Wash burette with water. Rinse the burette with NaOH. Fill up the burette with NaOH (with funnel). Wash titration (conical) flask with water. Wash pipette with water. Rinse the pipette with oxalic acid. Fill the pipette up to the mark with Oxalic acid. Pour the oxalic acid from the pipette into the titration flask. Add 1 or 2 drops of phenolphthalin to the titration flask. Take the lower meniscus of the solution as the initial burette reading. Slowly and carefully add NaOH from the burette into the titration flask while swirling the contents of the titration flask. Keep doing this until you get the solution to be of a very light pink permanently. Now take the lower meniscus of the NaOH solution in the burette as the final burette reading.
A tip while doing titration: you should control the nozzle of burette with your left hand and keep swirling the conical flask using your right hand. This way, you don't have to keep stopping to swirl and prevents overestimation that leads to a dark pink color.
Very good demonstration of titration experiment. What I liked the most was the use of pipette pump instead of mouth pipetting. However, with due respect I would like to point out one thing: We should check whether the burette and pipette are properly clean or not. This can be checked very easily by seeing that no water droplets stick on the inner wall of the burette and the pipette after rinsing with distilled water. An uncleaned burette or pipette may deliver erroneous volume of liquid.
Thhhhhaaaannnnnkkkkkk uúuuuuuuuu a looooootttttt mmmaaammmm... T'mrw is my Chemistry practical and I didn't have any idea how to do volumetric analysis until I found your video ... Now I am crystal clear 😊😊 🥰🥰🥰
THANKYOU SO MUCH MAAM. Its 3am right now and I have my practical in a few hours, this video helped me to understand the procedure really well. thankyou so much ma'am.
Briefly explained Mam. Thanks a ton for this explanation, our teacher didn't explain us so well like you did Mam. Thank you once again , eagerly waiting for next experiments . 😇😇
Thank you so much for this video. I really needed this as in this time of corona we cant go to labs. And this titration is better understandable when seen. Thanks a ton!! 👍
But in our practical we did exactly opposite of this we filled oxalic acid in burette and NaOH in pipette and the colour after adding the phenolphtalein was pink and when we add oxalic acid into NaOH it became colourless
Wrong way of interpretation!! there is no rule that acid should be in conical flask and base in burette. Actually, the strong, either acid or base should be in burette so that it helps to reduce titration error. Specially in the case of Na2CO3, acid should be taken in burette. Thanks
I recently changed my school and when I came here , there practicals were already done. Now after a month I'm going to have practicle exams and I don't know a single thing about lab. I am scared but hopefully this video will help me out.
@@seemamakhijani721 Mam actually tomorrow I’m having my chemistry and physics practical’s please give me some useful tips for it from ur point of view 🙏🏻
Thank you ma'am for the explanation. This pandemic situation kept us away from labs but still we gotta do practical exams. It's a very educational video
