of attacks, hardens your body or allows you too touch Logia fruit users. Hope that helped.

@@Enneamorph Everyone who has it needs to have such a strong kingly will for it to even appear, that they would be destined for greatness by just their personalities, so they would get in those situations no matter what. So i think the number of people who actually have it and never realize in their life time are actually pretty low. No one with a personality like Gol D Roger, Monkey D Luffy or Garp is gonna be satisfied being a lil small town buisnessman or farmer.

TheFrankJaeger If heritage had something to do with it the entire marine would've hunted Luffy down the minute he gave his name. Which was back when he only beat Arlong, who hadn't been at the top of his game for years.
Here's the point: Back then Luffy was only potentially dangerous, so sending two low-ranking Logia users after him probably would've done the job. But they didn't even send the ones who would've been useless in the grand scheme of things anyway. Plus, *among the ten Supernovas is the STRAW HAT CREW*. There are no "Supernovas" until the very arc they are mentioned or, alternatively, shortly before that.
So no, heritage has *nothing* to do with Conquerer's haki. Otherwise Ace would've had been able to unlock it in a desperate moment, since it's certain that Roger had it. Then there's Garp... When was he confirmed to have that kind of Haki? Do tell me, that would be rather interesting to know considering that I've read the entire damn thing and the only confirmed Haki that old geezer has are armament and observation.
Zoro is hinted to have it, but his parents or ancestors in general are not mentioned by anyone, ever, so it's fair to assume that they didn't have it because that kind of ability will be spoken of, so whom did he have it from if he has it(which he most likely will because his past-analog is Silvers Rayleigh).
So far the only way you can tell if somebody who is the ancestor of current characters had CH wasn't heritage of it but wether or not they had a major influence in the happenings of history and/or politics in One Piece, and even that isn't an assessment with certainty.
So, there you have it, 1 in 1 million, which was an official *AND* an in-story statement, still is the way it is distributed, heritage doesn't factor into it. And Dragon could have easily meant the Will of D., and not CH, which are definitely different things.
Lokiraak Ace used haki to save Luffy from getting killed by one of bluejam's pirates in the flashback.
Some of you all have it confused.. It’s not JUST the fact of how strong his haki was or wasn’t.. It’s the fact that it was random as hell, and EVERYONE understands the threat this rookie can/will be if they didn’t snuff him out right away. This particular event, if any, is the reason why Akainu tried to get him out of the game quickly… and why a seasoned vet like Jinbei, and Marco went all in to make sure he escaped Marineford alive.
From that moment whitebeard knew that Luffy was the man that Roger is waiting for
i like how oda revealed haki early in the show (episode 4) and didnt leave it at that. now haki is this great power im loving how awesome luffy is with it.

Actually, Oda revealed haki in the very first chapter of the manga. Toei decided to hold off on the reveal of haki until episode 4.

Now that we've past Wano and getting know more about CQ haki, this scene feels even better. This uncontrollable burst of Conq Haki shocks even the like of Admiral who probably already seen another conq haki user. For me, it means that this burst of untrained Haki is so strong and had the potential which even G5 Luffy have yet to master

THIS!!!! This is what I absolutely LOVE about certain anime, the character reactions. That really sets the tone to how strong or important something is when a anime gives very good reactions like in this scene.

I grew up watching and reading one piece, so it's a huge part of my life, it was always a somewhat goofy and fun adventure, but it had a serious undertone, the main characters knew when to get serious and when to laugh and have fun, gear 5 ruined that balance, it's all just a cartoon now, no serious or high stakes situations anymore.
I used to have a response ready for anyone that told me: "anime is for children, one piece is too childish" that they were wrong and show them all the heartbreaking and serious moments in one piece. What am I gonna show them now? The loony tunes soundtrack, Luffy laughing in every situation with zero seriousness.
i had to admit to myself that Oda betrayed me, and I'm no longer the target audience for One Peice, it's made for children under the age of 12 now.

Considering how only ONE of Big Mom’s many children has the Conqueror’s Haki, it made me understand how extremely rare that type of gift is; hence everyone’s shocked reaction seems reasonable.
Additionally, you can't just open this gift. You ARE and CAN be born with it, but the personality you foster growing up decides whether or not you can unlock it. Doflamingo came from a family of Celestial Dragon, most of them are soft cucks who hide behind their titles, but Doflamingo awakened his in desperation and desire to be on the top, that's why Trebol desperately grasped a random blonde kid to "lead" him and the rest. The criteria is to be born with it, and has the heart of a king, the desire to be on the top.
As you can see, from Big Mom's children, the only one who is heavy on responsibility and the desire to be on top to protect his siblings is Katakuri. Others submit to their Mom and seemed content to just continue becoming vassals to their mother, only Katakuri had a dominant personality that was awakened when Brulee got hurt because of him. His entire theme is to be the "big scary, strongest" so his mere name alone would discourage people from touching his siblings, he wants to be on the top so his family doesn't need to be worried. This desire unlocked his dormant birth power. Not to mention, Big Mom also *let* Katakuri grew, because although Katakuri desired the top, he still respected Big Mom (Just like Zoro desired to be the strongest swordsman, but loyal to Luffy, another conqueror). I also suspect Katakuri's looming existence as the "Perfect Big Brother" also discouraged many of his little siblings with potential to desire to be "the top dog", a feeling of heavy dependence, I suppose? Back then when Brulee cried and told everyone Katakuri was beaten by Luffy, EVERY SINGLE ONE of Big Mom's kids looked like they lost sight of their reality. Indeed, they always thought Katakuri is the peak and they're content to live underneath the peak. Essentially, Big Mom's and Katakuri's existence quite possibly stunted potential growth of conqueror haki in several kids of Big Mom.

@@waitallen Conquerors Haki can be used in attacks.... that's why when Yonkos clash the sky spliits and that's why Roger and Whitebeard swords never touched when they clashed
@@rudeusgreyrat2925 You can attack without touching using standard advanced armament, it's just that advanced conqueror's has a greater visual effect and much greater strength.
What doesn't make sense is why Whitebeard didn't use his conquerors haki here. Yes he's done for and bleeding all over his face but conquerors haki is nothing you have to put effort into (if you mastered it that is).

Haki is one of the best things Oda added to One piece... Tbh all the haki are derived from true inner strength everyone has if they work hard enough to sharpen them, only that haki is more of a fictional twist on it.
Akainu is silent and he's the only of the three that hadn't met Luffy before, whereas Kizaru and Aokiji, both having met and fought the straw hats at various points already, are the most surprised to see it come from him.
Most of people here watched One Piece more than 10years ago, hope you're still doing well and still inlove with Luffy and the Strawhats pirates 😍

@@jellybelly7750 I think it matches his personality too, but it could have been a lot less goofy, Oda could have had the creativeness that is associated with the fruit without making light of serious situations.
One piece has always had a fine balance between serious and funny moments, even in final boss battles it had its comedic moments and serious moments, but gear 5 destroys that fine balance and leans heavily towards the loony tunes stuff, and personally I feel like I'm way too old for that.
I will still watch it when it finishes (If I'm alive by then), but I'm no longer excited for it or anticipating and theorizing very week.
This was the moment that everyone on that battlefield knew that Luffy was going to be an absolute monster if he got away. Which was probably why Akainu wanted to kill Luffy so bad.

Sengoku has intel on every single one who has a conqueror' haki and is very well aware of every single threat. He has probably assigned someone to counter every one of these threats with Garp and Himself being the last wall.
All were taken account for except for one. Only one was left unattended... That one was also one whom Garp could not handle.
